Gandhinagar: After Surat and Ahmedabad, now the cities of Vadodara and Rajkot seem to be catching up in COVID-19 numbers in the state. This worrying trend has emerged after Vadodara started reporting novel coronavirus cases in triple digits. On Sunday, though the highest number of cases (222) was recorded in Surat, Vadodara reported 110 cases and Rajkot clocked 95 cases in a single day. With an

Jaipur: Is the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) going through an internal ‘strife’ in Rajasthan? Are two ‘factions’ silently carrying out veiled attempts to negate the other? Is it really true that the saffron party’s ‘desert’ unit is being ‘polarized’? questions like these are making the rounds in political circles in Rajasthan as well as in New Delhi and the recent ‘tussle’ on shifting legislators out of Rajasthan and Raje’s perpetual ‘Delhi visit’ have only fanned the fire.

Political observers, highly familiar with the internal workings of the BJP, claim that while all may look good on the face, internally, leaders are riled up. Sources claim that the central leadership had asked for select few MLAs to be shifted to Gujarat and interestingly, these legislators are believed to be of ‘Raje camp’ in the party. However, during Raje’s Saturday meeting with senior leader and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, sources reveal that she raised an objection to the ‘shifting’, following which less than Turn on P6

Jaipur: Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Sunday questioned the shifting of BJP MLAs to Gujarat, saying the Opposition party was ridden with factionalism. His comments came in the wake of the BJP herding its 18 MLAs in the past two days to party-ruled Gujarat ahead of the Rajasthan assembly session beginning August 14. The BJP had claimed that their MLAs were being harassed by po-

lice and the administration at the behest of the Congress government in the state. Gehlot, on the other hand, defended the stay

of Congress legislators at a Jaisalmer hotel, saying the party required to keep them together to thwart horsetrading. Turn on P6
