Baran: In Baihata village of the Shahabad PS in the district, a case of rape with a 5-year-old girl by a youth after consuming alcohol has been reported. The victim was referred to Baran for treatment in a critical condition.

The police registered the case & arrested the accused. CI Hariprasad Rana said that the victim had gone for defecation near a pond in Baihata.

The accused Mahavir was having alcohol in the nearby school premises, he abducted her & took her to the school before raping her. Victim was then taken to Shahbad Hospital & police was informed. The girl was referred to Baran for treatment. She is stable now.

Jaipur: The election department is mulling an exercise to conduct examinations for the employees.

The employees will have to take the exam in which questions related to the election code of conduct, rules and election related various procedures will be asked.

The initiative is aimed at ensuring that the employees are well informed so that they can function more efficiently.

While returning, minister in-charge Saleh Mohammed bid farewell to all the MLAs by making them wear a Jaisalmeri shawl. Saleh and his brother Amar Deen also honoured Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot with the same gesture. CM Gehlot also expressed gratitude to all the Congress leaders present there.

Along with being a minister, Salesh is also the MLA from Pokhran.

Victim in video claims harassment by gang Jodhpur: Days after the death allegedly by suicide of 11 members of a family of Hindu migrants from Pakistan in a village in Jodhpur district, a video has surfaced in which one of the victims gives a detailed account of the “harassment” they were facing at the hands of their relatives and a purported gang.

The one and a half hours long video was in the mobile phone of Laxmi, one of the victims, that was found in

the shack where the bodies were discovered, police said.

According to Laxmi’s account in the video, after the family came to India in 2015 due to fears of religious persecution in the neighbouring country, they got embroiled in a row with their relatives here as well as a “gang” that allegedly tried to control their lives.

Rain creates trouble at leopard safari Nirmal Tiwari Jaipur: Heavy rains on Tuesday night caused havoc in Jhalana leopard safari area in the state capital.

There is a runnel that passes through Jhalana leopard safari area, which overflowed and even changed its course.

The water reached near the leopard safari office where interpretation center and rest house are also situated.

places. There was strong flow near Kalka Mata temple therefore evening safari was stopped.

emocratic presidential nominee Joe Biden sprung a big surprise by picking Kamala Harris, California senator of Indian-Jamaican descent, as his running mate. She is the first woman of colour and South Asian American ever to be nominated in US history as a vice-presidential candidate. She is only the third woman after Sarah Palin, a Republican and Geraldine Ferraro, Democrat, to have been nominated as vice-presidential candidate.

The nomination comes in the aftermath of social strife over police brutality against African Americans. Her choice will prove crucial in the states of Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania which the Democratic candidate lost in the previous elections to the White House by 80,000 votes.

An Indian American advocacy group IMPACT has been rooting for her. The group will raise the US $10 million for the campaign. Led by corporate honcho Indira Nooyi, Indian American groups have welcomed her nomination. “This is a great choice for our country,” Nooyi tweeted.

Her selection is proof that the Indian community in the US now plays an influential role in American politics. Her nomination may, however, queer the pitch for Donald Trump who has been counting on the Indian community’s support for winning a second term in the November 3 election. Despite the excitement over her nomination, the Indian community will take time to choose Biden over Trump because of Kamala Harris’s Indian descent.

he Bharatiya Janata Party is preparing to storm the Dravidian parties’ citadel in the state assembly elections due next year. Party’s vice-president in Tamil Nadu VP Duraisamy caught AIADMK by surprise when he announced that the next election will be fought between the BJP and the DMK. The NDA-AIADMK alliance could manage to win only one seat in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. The BJP doesn’t have a single MLA in the southern state. These realities didn’t deter him from projecting his party as a major player for 2021.

The former DMK general secretary’s logic was that being the ruling party at the Centre it was BJP’s right to lead the alliance in the polls. MG Ramachandran’s party is in the doldrums after Jayalalitha’s death. With Chief Minister EK Palanisami not being in the same league as his predecessors, BJP must have thought the moment opportune to push AIADMK backstage. The ruling party, however, is not going to allow BJP to dictate terms.

Two AIADMK leaders said that Palanisami will lead the party in the 2021 elections. Fisheries minister D Jayakumar hit back at Duraisamy by wondering if it was his opinion or the party’s. He also said the issue will be decided before the elections.

Has the BJP gained enough ground in Tamil Nadu to hoist the saffron flag there or has Duraisamy jumped the gun? The party’s confidence seems to be based on DMK MLA Ku Ka Selvam’s meeting with JP Nadda, BJP national president, in New Delhi recently. Or a strategy to wean MLAs has been put in place?

