My fellow tablers.

With mental health awareness being a critical and important topic and issue we need to give much needed attention. Reach out, speak to your fellow brothers, Do a check in and follow up. We should be here for each other.

Our 3rd Assco meeting happened two weeks ago, we had the best time with our brother at Sani 152. Seeing Pevency place and the impact past tablers have made in communities, running for more than 50 Years. That’s impactful change. Kevin and the boys from Sani 152 pulled out all of the stops for the weekend with such great fellowship the whole weekend and a very constructive meeting we a lot was discussed about what we have done for our communities as an organisation. I salute all of you from the Area Chairman to the Joe Tabler, we have had a great year, I employ you all to keep your heads down and we finish up is style.

My calendar year as President and area visits have effectively come to an end, I still need to visit Namibia and then official visits are done, I want to talk you all from the bottom of my heart all of the found memories, it has been an epic year to say the least.

I’m so grateful about the opportunity to be part of this amazing organisation, the people I’ve met, the places I’ve seen and the memories made will last a lifetime.

I can only say thank you Round Table thank you for allowing me to be here and serve you.

Enjoy the festive season and break. Take care and be safe.

1. Show up fully: Don't dwell on the past, and don't daydream about the future, but concentrate on showing up fully in the present moment.

2. Don't make assumptions: If you don't know the situation fully, you can't offer an informed opinion.

3. Be patient and persistent: Life is not so much what you accomplish as what you overcome.

4. Luck comes from hard work: Luck happens when hard work and timing and talent intersect.

5. Be always your best: You never know what the future will bring, so always make the best use of the present.

7. Listen to learn: Learn how to listen. You can't learn anything when you're talking.

8. Life's good, but it's not fair: The delusion that life's supposed to be fair is the source of much unhappiness.

9. No task is beneath you: Don't put yourself above anyone or anything; work hard in silence and let success make the noise.

10.Don't make decisions when you are angry or ecstatic: The best decisions are made with a clear conscious mind, not in the throes of any emotion positive or negative. (72 hour rule)

A VISIT TO MARGATE 46

With the past October school holidays the family and myself took a much needed holiday down to the South Coast. While driving down it dawned on me that where not far from Margate 46 and that I have not been or seen their club house. I proceeded to make contact with Marius Bergh Margate 46 Vice Chairman to see if they might have a meeting in the time we were down there…and lady luck would align the stars that it would be so. Plans were made for me and my cousin in law (my wife's cousin's husband) to join in on their meeting.

Rocking up at the club house we where received with open arms and felt like I was joining one of my own table’s meetings. It was amazing to see how a meeting was run and how productive it was. As they ran through their projects, they gave insight on how and why the projects are run.

Mid way through the meeting, supper was served and all I can say: Amazing. With closure of the meeting we all relaxed and took places up next to the bar counter and fellowship was the order of the night. The stories that was shared was like none other. As the hours grew later and then at 00h00 grew earlier the fellowship grew and we started loosing men a long the way.

My cousin in law ( as stated above) enjoyed this night so much he could not stop talking about how that not even being a tabler how welcome everyone made him feel, well not so much the day after (yes, not just morning but day, he was one badly broken man). He said he does not know how we survive visits like these every meeting or raids. My word to him was “this is nothing compared to a ARTSA”.

I would just like to thank Marius and all the gent at Margate 46 for hosting us. Until we meet again.

Adopt. Adapt. Improve.

Kind Regards

U.S.A TRIP

On the 4th of June I attended The Round Table USA AGM held in the Manhattan Financial District. This was also held in conjunction with Ladies circle AGM. It was by sheer luck that I was able to attend.

I was in New Jersey visiting my fiancés family and made contact with Stephan Wagner, RTUSA President and member of New York 1.

He mentioned that their AGM was coming up and I was in. It was a very intimate AGM in a bars private functions room, as RTUSA only consists of NY1. Nonetheless the boys put on a fantastic day. We had members from Germany, Sweden, Estonia and the Netherlands.

Banners were exchanged between myself and Stephan and great fellowship was had after the meeting. That evening was the gala dinner held at a restaurant overlooking The Statue of Liberty. It was awesome meeting these gents from the US and Europe and I hope to see them all again soon.

