Also ich vor rund 17 Jahren beim Präsidenten des Dracula’s Ghost Riders Clubs, Rolf Sachs, einen «Asylantrag» für meine kleine Jazzreihe stellte, bin ich ehrlicherweise nicht davon ausgegangen, dass dies mein erstes und bisher ältestes «Kind» werden sollte.
Rolf Sachs gab meinem Antrag statt – und das Festival Kind durfte laufen lernen. Es kamen immer mehr Pflege und Adoptiveltern dazu; Sonderpädagogen und Fachärzte für Jazzkinder und natürlich viel Ritalin. Halt alles was es so braucht, um gross zu werden.
Unterdessen ist unser Festival da Jazz ein gestandener Teenager und auf dem besten Weg ins erwachsene Leben überzugehen. Waren es früher die grössten Namen, die wir auf dem Markt überhaupt finden konnten, setzten wir e n

About 17 years ago, when I applied to the president of the Dracula’s Ghost Riders Club, Rolf Sachs, for my little jazz series, I honestly didn’t think that this would be my first and oldest “child”.
Rolf Sachs granted my application— and this “festival baby” was allowed to learn to walk. More and more foster and adoptive parents came along; special educators and specialists for jazz chil dren and, of course, lots of Ritalin. Just everything it takes to grow up.
In the meantime, our Festival da Jazz is a seasoned teenager and well on the way to adulthood. In the past, it was the biggest names we could find on the

Durch Social Media und Youtube ist jede Art von Band, Musik etc. sofort auffindbar. Wer also einen Inuit an der Jazzharfe zusammen in einem Duett mit einem swingenden Maori am Schlagzeug sucht, wird online fündig. Die Szene ist lebendig wie noch nie, die Qualität bei den jungen Musikern auf einem wohl noch nie dagewesenen Niveau, basierend auf einem völligen Überangebot an musikalischen universitären Ausbildungsstätten weltweit. Jazz wird heute studiert anstatt im Keller oder auf der Strasse erlernt.

The time of the really big “dinosaurs” is definitely over; the so‑called mainstream, i. e. artists that everyone really knows, is dwindling. Thanks to social media, YouTube etc., every kind of band, music etc. can be found immediately. So if you’re looking for an Inuit on the jazz harp in a duet with a swinging Maori drummer, you’ll find it online. The scene is livelier than ever, and the quality of the young musicians is at an unprecedented level.
The quality of young musicians is prob ably at an unprecedented level, based on a complete oversupply of musical uni versities worldwide. Today, jazz is studied instead of learned in the base ment or on the street.
Das «New Generation #JazzLab» am Festival da Jazz sorgt dafür, dass die jungen Menschen gesamtheitlich eine Idee rund ums Musikbusiness erhalten. Denn es werden heutzutage viel mehr Musiker ausgebildet, als jemals auf irgendeiner Bühne spielen können werden.

Alles begann damit, dass einer hinging und befand, der Dracula Club wäre eigentlich ein ziemlich cooler Jazzclub. Das Festival da Jazz hatte seine Main Stage und seine Identität. Schnell kamen weitere Bühnen und Locations dazu – stets mit dem hehren Wunsch, aussergewöhnliche Spielorte für grossartige Künstler zu finden. Nach St. Moritz strömen keine Tausendschaften für ein Jazzkonzert. Also muss man den Hundertschaften etwas Aussergewöhnliches bieten. Folgend eine Übersicht der Bühnen für 2024. Viel Vertrautes, nichts Langweiliges.
DRACULA CLUB
Unsere geliebte Main Stage. Das Herz und die Seele des Festival da Jazz St. Moritz. Von Gunter Sachs gegründet und nun unter der Leitung von Künstler und Designer Rolf Sachs. Der «Dracula’s Ghost Riders Club» ist im Winter Dreh- und Angelpunkt des St. Moritzer Partylebens. Im Sommer öffnet der Club für unser bescheidenes Festival seine Pforten. Viel Platz bietet er nicht, dafür erleben Sie bei uns die intimsten Konzerte mit den Stars der Jazz-Szene. Sein urchiges Interieur verbreitet eine charmante Aura, weit weg von seelenlosen Kongresszentren und austauschbaren Konzerthallen. Die unglaubliche Nähe zwischen Künstlern und Publikum wird von beiden Parteien ungemein geschätzt. Ein Mangel an Sitzkomfort wird durch die einzigartige Stimmung mehr als wett gemacht.

