Although this sounds like a country song, it’s not!
If you have visited the library in the last month, you have noticed that the adult area is very hot. That’s because the AC is broken. Many people have asked when it will be fixed, and the answer is not encouraging. We need to replace several parts of the unit and they are hard to come by with it being the middle of summer. The best estimate for the repair is November.
We have made some adjustments so that adults can use computers, print or scan, get notary services, and find a quiet place to sit and recharge (themselves and their phones). We have placed some comfy chairs and charging stations in the back of the program room along with the newspaper collection. Adults are welcome to use this area for quiet work, reading or just to relax all day on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday; and after storytimes (about 12:00) on Wednesday and Thursday.
While the adult computers, printing and scanning, and notary service had been previously located in the program room, we have moved it to the MakerSpace until the AC is fixed or the temperature drops significantly. Everyone can still use the MakerSpace materials, as they are located near the picture books. Fans have been placed in the small study rooms upstairs and they are open for use if you need a place to have a meeting in-person or virtually.
We are very sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, but we are confident that we can still provide the great service you have come to expect from your Library!
Summer Reading is winding down as school time looms at the end of the month, but there are still several weeks of reading and fun at the library!
You can enter adult raffle tickets for reading until August 17th. Prizes will be awarded on August 23rd. Kids and teen can continue reading until the end of month. All prizes can be collected a the children’s desk when you present your reading log. Kids programming will continue every day through August 16th, with two special programs for kids and families on Friday, August 9th and Saturday, August 23th.