TUGELA 2022 GONG SHOOT

On the morning of the 30th of July 2022, Tugela 2022 held their first Gong Shoot in Bergville area. For our first time having this event we had 12 teams entered, this was a good turnout for a first time round event. Each team consisted out of 3 people.

The day started early with the first people sighting in their rifles. After that there was coffee, rusks and some scones for breakfast.

Briefing started at 8am and shortly at 8:30 everyone was ready to start the day. The ranges consisted out of 6 gong ranges. Of the 6 ranges, 5 of the ranges were normal. The 6th range was a very small gong (100mm) and was very far 545m. The distance of the 6th range was unknown; this was the trick. The prize for it was a whole lame, that had been sponsored. Lunch time we had steak rolls and boerewors rolls that everyone could buy. At dinner we had a pig on the spit with some sides. The bar was run by the Tugela 202 guys. We had some great prizes. There was a lucky draw prize, this was a 6mm Creedmore rifle, this was won by, Mr Braithewaite. We would like to thank all our sponsors; Case Bergville, Hillbilly’s hunting and outdoor, Adam Vermaak and Driaan Minnie. Thank you to Mr Buchanan for allowing us to use his farm for the event and Bergville Bowls Club for their premises for the prize giving. We are already busy planning next year’s gong shoot. The date is 29 July 2023, Save the Date.

THE BERG SHOW

After a couple of years unable to assist at the local fundraiser, “The Berg Show” due to Covid-19, Tugela 202 was finally able to host a big fund raiser again.

The Winterton community and surrounding towns looked forward to hosting the 10th Annual Berg Show. Tugela 202 was responsible for running the bar and all the drinks on the two-day event. The Berg Show was held on the 2nd and 3rd of September 2022. The gates opened at 10am on Friday, everyone was excited for a good weekend as it is known that this is a jol not to be missed. There were lots of activities for everyone and lots to see from young to old. The line up for the Friday night was exciting, it started off with Afrikaans band, Reën, followed by Ricus Nel. Both these artists were amazing.

On Saturday morning there were demonstrations made by F.R.E.D.D.I.E.S. they are a local volunteering emergency group, thereafter there were performances by Drakensberg Boys choir. A real attraction to the main tent and bar area was the Springbok rugby game on the big screen where everyone gathered to watched. The afternoon ended off with our local Drakensberg Rugby team, playing against the Natal Legends. It was an awesome game to watch.

Saturday night started with a bang as a local artist, Murray, got the night’s festivities going. He was followed by Saarkie, Rubber Duc, Good Luck and Veranda Panda. The night ended with local DJ, DJ Colin playing music to the early hours of the morning.

It was a long weekend with lots of hard work, wore feet and sore stomach muscles from laughing but throughout this weekend great fellowship was made. The Tugela 202 boys and legs were tired on Sunday, as it was one of our biggest fundraisers this year.

A very big Thank you to PMB 12 and Hilton 242 that came up to help us and contributed to great fellowship.

BOAT RACE DINNER 2022

On 15th September 2022, we once again had the honor of hosting this year's formal rowing dinner.

Round Table Port Alfred 177 served 254 rowers, coaches and association delegates from nine different universities from across the Country. The students came dressed to impress.

They all looked beautiful and handsome some sporting the most outrages hair styles and colors, which am very sure they had been planning since the last rowing event!

The evening went off very well, with speeches and wise words from a couple rowers, then supper was served and followed by heartwarming and very cool videos from each team participating in the event, the evening ended off with some yummy dessert.

This event has once again proven to us, what an amazing community we are lucky enough to serve.

This dinner would not have happened without the help from the business in town. Unlimited Fitness, DKDK Distributors, Tashs Craft Bar, Pick n Pay Heritage Mall, Rosehill Super Spar, Kowie Tobacco, Hotspot and Kekkel and Kraai.

Thank you very much for supporting us to support our community. Together we make a difference.

INDUCTION BY THE SEA

“To Develop Fellowship Among Young Men” the first words in RTSA objectives, River Ramble was the best example of how Alex/Kenton 210 does this.

Early October 2022 on the banks of the Kariga River the rumbling of men having a good time was herd, River ramble had begun.