Thanks to myths, fairy tales and truths, the Club of the Vampires, founded by Gunter Sachs in 1974, has over the years be come a legend and under the presidency of his holiness, the designer and profes sor with a chair in England, his highness Rolf Sachs, it has definitely gained cult status. Intellect and humour come together here, even if it is just to leave the daily grind behind for a while. Here it’s improvisation with a capital I. Since 2007 the vault has been given a breath of fresh air: jazz. The Dracula Club is the heart of the Festival da Jazz. With just 150 seats it offers an ideal club atmosphere and a delightful tem porary home for artists and visitors alike.

Der kleine, idyllische Stazersee ist das schmuckste Naherholungsgebiet der Region. Auch dieses Jahr freuen wir uns auf ein Sunrise-Concert am Morgen und ein echtes Happening zum Sonnenuntergang. Das Festival «get-together» schlechthin. Und als weitere Premiere: Gregorianischer Gesang morgens um halb sechs.
The small but enchanting Lake Staz is the prettiest spot for leisure and relaxation in the region. Again this year, we are looking forward to a sunrise concert in the morning and a real blast for sundown. The quin tessential get together at the Festival. And another first: Gregorian chants at half past five in the morning.
Seit 1910 (!) finden auf dieser schmucken Waldlichtung die legendären Kurkonzerte der Camerata Pontresina statt. Seit 2017 darf auch das Festival da Jazz diesen Zauberflecken bespielen. Wir freuen uns 2024 auf einen weiteren Geniestreich mit Thierry Lang am Flügel.
Since 1910 (!) the Camerata Pontresina performs concerts at this pristine location in the woods near Pontresina. Luckily, since 2017 the Festival da Jazz is also al lowed to produce a little magic in this one of a kind location. In 2024 we are looking forward to the amazing talents of Thierry Lang on the grand piano.

Der Ort, wo alles begann. Bevor das Festival dank Rolf Sachs im Dracula Club Unterschlupf finden konnte, organisierten wir erste Konzertreihen im Weinkeller des Hotels Kronenhof. In regelmässigen Abständen kehren wir mit grosser Freude zurück an den quasi prä-historischen Ursprungsort des Festivals.

Für die Opening Night bedarf es eines Acts, der die häppchenverschlingenden Gäste aus ihrem Smalltalk reisst und sogleich in den Bann zieht. Eine Situation wie geschaffen für die knallbunte Funk-Bass-Bombe Nik West. Schon ihr erster Auftritt in St. Moritz, 2018, sorgte für eine ausgelassene Party, bei welcher jeder freie Quadratzentimeter im Dracula zur Tanzfläche umfunktioniert wurde. Farbig, laut, wuchtig und groovy bis zum Ladenschluss – das ist Nik West und ihre schweisstreibende Funk-Show in der Tradition von diversen Grossmeistern wie Funkadelic oder Prince.
For the opening night, you need an act that will break the small talk of the guests devouring snacks and immediate ly captivate them. A situation made for the brightly colored funk bass bomb Nik West. Her very first appearance in St. Moritz in 2018 was an exuberant party where every square inch of the Dracula was transformed into a dance floor. Dieser Sound ist echt und klingt noch lange nach.
Pascal Gamboni writes simple, poignant songs. Often, but not exclusively, in Rhaeto‑Romanic. He has been invited to the famous CMJ Festival in New York and was voted SRF 3 Best Talent. Bis in die legendäre Sendung «Top of the Pops» führte die sehr steile Karriereleiter. Nicht übel für einen instrumentalen Jazz-Funk Track inmitten der neonfarbenen Pop -Acts dieser Zeit. Auch vierzig Jahre später sprudelt der Groove – einem Geysir ähnlich – unablässig von den Bühnen, welche Mezzoforte beehren. Ihre eindrückliche Live-Show paart Spielfreude mit exzellenter Präzision und begeistert Fans von Europa bis Japan.
The Icelanders from Mezzoforte landed a veritable top 20 hit with their very first single “Garden Party” in 1983. The very steep career ladder took them all the way to the legendary show “Top of the Pops”. Not bad for an instrumental jazz‑funk track in the midst of the neon‑colored pop acts of that time. Forty years later, the groove—like a geyser—continues to bubble incessantly from the stages that Mezzoforte grace. Their impressive live show combines joy of playing with excel lent precision and delights fans from Europe to Japan.

