Centre issues new guidelines for international passengers New Delhi: Amid the rising concerns of the new COVID-19 variant ‘Omicron’, India has issued new guidelines for the international passengers arriving in India, after some countries reported cases of this variant. According to an advisory issued by the Centre, the self-declaration board form on Air Suvidha Portal, which has the travel history of the last 14 days of all international passengers arriving in India, is filled completely before boarding. “Separate holding area (while they are waiting for their RTPCR test results), maybe demarcated for the passengers coming from ‘at-risk’ countries in each airport, with proper amenities for passengers.

OPPN PROTESTS, STAGES WALKOUT Naidu rejects revocation of suspension of 12 MPs

New Delhi: Opposition parties including Congress, DMK, RJD, Left and AAP on Tuesday staged a walkout from the Rajya Sabha after their demand to revoke the suspension of 12 MPs was rejected by Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu. Soon after the House assembled for the day, Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge read a submission requesting the Rajya Sabha Chairman to revoke the suspension of 12 MPs from the House for the entire winter session. Kharge also pointed out that he was not allowed to raise a point of order and it is a gross violation of the rule. However, the Chairman denied revoking the suspension, saying the House named all members on August 10 and requested them to help in the functioning Later the Congress, Left, RJD and AAP members stood on their seats and started sloganeering against the government. As the Chairman continued the House proceedings and started Zero Hour, Congress leader Kharge said “we protest and walk out from the House”. Following this, the Opposition leaders held a protest at the Mahatma Gandhi statue in Parliament. The suspended MPs include six from Congress, two each from TMC and Shiv Sena and one each from CPM and CPI.

Free smartphones, tablets from UP Govt from Dec 2nd week Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh govt is all set to start the free distribution of smartphones and tablets to students, as earlier announced by CM Yogi Adityanath, from the second week of December. A dedicated portal ‘DG Shakti’ has been created for this which will soon be launched by the Chief Minister. Through this portal, distribution of smartphones and tablets and study content will be given to students. Apart from this, information

about smartphones and tablets will be given to the students from time to time on their mobile numbers and mail IDs. As a relief to students, they are not required to register anywhere to get free smartphones and tablets. The entire system, from registration to smartphone and tablet delivery, is free. The data of students is being given to universities by colleges and the data feeding is being done at university level itself. Till Monday, the data of about 27 lakh students had been uploaded on the portal.
