Call for Bharat Bandh is a political stunt by parties: Rupani The chief minister reiterated that the ‘gimmick’ will not receive support of state farmers First India Bureau Gandhinagar: Chief Minister Vijay Rupani lambasted all political parties calling upon citizens, especially farmers, to join the Bharat Bandh being observed by protesting farmers in the national capital today. The farmers, who have blocked roadways near Delhi and other areas, are demanding the rollback of three farming laws recently passed by

the Parliament. Expressing his outrage over the call for bandh, CM Rupani stated, “The people who were once advocating for the abolishment of the Agriculture Produce Marketing Committee (APMC Act) and also the Essential Commodities Act are now demanding the scrapping of agriculture laws. ture and they will not receive any support from state farmers.” “In its manifesto for the 2019 Lok Sab-

The police will sternly deal with people who try to disturb the peace in the state.” Assuring farmers about the procurement of harvest at Minimum Support Price (MSP), the CM asserted that agriculture products will be acquired by the government and there was no question of discontinuation of the practice. Notably, the state has purchased agricultural products worth Rs15,000 crore at MSP from farmers in the past four years.