Nach einem grandiosen Konzert bei Hausers vor ein paar Jahren wurde uns schnell klar: Diese subtile Groove-Maschine namens «Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio» muss ins Abendprogramm des Festivals. Letztes Jahr musste sich Delvon kurzfristig von seinem geplanten Konzert an der Opening Night entschuldigen. Darum folgt heuer der schnellstmögliche Versuch, diese wundervolle Band wieder nach St. Moritz zu lotsen. Dieses Mal in der Sunny Bar, die den nötigen Platz bietet für den hüftbeschwingenden Sound des Organ Trios. Oh Yeah.
After a fantastic concert at Hauser’s a few years ago, it quickly became clear to us that this subtle groove machine called the Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio had to be part of the festival’s evening program. Last year, Delvon had to excuse himself from his planned concert on the Opening Night at short notice. So this year, the fastest possible attempt will be made to bring this wonderful band back to St. Moritz. This time to the Sunny Bar, which offers the necessary space for the hip‑swinging sound of the organ trio. Oh yeah.

Ob elektronischer Folk, Nu Soul oder Kammerpop: Anna Känzigs musikalisches Universum kennt keine Grenzen, was nicht verwunderlich ist, da die in Zürich geborene Singer- Songwriterin in einem sehr musikalischen Umfeld aufgewachsen ist. So fand Anna schon früh ihre Berufung, die sie später auch zum Beruf machen durfte. Ihr erstes und zweites Album, noch dem Unplugged-Folk verpflichtet, erschienen 2011 bzw. 2013. Das dritte Album von Anna Känzig, geschrieben von Anna und ihrem Schlagzeuger Django Hodosy und arrangiert vom London Grammar-Produzenten Roy Kerr, wurde in London aufgenommen und erschien im Frühjahr 2019. In letzter Zeit arbeitete sie viel mit dem Schweizer Sänger Tobey Lucas zusammen und ist an verschiedenen Musiktheaterprojekten beteiligt.
Whether electronic folk, nu soul or chamber pop: Anna Känzig’s musical universe knows no boundaries, which is not surprising given that the Zu rich‑born singer‑songwriter grew up in a highly musical environment. Anna therefore found her vocation at an early age, which she was later allowed to call her profession. Her first and second albums, still committed to unplugged folk, were released in 2011 and 2013 re spectively. The third album by Anna Känzig, written by Anna and her drum mer Django Hodosy and arranged by London Grammar Producer Roy Kerr, was recorded in London and released in spring 2019. More recently she worked a lot with Swiss singer Tobey Lucas and is taking part in various projects involving musical theatre.

