CAPT OPPOSES CHALLENGE TO LEADERSHIP New Delhi: Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh has opposed the bid by some Congress leaders to challenge the Gandhi family leadership in the party, saying this is not the time to raise such an issue. MODI’S SUNDAY DATE WITH NATIONAL BIRD New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday posted a video on his social media accounts in which he is seen feeding peacocks at his residence during his morning exercise routine. The 1.47-minute video also has a few glimpses of the prime minister’s daily walk from his home to his office within the Lok Kalyan Marg residence. BSF: Pak may bomb security set ups near border with drones New Delhi: Pakistan will use drones to bomb security establishments near the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir’s RS Pura and Samba sectors, the intelligence wing of the Border Security Force (BSF) has alerted. The security establishments, including the Indian Army, have been informed about the plans of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelli-
gence (ISI) to carry out the attacks in Indian territory. The BSF had alerted other security forces about Pakistan’s activities earlier this week. State Chief Secretary Anil Mukim also took
stock of the situation in the state on Sunday. All 251 talukas of the state received rainfall on Sunday with Kadi of Mehsana receiving 11 inches (289 mm) of rains in just 10 hours. It was followed by another town- Bechraji of the same district- which received 224 mm of rainfall. Currently, over 108 dams in the state are on high alert while an alert has been sounded at 17 dams. Due to good rainfall, farmers have con-
cluded 95% sowing of crops so far, hoping for an excellent harvest this year. With heavy spells of rain seen across the state, 57 talukas received more than 1,000 mm of showers, while 129 talukas received 251 mm to 1,000 mm of rainfall. Due to the huge inflow of water, many dams have released excess water with Ajwa Dam releasing 3,340 cusecs of water by lifting 62 gates. The Kadana Dam released 20,000 cusecs of water.