Friday afternoon Alex/Kenton 210 waited for clubs from PE, Cradock and Grahamstown to join us at a local watering hole where the journey would begin. Boats anchored on the beach waiting for passages to be ferried up the river to our home away from home for the weekend. A warm flickering of flames, the smell Shisanyama and the taste of an ice cold beer was how we survived the load shedding that night with good company. The next morning waking up to the smell of bacon but seeing a tabler in his underwear franticly grinding at his reel trying to land a fish will remain seared in to my mind for ever, or so I thought. For a whassapp was sent out an induction would happen that morning.

18

Sitting around the dock at Horns up Guilym (Chairman A/K210) greeted all clubs, members and welcomed to the floor Mr Pienaar Allers (EP Chairman).

When my name was called it felt like I was back at school and getting called to the principal’s office. Looking over all the people sitting there I remembered all these faces staring at me was my brothers and there was nothing to be nerves about. Getting that pin on my shirt was one of the best moments of my life second only to marring my wife and the birth of my child. Arriving home Sunday morning I greeted my wife hugged my child and thought to myself what a wonderful family I have in and out of Round Table. difference.

TRI AREA FREE STATE - ALDAM

Let me start off by saying, a must do again!

The journey started off in PE when Paul Nel, Jacques van Wyk and myself started the road trip. We though it best to cut the trip somewhat in two, so first stop was in Cradock and meeting up with the tablers of Cradock 37 the Thursday evening.

Gees and fellowship it was, thank you to Simon and Rene that home hosted us! Paul and I in true fashion enjoyed our second home…the caravan, best sleep in town

The next morning, the road trip continued with the last stretch to the Free State, but wait first a stop at the chemist to get some cocktails for a burning sensation in Pauls’ foot. Then quick snack at the Steers and of we went to take on another 800km. Finally, we arrived at Aldam about 100km north of Bloemfontein. What a beautiful setting overseeing Aldam. We all stayed with Louis and Colleen Du Toit in a chalet, thank you Louis and Colleen for letting us in, you are super hosts and friendship made for a lifetime!

The afternoon kicked of with some refreshments around the accommodation for some Gees building and great fellowship. Then it was over to the festivities of the evening, oh boy was it fun! Laughter dancing, romantic dinners, new friendships, great food, great music. You name it and it was there an all inclusive package for happiness!

20

Saturday it was the three meetings of the Free State, Northern Cape and SNTOFS. It started of an official opening with everyone gathering, then the areas split for the individual meetings. Everything was well organised and orchestrated. The three of us raided the various meeting during the day and exchanged banners, it was great to learn from other ways of doing things.

Following all the formalities the fellowship continued through out the day into the late night, the three of us was responsible and decided to have a braai at the accommodation since we had to leave early the next morning, again it was great fun with Louis and Colleen that evening and laughed way too much!

The next morning it was up early for the journey back home, a big thumbs up to the convenors and Free State area you made it a memorable one! Many thanks a weekend for the books!

21

KZN TRI AREA – NEWCASTLE

I first me it was me, in EP area there is an unspoken rule that one must complete three Tri Area visits. So minimum two more for me, with out a doubt I will visit again. What an experience.

So we, Paul and Juanita Ferreira and myself and Yolande Allers set sail for a very long journey from Port Elizabeth to New Castle for the KZN Tri Area 2022. As the sun came up we stopped at Cradock for a quick leg stretch but also for a quick meet and greet with Cradock 37 Chairman, Stefan “Troep” Mare and lol to raid some stuff. Then it hitting the road again to our first destination in Ficksburg to be hosted by Louis and Colleen du Toit.

I must admit the road was long but the entertainment in the car made it way shorter! Paul and myself came up with brilliant ideas through brainstorming to a point where we had to start making notes. LOL…we also came up with an idea to start a business called the “The Lube Guys”, don’t judge but instead whats app us for more details and exclusive offers!

We made it to Ficksburg after dodging potholes for kilometres in the east free state, fun it was! Then quick refreshment at the home of Louis and Colleen, then us gents went through to the Ficksburg 68 meeting, great meeting and great people and new friendships made!

The rain poured down but did not stop us from making a fire, then back home it was for a night cap. Thank you Louis and Colleen for letting us in, you are super hosts and friendship made for a lifetime!

The next morning we went on a search for locally produced cherries and biltong in Ficksburg, then set sail for Newcastle. We stopped to see the beautiful town of Clarens then continued the journey and stopped in Winterton for some fellowship an banner exchanged with Tugela table. Then it was the last stretch to Newcastle. We arrived settled down and the four of us made a social braai the Thursday evening with some Gees!

