Farmers reported extensive damage to the cash crops of groundnut and cotton. There is a flood-like situation in Kutch, Surendranagar, South Gujarat, including Surat, Vadodara, and some parts of Saurashtra. Many crocodiles were found in low-lying areas near Vadodara and

Vishwamitri river. According to the India Meteorological Department, there is a favourable monsoon condition in Gujarat. “The state is very likely to experience an active wet spell from August 16 to August 21. A red warning has been issued for Anand district,” the IMD bulletin stated. It stated that there was major damage to kutcha roads due to inundation, severe traffic disruptions and waterlogging in underpass

areas of some cities. The bulletin also informed about road accidents because of low visibility following heavy downpour. Mandvi and Mundra in Kutch district received the highest rainfall of 133 mm and 132 mm respectively in the last 12 hours. In all, 158 talukas received rainfall. According to the State Emergency Operation Centre, Gujarat has received 641.76 mm rainfall, which is 77.23% of its annual average till August 16.
