FARMERS READY FOR LONG HAUL Singhu, New Delhi: The farmers’ blockade continues at Singhu on the Delhi-Haryana border for a sixth straight day today. Aerial shots of the border crossing show a seemingly never-ending line of tractors pulling tarpaulin-covered trailers, each of which is filled with food, water, fuel, medicines and other essential goods. The images reinforce the farmers’ message - that they will not back down till their concerns are heard and the new farm laws are repealed. At other camps in the Singhu blockade farmers can be seen preparing food on portable stoves; they’ve brought with them rations for six months.

Has AMC directed pvt labs to make two lists of COVID-19 results? AMC councillor Rajshri alleges city’s labs give ICMR, civic body different data First India Bureau Ahmedabad: Has the civic body directed the private labs in Ahmedabad to make two separate lists for the COVID-19 results? Are the number that goes to ICMR are less than which received by the civic body? These questions and more have
arisen after Chandkheda councillor Rajshri Kesari of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation accused the government of hiding data. It is to be noted that First India has repeatedly reported on the “data management” of COVID-19 by the government, and that the actual picture is not

shown to the people. The councillor’s allegations only serve to bolster our point. Kesari said Shivam Bungalows, the residential society in which she lives, was declared as a micro-containment zone after it saw an increase in the number of positive COVID-19 cases. “When I cross-checked the details with the local health officer, he said there were 20 positive cases. I know of 31 from my society, who were diagnosed by a private laboratory,” she said.
She further alleged that the private laboratory appears to keeps two lists--one for the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the other for the corporation--with disparate data. Kesari’s allegations seem to have a grounding in the facts A staffer at one of Ahmedabad’s private laboratories told First India that civic officials have in fact instructed them to prepare two lists of the COVID-19 positive cases for two
different organizations’ agencies. This person asked not to be named for fear of reprisal from the government and the lab itself. “Many patients who have been diagnosed by our laboratory had initial difficulty in getting admission at the cityrun Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel (SVP) hospital. In addition, the AMC does not pay any attention to asymptomatic patients, nor do their homes get a red (COVID-19 alert) sticker,” this person added. Turn to P6