22

The Friday we waited for the crowd to arrive and we settled us down at the local pub and so the other tablers joined one by one and built some Gees. Then it was over to the festivities of the evening, oh boy was it fun! Laughter dancing, new friendships, great food, great music. You name it and it was there an all-inclusive package for happiness!

Saturday it was the three meetings of the Drak Area, Natal South Coast and Natal North Coast. It started of an official opening with everyone gathering, then the areas split for the individual meetings. Everything was well organised and orchestrated.

Paul and myself raided the various meeting during the day and exchanged banners, it was great to learn from other ways of doing things.

I finally had the privilege and honour to exchange jackets with NNCA Area Chairman Ronald Fagan, a long standing tradition & exchange agreement between EP Area and NNCA.

Following all the formalities the fellowship continued throughout the day into the late night with great fellowship and Gees, some Michael Jackson and Twinkle Toe dancing by members of Free State and Bushveld Area!

The next morning it was up early for the long journey back home, a big thumbs up to the convenors you made it a memorable one! Many thanks a weekend for the books!

REQUESTED ARTICLE TITLE STORY OF A PIPELINER

Membership has always been a big drive for our organisation, and Kirkwood 78 has had a good run in having pipeliners endure the journey of learning what Tabling is about and see the passion other Tablers have before deciding to join themselves.

Estiaan Ferreira officially joined Kirkwood Round Table on the 6th of July 2022, which was an extra special night with RTSA President, Werner Swanepoel, present for an official visit to our business meeting. With the Eastern Province Winter Conference that following weekend, it was decided that Estiaan would rather be inducted in Adelaide with a whole host of other dignitaries present and Table chairmen from the Eastern Province area. Estiaan grew up on their family farm in the area of Elandsrivier and attended Nico Malan High school in Humansdorp. After completing his Matric he enrolled at Kovsies to study law and completed his articles and passed his bar exam specialising in criminal law. During his studies at Kovsies he met current RTSA vice president Louis Radley and Daneel “Shades” Meiring. During his 7 years practising law, he worked on high profile cases, one being where he gave expert opinion on the Oscar Pistorius Reeva Steenkamp case.

However, working with his hands was something he was always for yearned for, and returned home to farm with his father, but that was short-lived as he received an opportunity to apply his skills on a farm in the USA. During this time his plans were always to return to South Africa, and the perfect opportunity came up right here in the small town of Kirkwood with Meiring Citrus working in their brand new citrus packing facility.

Joining Round Table was definitely not a difficult decision for Estiaan as giving back in time and effort was always a moto that he lived by.

Yours in Table

GRAHAMSTOWN 11 FEEDBACK

For Grahamstown Round Table 11 (RT11), it has been a busy latter half of 2022 with numerous fundraising, fellowship, and community engagement events and projects on the go.

The biggest highlight for the Club during this time has been another bumper DKMS Sunflower Day. With fundraising for blood cancer and blood disorder testing, tissue typing, and raising awareness as the mission for DKMS, Tabler Dudu Nyakotyo has turned RT11 into national leaders in selling ‘topes’ for the past several years. This yearRT11 raised over R37 000 to support people with leukaemia and other blood disorders. Special thanks must go to the staff and learners of Graeme College who on 23rd September again held a special Sunflower Day walk in support of the annual initiative. With dozens of boys taking part, this has become a valued event in the community calendar. The very next day on the 24th September, RT11 Tablers set up a food stall at the Salem 8’s cricket tournament hosted by Salem Cricket Club. Against the beautiful backdrop of the church and school hall, and under a near hailstorm of cricket balls clearing the boundary rope, Tablers Elrico de Bruyn (Vie Chairman), Grant Gordon (Secretary), and Greg Wilmot (Chairman) cooked up breakfast buns, roosterbroods, and tasty steak rolls for players and spectators through the course of the day’s action. With a weary eye on the shower of sixes coming off the field, RT11 was able to raise over R3500 to supplement their Welfare coffers for distribution in the Makhanda community.

While the rest of his peers enjoyed a leisurely Saturday, Vice Chairman, Elrico de Bruyn saddled up for the Rhodes Health Suite annual Cyclathon on the 8th of October. With R2000 being donated by RT11 towards the Queen of Hearts congential heart disease project, Elrico tallied up 81 kilometres over three consecutive Spinning classes.