Ein mit dem Album verknüpftes Musical zur gleichen Geschichte, verfasste Somi auch gleich selbst. Mit ihrer samtweichen, gefühlsbetonten Stimme erzählt Somi Geschichten über Liebe, Identität und Selbstbestimmung. Ihre Musik spiegelt ihr panafrikanisches Erbe und ihre globalen Erfahrungen wider. Somi’s last album “Zenzile: The reim agination of Miriam Makeba” was a gran diose and very personal homage to the greatest female musician on the African continent, who rightly gained fame as a great fighter for human rights. Nach einer gelungenen Liebeserklärung an den grossen Bill Withers darf man José James bei seinem dritten Auftritt am Festival da Jazz deutlich persönlicher erwarten. Auf der ersten Single seines eben erschienenen Albums thematisiert er etwa den Mord an George Floyd in seiner Heimatstadt Minneapolis. Das komplette Album pulsiert aber auch mit den Vibes von Marvin Gaye, Prince und Stevie Wonder. James erkundet geschickt die Grenzen der Black Music über die Grenzen seines Heimatlandes hinaus und kollaboriert erfolgreich und äusserst inspiriert mit Künstlern aus Südamerika und Afrika.
After tipping his hat to the great Bill Withers, you can expect José James to be much more personal in his third ap pearance at the Festival da Jazz. On the first single from his recently released album, for example, he addresses the murder of George Floyd in his home town of Minneapolis. Er teilte Bühnen und Projekte mit Miles Davis und Herbie Hancock, aber auch mit Aretha Franklin, Brian Ferry und Carlos Santana und sehr vielen anderen. Heute fördert und befördert er als Elder Statesman auch die nächste Generation in seinem Dunstkreis des Jazz, Soul und Funk. Und irgendwann wird man über diese Jungen sagen, sie hätten einst die Bühne mit Marcus Miller geteilt. Geschichte eben.
A 45‑year career and awards for his life’s work, although he is still very active on the road: Marcus Miller belongs to a rather small group of jazz giants. Salvant ist eine eklektische Kuratorin, die selten aufgenommene, vergessene Lieder mit starken Erzählungen, unerwarteten Wendungen und Humor ausgräbt. Die verstorbene Jessye Norman beschrieb Salvant als «eine einzigartige Stimme, getragen von einer Intelligenz und vollendeten Musikalität, die jede Note, die sie singt, zum Leuchten bringt».

Als Fünfzehnjähriger hörte Thierry Lang zum ersten mal den Pianisten Bill Evans, der sein «Denken» für viele Jahre beeinflussen sollte. Inspiriert von dieser Musik fand Thierry Lang eine ausgezeichnete Verbindung von Klasssik und Jazz, die in Windeseile Markenzeichen seines eigenen Klavierstiles wurde. Als talentierter Komponist mit einem ausgezeichneten Gespür für die Melodie wurde er schnell ein Meister auf diesem Gebiet. Eben noch mit seinem Heritage Trio bei uns, nun solo und ganz unverblümt auf der Lichtung im Taiswald.
At the age of fifteen, Thierry Lang heard the pianist Bill Evans for the first time, who was to influence his “thinking” for many years. Inspired by this music, Thierry Lang found an excellent combina tion of classical music and jazz, which quickly became the trademark of his own piano style. Neal Sugarman war Saxophonist und Co-Founder der «Dap-Kings», welche lange Jahre mit Sharon Jones unterwegs waren und als Backing Band auf Amy Winehouses Debütalbum zu hören sind. In St. Moritz beehrt uns Sugarman mit seiner «Five». Ein stimmiger Mix, smooth auf der Schnittstelle zwischen Jazz und Soul. Eigene Stücke stellen sich nahtlos neben die gelegentlichen Covers. Oh yeah.
Neal Sugarman was saxophonist and co‑founder of the “Dap‑Kings”, who were on the road with Sharon Jones for many years and can be heard as the backing band on Amy Winehouse’s de but album. Tribute to Ennio Morricone featuring Pepe Lienhard mit grossem Orchester
Ennio Morricone hat Musik zu fast 500 Filmen geschrieben: «Spiel mir das Lied vom Tod», «My Name is Nobody», «Cinema Paradiso» – etwas Hommage ist durchaus angebracht. Initiiert durch Pepe Lienhard und umgesetzt durch Daniel Rohrs unvergleichliche Musik-Geschichten-Erzähl-Maschine im Theater Rigiblick. Spielerisch führen Hanna Scheuring und Rohr durch den Abend, der gespickt ist mit den bekanntesten Themen des Grossmeisters. Der Filmregisseur Roberto Faenza sagte: «Ich erinnere mich besser an die Musik als an den Film. Morricone hat das Format ‹Filmmusik› erschaffen.» Legendär.
Ennio Morricone wrote the music for almost 500 films: “Play me the song of death”, “My Name is Nobody”, “Cinema Paradiso”—a little homage is definitely in order. The band Journeys has already traveled far and wide—one tour even took them through China. However, the music of Journeys sounds anything but Chinese, but is rather unmistakably influenced by American West Coast fusion, i. e. re laxed and groovy in equal measure: it conveys an attitude to life characterized by laid‑back serenity, which can be as sociated with sunshine and cool drinks.