Acts of rage occur when anger is allowed to build up until it erupts in a violent outburst of emotion.

With the information overload, many workers are sinking under a deluge of data.

Thus, venting anger has become just an unavoidable reaction to our high pressure, aggressive society. Also, economic woes lead to aggression and domestic violence.

Many of us don’t know how to express anger sensibly. Some throw childish tantrums, and others become violent, either verbally or physically. Some are outwardly calm but inwardly seething. Anger let on the loose makes a bad situation worse. We cannot think or act rationally in a provoked state.

All of us react to certain ‘anger triggers’, that is anything that frustrates or annoys.

These triggers result from injustice, unfairness, or a threat to our authority or reputation.

Our environment is filled with potential triggers because of the prevalent thoughtless mefirst attitude.

We cannot completely avoid the people or the things that act as anger triggers, but we can learn to control our reactions by changing the way we think.

It would be wise not to expect too much of ourselves or others.

Some people seldom get angry and quickly get over an affront, while others are easily provoked and hold on to anger for days, weeks, months or longer. As complex technology and the sources of stress increase, people have a tendency to lose patience easily.

Sometimes people use anger as a cover-up. They may be insecure or wanting attention or affection. By identifying its cause, we can learn to deal with it prop erly. Even when the cause of anger is not readily discernible, responding with words causing pain should be avoided. Venting anger by punching a pillow or hitting the wall increases aggression.

Just as an erupting volcano wreaks havoc on those living around it, so too a person who expresses intense anger harms those living around him. When we show anger, we often do not get the results we hope for because the other person is usually provoked to strike back.

Acting in a state of unrestrained anger is like ‘putting to sea in a storm.’ Even if there is a reason for anger, acting instantly can cause harm. The aftermath is a period of mental depression. So, we should not let our words fly freely in a torrent when perturbed.

Avoid saying the first thing that comes to mind. By looking into the situation deeply and considering all facts of a matter, we may find no reason to

What can end this tale of woe for a country whose capital once saw itself as the Paris of the Middle East?

Sadly, that image is long gone, destroyed by the 197590 civil war, corruption, and regional turmoil. The hapless government called a state of emergency in the wake of the port blast, only to be confronted by demonstrators chanting the slogan

As Riad al-Solh, the first prime minister put it, the aim was to “Lebanonize Lebanese Muslims and to Arabize Lebanon’s Christians.” The Christians were to distance themselves from the West, and the Muslims were to abandon the idea of Lebanon as part of a larger Arab nation.

The original premise was that Christians and Muslims were more or less equal in number. But the last census in Lebanon was conducted in 1932, and it is clear that Christians have become a minority in the decades since.

Immersing in activities like reading or listening to music is helpful. Also, regular exercise and a healthy diet improve inner control.

Have you ever said, “she provoked me” or “he made me lose my temper”? If so, others are holding the remote control to your emotions. The reasons to become angry is one’s personal responsibility. Admit to yourself, ‘i allowed myself to be provoked’, “I chose to overreact.”

Anticipate the problem. Ask yourself, ‘when is my temper most likely to flare?’ Then plan a better response. With insight, we can keep provocations in perspective We all get angry from time to time, but how we express anger is a matter of choice. How vital it is that our words be like a gentle rain that soaks the ground and is beneficial, not like an unwelcome torrent that sweeps away everything in its path!

‘Union Home Minister’s Medal’ for 121 cops including 21 women New Delhi: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) announced names of police officers who will be awarded for ‘excellence in investigation’. Of the 121 police personnel, 15 are from CBI. The list includes 21 women officers as well.

“The ‘Union Home Minister’s Medal for Excellence in Investigation’ for the year 2020 have been awarded to 121 Police personnel.

This medal was constituted in 2018 with the

objective to promote high professional standards of investigation and to recognise such Excellence in Investigation by investigating officers,” the Ministry said.

“Among the personnel receiving these awards, 15 are from CBI, 10 each are from MP and Maharashtra Police, 8 are from UP, 7 each are from Kerala and WB, and the remaining from the other States and UTs,” the MHA said.

Of the 121 personnel, twentyone are women police officers.

The recipients are from Constable to Deputy Commissioner of Police ranks. A total of 96 police personnel from across the country were awarded the medal last year. The medal was constituted in 2018 with an objective to promote high professional standards of investigation of crime and to recognise such excellence.

Last year, the Corporate Tax rates were reduced from 30 per cent to 22 per cent and for new manufacturing units, the rates were reduced to 15 per cent.