27

On the 21st October, RT11 held the annual Charity Golf Day at the Belmont Golf Club in Makhanda. With sixteen 4 balls teeing off under a shotgun start, the fun format of Scramble Drive, and paid for Mulligans to help any duffed shots, it was a well run day.

Apart from a generous host of prizes for the first seven places, the donated auction items is always a big drawcard for the event. With items ranging from Cloud Nine mattresses, Fibre installation and hosting, get aways, and a game drive, t was an excellent event that in total netted over R48 000 for Rt11. On Saturday 6th November, RT11 Tablers got out on the trails of Mountain Drive as they ran two important Waterpoints on the 15km and 30km routes of the Oldenburghia Trail run hosted by Get Out and Run.

What started as very wet and miserable quickly cleared into a hot day out on the trail for the runners and Tablers alike. This is a fantastically beautiful route and an excellent event that RT11 will definitely be partnering with again.

Lastly, RT11 will be hosting the EP Area Spring Conference on 18 19 November where Round Tables from across the Eastern Cape with guests from across the country, will be descending on Makhanda.

OFM CHIP 4 CHARITY

On the 22nd of June 2022, Welkom 40 was privileged to host the OFM Shoprite Chip 4 Charity in Welkom. This was part of a drive by OFM to reach out to their more outlying listeners base in the Free State, Northwest and the Northern Cape. A week prior to this, Hartswater 186 also had the privilege to host an installment of this wonderful drive by OFM and Shoprite Checkers.

The day turned out beautifully and more than 80 hopeful golfers started teeing off from 08h30 at the Oppenheimer Golf Club in Welkom. The day turned out to be a massive success with over R80 000 raised and distributed to the Welkom and Virginia SPCA’s. The OFM Big Breakfast Show also broadcasted live from the Oppenheimer Golf Club. Welkom 40 Chairman, Stephan Theunissen also got his 15 minutes of fame and had a fun interview with Shandor, Sam and Margaret. Zac Steyn provided the entertainment for the day and all the players was singing along beautifully to his hits! True to form, The Tablers had a bucketload of fun on the day as the pictures shows! Welkom 40 would like to thank the following people and organisations: OFM for their commitment, gees and money spent on the day. They worked immensely hard to get everything ready and their sponsorship ensured that Welkom 40 had no expenses on the day.

31

The team was friendly, engaging and incredibly competent. The live broadcast was fun to listen to and the presenters also were the life of the event. A special thanks goes to Central Media CEO, Nick Efstathiou who contacted us and offered us the partnership.

Shoprite Checkers for providing the prizes on the day as well as the extra vouchers that was sponsored to the Welkom SPCA.

All the businesses in town that sponsored greens and tees, played golf and bid on the various auction items. Your money has been put to good use and the SPCA’s of Welkom and Virginia were incredibly grateful for your support.

Thank you to the community that supported the project.

NG KERK WELKOM SUID BOEREWORS ROLLS

NG Church Welkom Suid enlisted the help of Welkom 40 for a fundraiser that they had on the 8th of October 2022. Our Chairman, Stephan Theunissen hooked the first Tabler that he could find and rushed to help. On the Day, Shaun Stevens even managed to talk his girlfriend into helping. Welkom 40 helped them to braai wors for the fundraiser and sell boerewors rolls. The church managed to raise over R2000 on the day and the left over boerewors rolls were donated by Welkom 40 to the Welkom Jeugsorg Sentrum. This is a great example of what we can do when we work with organisations that have similar interests and goals as Round Table. Welkom 40 would like to thank Stephan Theunisse, Shaun Stevens and Charmaine Coetzee for sacrificing their Saturday morning to help out.

The school is also the only special needs school in Bloemfontien, and they have a high demand in supplying to the basic needs of their students to operate on a daily basis.

The Main sponsor for the Evening was Bloemsec a local Security Company that goes the extra mile for the community of Bloemfontein. The Evening was held at the Premises of Lettie Fouche, and for the first Bingo evening that we held, we were hoping for 170 people to attend. At the end we sold 210 tickets that made the first evening one to remember. This will now be an annual event, with the Main sponsor tied up for the future.