Mit jedem Konzert kreiert Hiromi eine eigene Stimmung, eine Geschichte, eine ganze Welt sogar. Auch auf ihrem neuesten Album «Sonicwonderland» strotz sie nur so von Virtuosität und Innovation. Ein Album aufzunehmen sei vergleichbar mit einem Filmdreh. Und Regisseurin Hiromi sucht für ihren «Film» jeweils die passendsten Mitmusikerinnen und -musiker. Verspielt, einnehmend und vor Spielfreude sprudelnd – das ist ein Konzert von Hiromi.

Es mag etwas irreführend wirken, «Slatec» als die Kammermusik-Variante von der «Jazzrausch Bigband» zu bezeichnen. Ganz falsch ist es aber nicht: Slatec funktioniert mit einer deutlich reduzierten Besetzung aber nach ähnlichen Mustern. Starke, schlagkräftige Beats, die Aorta verbunden mit elektronischer Tanzmusik aber mehrheitlich analog ausgeführt. Gleich zweimal freuen wir uns auf die Konzentrat-Variante der modernen Ballroom-Banger.
It may seem a little misleading to describe “Slatec” as the chamber music version of the “Jazzrausch Bigband”. But it’s not entirely wrong: Slatec works with a significantly reduced line‑up but follows similar patterns. Strong, powerful beats, the aorta combined with electronic dance music but mostly analog. We can look forward to the concentrate version of the modern ballroom banger twice.

Since their last appearance in St. Moritz, wind instruments have been reinforcing Ida Jane’s soulful sound. Nach vielen schweisstreibenden Konzerten der wuchtigen «Jazzrausch Bigband» in der stets überfüllten Sunny Bar erlauben wir uns für einmal einen Szenenwechsel ins Reine Victoria. Die neueste Geschichte: Angenommen Anton Bruckner wäre 1985 geboren. Mit der Jazzrausch Bigband und ihm fegt eine orchestrale Klangwolke auf Dubstep-Grooves durch den Saal und über die Bühne. «Bruckner’s Breakdown» lässt Freiraum für virtuose Improvisationen, während fundamentale Bässe und feingeistige Sinfonik im Wechselspiel polarisieren. Whumms.
After many sweat‑inducing concerts by the powerful “Jazzrausch Bigband” in the always overcrowded Sunny Bar, we allow ourselves a change of scene to the Reine Victoria for once. The latest story: Suppose Anton Bruckner had been born in 1985. With the Jazzrausch Bigband and him, an orchestral cloud of sound sweeps through the hall and across the stage on dubstep grooves. “Bruckner’s Breakdown” leaves room for virtuoso improvisations, while fundamental basses and subtle symphonics polarize the inter play. In den frühen 80er-Jahren war es ein gewisser Astor Piazzolla, welcher Richard Gallianos Karriere mit ein paar feinfühligen Hinweisen auf eine neue Bahn lenkte. Gallianos Reise als Künstler war lanciert und mündete in seinem Genre definierenden New-Musette Stil. Seither streift Galliano erfolgreich und stets höchst inspiriert durch unterschiedliche Gefilde. Heute sagt er über seine Konzerte treffend: «Die Konzerte, die ich heute gebe, erzählen die Geschichte eines Künstlerlebens, meines Lebens, den Lebensweg eines Kindes, das von der Leidenschaft für die Musik und für die gesamte Musik beseelt ist.»
In the early 1980s, it was a certain Astor Piazzolla who steered Richard Galliano’s career onto a new path with a few subtle hints. Galliano’s journey as an artist was launched and resulted in his genre‑defin ing New Musette style. Since then, Galli ano has roamed successfully and always highly inspired through different realms. Today, he aptly says of his concerts: “The concerts I give today tell the story of an artist’s life, my life, the life of a child in spired by a passion for music in all its variations.”

