Maharashtra and Gujarat are bracing for Cyclone Nisarga which is expected to make landfall at the western coast by June 3 afternoon, said IMD. As per MeT, Nisarga will hit the coastal districts in the two states as a ‘severe cyclonic storm’ with wind speed of 100-110 kmph gusting up to 120 kmph. PM Narendra Modi on Tuesday took stock of the situation in the wake of cyclone condition in parts of country’s western coast. The Prime Minister urged people to take all possible precautions and safety measures.

New Delhi: Manu Sharma, a convict in the 1999 Jessica Lal murder case, was released from Tihar Jail on the grounds of good behaviour after serving more than 16 years in prison, jail officials said on Tuesday. Sharma had received the approval of LG for his release after a recommendation of the Sentence Review Board for the same. Sharma’s name was approved in a sentence review board meeting held on May 11. New Delhi: A “sizeable number” of Chinese troops have moved into eastern Ladakh and India too has taken all necessary steps to deal with the situation, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said on Tuesday, referring to the nearly month-long high-altitude standoff between the two armies. Singh said a meeting between senior Indian and Chinese military leaders has been scheduled for June 6 even as he asserted that India is not going to back off from its position. VARSITY EXAMS FROM 2ND WEEK OF JULY CM Gehlot instructed higher & technical education officials to conduct exams, that had been stalled due to Corona outbreak. After second week of July various Universities, associated colleges, technical universities and polytechnic colleges will release their schedule. “The exams for final year of UG and PG courses should be conducted first and the first and second year students should be promoted on provisional basis. Once situation becomes normal, exams of I & II year graduate courses and I year of PG courses should also be conducted,” Gehlot directed. He also instructed officials to ensure that health protocols are followed. Students & teachers should wear masks & sanitisers should be provided. Social distancing must be observed strictly and if needed number of centres can be increased.