Dividend distribution tax was also abolished.

The focus of the tax reforms has been on reduction in tax rates and on simplification of direct tax laws.

Several initiatives have been taken by the CBDT for bringing in efficiency and transparency in the functioning of the IT Department.

This includes bringing more transparency in official communication through the newly introduced DIN wherein every communication of the Department would carry a computer generated unique document identification number.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi took extensive review meetings of the defence ministry departments dealing with indigenous defence production and development before the release of the negative import list by the government under which 101 items and equipment have been banned for procurement from abroad.

A few days ago, the Defence Ministry issued a list of 101 items compiled by the Department of Military Affairs including big-ticket items like submarines, artillery guns and assault rifles which would not be imported from abroad in a

phased manner in the next two to three years.

“The PM took an extensive review of the Department of Defence Production and DRDO in the last fortnight to know about the work being done by them and what all capabilities have they developed over these years,” sources said.

During separate review meetings held at the PMO, details were presented to the PM about the different projects and major work done by them for increasing indigenization in the military hardware being used by the armed forces for their different operational requirements, the sources said. —ANI

OVER 70% COVID PATIENTS RECOVER IN INDIA: GOVT New Delhi: The Union Health Ministry on Wednesday said that the country’s recovery rate has soared past 70 per cent due to successful implementation of an effective containment strategy, and aggressive and comprehensive testing coupled with standardised clinical management.

India has logged more than 23 lakh coronavirus cases and over 46,000 deaths. Even though the infections are racing ahead, with the country adding at least 1 lakh new cases every two days, the gap between recoveries and active cases is growing every day.

According to the ministry, “The record highest single-day recoveries at 56,110 was registered in the last 24 hours. The coordinated efforts of the Centre, state and UT governments have resulted in continuously increasing average daily recoveries. The recovery rate has reached another high of 70.38 per cent.”

“I talk straight forward. The government is stable and our intentions are not to destablise the government,” Singh said, adding that the MLAs are called rebels but they are not.

rom creating content for comedy genre to writing, directing and acting in an emotional short film ‘Almost’, Ankush Bahuguna is an absolute all-rounder. Released on 10 August, ‘Almost’ is a 6-minute short film which depicts the break-up of two mature people during the lockdown.

On being asked about how he came up with the concept of the film, Ankush stated, “It was a very impromptu idea of coming up with this. I just wanted to change the depiction of breakups in people’s mind- they often feel all the breakups end with huge fights; but what I feel is that at times there are two beautiful people who are not meant

to be with each other and things can always end up in good terms too. ‘Almost’ is a conversation between two people after ‘accepting’ the scenario of two people parting ways.”

Shibani Bedi, a fellow content creator of Ankush and an actor in the short film

said, “Collaborating with Ankush is something I’ll do in my sleep. The comfort level and chemistry we share is amazing, and the moment he showed me the script, I said yes- there was no second thought about that.”

“It took me about half an hour to write the script which was straight from the heart and about 11 minutes to shoot it. Shibani and I were at our respective places when we shot it- that was us ‘in the moment’. We didn’t want it to look over-dramatic, instead, we just kept it real,” mentioned Ankush.

‘Almost’ is an absolutely independent film with a team of three people who worked for two days straight- Ankush being the writer-director-actor, Shibani being the co-actor and Shoaib being the editor. It is being loved by the youth of the country as it gives out a whole new perspective of how breakups can be perceived by people if they act maturely upon it.

n the request of Tamil Nadu Prisons Department, Isha Yoga Center is conducting online Yoga sessions for inmates at all Central Prisons in Chennai, Vellore, Cuadallore, Trichy, Salem and Palayankottai.

Isha teachers trained by Sadhguru are delivering the online modules in Tamil to participants. The request was made by the state government’s Prisons Department to improve the physical and mental health of inmates.

RAJASTHAN: On the occasion of International Elephant Day, a virtual exhibition ‘Gaj Chikitsa - (Gaj Shashtra - The Science of Elephants)’ jointly organised by Department of Art and Culture, Government of Rajasthan, Jawahar Kala Kendra and Rajasthan Oriental Research Institute, Jodhpur was showcased online on the Facebook page of Jawahar Kala Kendra (JKK).

The virtual exhibition will also be available on the YouTube channel of JKK.

RAJASTHAN: The production of the biography ‘Sangharsh’ on a social worker, Babulal Saini from Pink City is going to start soon. The film will be directed

by Ram Singh Tidoki and MSK Pankaj; whereas Monika Lekhra is working on the story and DOP will be handled by Mangal Saini and Chandan Sharma.