Bald 30 Jahre ist es her, dass Linard Bardill durch Luzern schlendernd einen jungen Strassenmusiker anspricht, dessen Fähigkeiten Bardill offenbar inspirieren. Die Weichen für die Karriere des Pippo Pollina waren gestellt. Schnell macht sich dieser selbst einen Namen als feinfühliger und äusserst poetischer Cantautore. Album folgt auf Album und schon nach wenigen Jahren teilt er Bühnen und Projekte mit Grössen wie Georges Moustaki, Angelo Branduardi oder Konstantin Wecker. Nach längerem Warten freuen wir uns unendlich, den grossartigen Liederschmied wieder bei uns begrüssen zu dürfen.
It was almost 30 years ago that Linard Bardill, strolling through Lucerne, ap proached a young street musician whose skills obviously inspired Bardill. The course was set for Pippo Pollina’s career. He quickly made a name for himself as a sensitive and extremely poetic song writer. Album followed album and after just a few years he was sharing stages and projects with greats such as Georges Moustaki, Angelo Branduardi and Konstantin Wecker. After quite a while we are overjoyed to finally welcome this one‑of‑a‑kind songsmith back to the Festival.

In diesem Konzert treten die vier New Generation # Jazz Lab Mentoren in den Vordergrund, die sich ansonsten im Hintergrund der edlen Tätigkeit der Nachwuchsförderung auf höchstem Niveau widmen. 2024 freuen wir uns erneut auf Aaron Goldberg (Piano) und Gregory Hutchinson (Drums), welche beide bereits zum zweiten Mal mit von der Partie sind. Ergänzt wird die Mentorengruppe heuer durch die grandiose Sängerin Robin Mc Kelle und den Bassisten Reuben Rogers. Quasi eine veritable Super- Group, ganz exklusiv, nur am Festival da Jazz.

In this con cert, the four New Generation # Jazz Lab mentors come to the fore, who other wise dedicate themselves in the back ground to the noble activity of promot ing young talent at the highest level. In 2024, we are once again looking for ward to Aaron Goldberg (piano) and Gregory Hutchinson (drums), both of whom will be taking part for the sec ond time. This year, the mentor group will be complemented by the amazing singer Robin McKelle and bassist Reuben Rogers. A veritable super‑group, only once, at the Festival da Jazz.

The three have been inseparable since their teenage years, growing up together with a shared passion for jazz. The GTO Trio has been gaining momentum more and more over the last few years, grooving, swinging hard and above all creating their own band sound which is a delightful bundle of positive energy. The ancient chants are part of the identity of monastic life, structure the day, give it shape and support. The monastic hymns tell of great rituals that shape life and interpret nature. Singing the monastic lauds at sunrise is part of Origen’s cultural DNA. The simple Hours have been part of the annual program since the festival was founded. They are interpretations of life, reflect the breathing creation and accompany the course of the sun.

