Despite the large number of cases being added in the last few days, the spread of the disease in India has slowed down considerably in comparison to other countries as a result of the lockdown, say experts. J&K’s Amarnath Yatra U-Turn
New Delhi: The Jammu and Kashmir government has withdrawn a press release that said the Amarnath Yatra has been cancelled this year due to the coronavirus pandemic that has brought the country to a standstill. A press note released earlier on Wednesday said the pilgrimage scheduled from June 23 to August 3 was cancelled by the Amarnath shrine board during a video conference meeting. 16 ARRESTED FOR STONE-PELTING Ahmedabad: Sixteen persons, including three women, were arrested on Wednesday after a mob pelted stones at the police in Ahmedabad’s Sardarnagar area. According to reports, police were patrolling the area to effectively implement the lockdown, when they learnt that a crowd had gathered at a temple. When they tried to disperse the crowd, some people started pelting stones at the police team. An inspector and two jawans suffered injuries. The situation is under control.
