CHIEF MINISTER WRITES LETTER TO UNION MINISTER OF STATE FOR LABOR
Gehlot demands starting of Alwar ESIC Med College Naresh Sharma Jaipur: The Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has demanded the Central Government to start operating the Medical College-cum-Hospital at Alwar at the earliest, in the hospital building constructed by the Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC). He said that a large number of patients will be benefited by the availability of medical services in this hospital building with 500 beds. In this regard, Gehlot has written a letter to the Union Minister of State for Labor and Employment, Santosh Kumar Gangwar.
CM Ashok Gehlot
“The building constructed at a cost of about 800-900 crores has been constructed for the Medical College and Hospital, but currently only a small 50 bed hospital is being operated here. Due to this, the hospital building is not being used properly in providing medical facilities to the general public,” Gehlot said in his letter. The Chief Minister said that in the past it was considered to transfer the building to the state government and operate the hospital. “But according to an order of the Delhi High Court, it is not possible to transfer this building to the state government
and in view of the legal provisions and the decision of the court, the hospital is to be operated by ESIC only,” he said. Gehlot urged the Union Minister to provide instructions to the concerned agency for the operation of this hospital with 500 beds facility and said that this will help about 3,37,000 insured and their 9,67,000 family members residing in Alwar and surrounding areas. Apart from the fact that better medical facilities will be provided, the operation of a medical college here will help to overcome the shortage of doctors in the state in the coming years,” he said.
Gehlot terms phone tapping condemnable; cops file PE Naresh Sharma Jaipur: Even as the social media platforms went abuzz with a post that claimed that the Rajasthan government had taken permission to tap phones of 6 MLAs that are holed up in Jaisalmer hotel, on Friday, the Rajasthan Police clarified that it did not tap the phone number of any legislator. Sensing the seriousness of the matter, the Chief Minister himself came about and rebutted the
claim saying that such acts are ‘extremely condemnable’. “There is no tradition of phone tapping in Rajasthan. No phone is being tapped. It is illegal and all this is being promoted to spread confusion,” Gehlot said. It has been claimed in the WhatsApp message that phone numbers of around half a dozen MLAs staying at the hotel are being illegally tapped. The message is being circulated with a list of phone numbers.
Reacting to it, the state police in a statement said, “No unit of the Rajasthan Police did phone tapping of any MLA or MP, neither in the past nor in present.” The state police said the allegations are “imaginary and false”. “Rajasthan Police always acts to prevent criminal activities & illegal taping is a criminal act,” the statement said. However, late in evening a PE was registered with the Jaipur police in the matter. Turn on P6