Kaum angekommen, wurde aus einer einmaligen Chance ein sechsjähriges Engagement als Sängerin für Van Morrison. Nun steht sie endlich selbst im Mittelpunkt. Mit einer Stimme, die Tiefe und Emotionen ausstrahlt, malt Masters lebendige Klanglandschaften und entführt die Zuhörer in ein Reich, in dem jede Note eine Geschichte ist, die erzählt werden will. Berühmtheit erlangte er erstmals mit diversen «viralen» Videos seines Auftritts an der NAMM 2018. Heute verfeinert Molina seinen ganz eigenen Stil weiter, geprägt von seinen grössten Vorbildern wie Oscar Peterson, Art Tatum und Bill Evans. Willkommen in St. Moritz.

A true discovery: the multi‑faceted soul singer and songwriter Rislane with her band The Lovers. Rislane is an exceptional Swiss‑Moroccan artist whose velvety voice has the ability to pen etrate deep into your soul. In her album “Newland”, the North African‑Euro pean artist seamlessly blends rock and soul, demonstrating her dedication to music. Rislane can currently be seen in a classical jazz formation and has rearranged her album for this purpose.

Jazzanova aus Berlin prägten nicht nur als DJs und Produzenten massgeblich das Genre Nu-Jazz, sondern haben vor 25 Jahren mit «Sonar Kollektiv» ein Label für Musikliebhaber:innen ins Leben gerufen. Seit über 15 Jahren begeistern Jazzanova mit ihrer Live-Band Fans auf der ganzen Welt durch eine mitreissende Mischung aus Jazz, Soul und elektronischer Musik. Zwanzig Jahre nach der Veröffentlichung ihres Debütalbums «In Between», das sie als Vorreiter des Nu-Jazz etablierte, wird die 9 - köpfige Jazzanova Live Band das Album erneut auf der Bühne präsentieren und dabei die samplebasierte Arbeitsweise in Zusammenarbeit mit talentierten Musiker:innen erlebbar machen. Magisch.
Jazzanova from Berlin not only played a key role in shaping the nu‑jazz genre as DJs and producers, but also founded a label for music lovers 25 years ago with “Sonar Kollektiv”. For over 15 years, Jazzanova and its live band have been delighting fans all over the world with a rousing mix of jazz, soul and electronic music. Herr Schneider berichtet: «Jedes Jahr überlege ich mir für St. Moritz etwas ganz besonders Bescheuertes. Im letzten Jahr waren es meine aktuellen Musiker, die nicht wussten, wo wir hinfahren, als wir in Kiel in Norddeutschland losgefahren waren. Dieses Mal habe ich vor, einen weissen Barockflügel mitzubringen, einen Schlagzeuger, der in Erdkunde so schlecht ist, dass er noch nicht einmal weiss, wo die Schweiz liegt und einen erst 2 Jahre alten Kontrabassspieler, zum Glück kann er schon laufen. Leider hat meine langjährige, flüchtig bekannte Freundin, die Sängerin Shirley Bassey, ich kenne sie von Schallplatten, wegen Ahnungslosigkeit immer noch nicht zugesagt. Ich habe sie nämlich noch nicht angerufen. Aber ich hoffe, sie kommt und singt. Das wäre der absolute Hammer! Auf jeden Fall freu ich mich schon total auf die Höhe und dünne Luft auf St. Moritz! Danke! Wir kommen!»
Mr. Schneider reports: “Every year I come up with something particularly stupid for St. Moritz. Last year it was my current musicians who didn’t know where we were going when we set off from Kiel in northern Germany. This time I plan to bring a white baroque grand piano, a drummer who is so bad at geography that he doesn’t even know where Switzerland is and a double bass player who is only 2 years old, luckily he can already walk. Unfortunately, my friend of many years, the singer Shirley Bassey, whom I know from records, still hasn’t accepted because of her clue lessness. I haven’t called her yet, but I hope she comes and sings. That would be absolutely amazing! In any case, I’m really looking forward to the high altitude and thin air of St. Moritz! Thank you! Here we come!”
