New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday held a review meeting with top security brass in the wake of the killing of four JeM terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir, and asserted that security forces have thwarted their efforts to wreak “major havoc and destruction”. Government sources said that the terrorists were planning “something big” on the anniversary of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack. In his tweets following the meeting, Modi said, “Neutralising of 4 terrorists belonging to Pakistan-based terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammed and the presence of large cache of weapons and explosives with them indicate that their efforts to wreak major havoc and destruction have once again been thwarted.” Turn to P6

MODI’S VACCINATION STRATEGY New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday chaired a meeting to review India’s strategy for Covid-19 vaccination and its subsequent delivery and distribution. Important issues related to the progress of vaccine development, regulatory approvals and procurement were also discussed. Various issues, including the prioritisation of population groups, reaching out to healthcare workers, cold-chain infrastructure augmentation, adding vaccinators and tech platform for vaccine roll-out were also discussed in the meeting, PM Modi said.

New Delhi/Panaji: Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi on Friday reached Panaji along with his son Rahul Gandhi after doctors advised her to shift out of Delhi for a few days to avoid the heavy pollution in the national capital in view of her chronic chest infection. Sonia Gandhi has been under heavy medication pursuant to her discharge from hospital in August, and doctors are concerned about her consistent chest infection, which has not gone on account of Delhi’s pollution, the sources said. The air pollution in Delhi has aggravated her asthma and her chest condition, and she has been advised by doctors to briefly shift out from here, they said. Gandhinagar: Barely 24 hours after a 57hour curfew was announced in Ahmedabad, the state government has decided to institute curfew in Surat, Vadodara and Rajkot from 9pm to 6am as well. The order will be in effect until further notice in all four cities. However, there are several exemptions, according to Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel, who announced the decision.