The evening was filled with lots of fun and excitement. The MC for the evening was Dean Ririe, also a 41er of Bloem 25. The prizes up for grabs on the evening was worth R20 000 making this one of the biggest Bingo evenings in Bloemfontein if you take attendance and prizes. We have raised R27 000 for Lettie Fouche, that will indeed make an impactful change to the students, in helping them with their special needs. Dankie aan een elke tafelaar wat hand bygesit het by die projek. Ons sien uit om net van krag to krag te gaan met die projek, en dankbaar aan almal wat dit moontlik maak om dit ‘n jaarlikse instelling temaak. YIT Umpa Bloem 25.

YIT Pieter Cockeran

It’s no secret that the Wolfpack of Northridge are the most social guys around. They have gotten their Gauteng passport stamped and have managed to attend a crazy amount of business meetings - making them official raids too.

After successfully hosting an area meeting, we had our first international guest for the year, all the way from Seychelles. Ramadz Vielle joined the official world pack in a social event filled with laughs and of course the infamous Howler.

We were gifted with pins and banners from our fellow tabler and shared stories of various table events and the famous Regatta event that Seychelles hosts. What a festival of fun that looks like!

We encourage everyone in Table to get in touch with travelling talers and host them. It’s an easy way to adopt, adapt and improve.

It’s great to explore the fellowship within table and see the massive impact we are making within our communities. The fellowship is an integral part of creating a sustainable future within Table to ensure the legacy continues.

Raids are a great way to introduce new guests to the ways of the best gentlemen’s club in the world.

Our clubhouse is getting filled with all the raided regalia, so if you’re around reach out to us.

The Wolf pack awaits. Awooooo #Howling YIT Donovan Farinha

ONE RAND PROJECT

On Saturday the 29TH of October we had a R1 project to support the brave foundation. The Brave foundation have 15 Families they support in and surrounding our area and they reached out to Round Table Boksburg 17 for assistance. We decided that we will do a drive to collect non-perishable food items.

Round Table Edenvale 63 lend us their helping hands on the day to hand out flyers to the public with the cause printed on them as well as a R1 attached to go toward a purchase of the items listed.

We chose Karaglen Spar in Edenvale for this project, and we set up our branding. Round Table Boksburg17, Round table Edenvale63 and the ladies from the Brave foundation working together on the day managed to collect items to the value of R10210.13, Four Trolleys Full!!

The Spar was more than willing to let us scan all the items to tally up the total as the project in turn generated more sales for them. This Project also creates a platform which allows the general public to give towards a charitable cause and this makes them feel a part of something bigger. A lot of times the general public do not know how to get involved or how to give back or how to pay it forward and this kind of project allows them to do exactly that.

Awareness was created within our community with the Rondel flying high.

We ended the project by enjoying a couple of cold ones together. Thank you to all who participated and to those who donated.

SPITTING LAMB AT POTCH

KUIER FEST

2022.

BOKSBURG 17 SPITTING LAMB AT POTCH KUIER FEST 2022.

Our project was planned, and we hit the road early in the AM’s on Saturday morning the 5th of November. We were ready to take on the Potch kuier fest and sell pulled lamb buns. We had two lambs to spit… MacGyver style!!

We pitched up our area Branding and Gazebo on our allocated spot just after 7am and we lit the fire.

We initially tried one strategy by suspending the lamb over two braai’s graciously loaned to us by Round Table potch 47. This technique proved unsuccessful as we had difficulty turning the Lamb which cost us quite some time. We then took our 4 scaffolding frames and created a box frame on which we could rest the lamb and make the fire below it.

Taking our latest Guest Kevin Nhlapo on a journey to STNOF’s along with Franco Putter from Round table Edenvale 63 and Wez De kock from Jukskei 217. Each bringing their impactful input to the Project. Wez de Kock who is a qualified chef brought the infamous Jukskei 217 basting sauce to baste the lamb with, this was the secret ingredient, and you can ask anyone who was there how delicious this was. We sold over 40 Kilograms of lamb that day, mostly “Pulled” onto buns but the ribs were the craze of the day.

44

The main event of the day was the rugby, obviously, as the Boks were playing against Ireland. The Band Saarkie provided us with some awesome live entertainment and music along with Freckled Elvis and a few local Potch bands.

But the highlight for us was the Round table gees with the STNOF’S gents, even though the work was hard it was worth it. Especially for the younger tablers and Pipeliner that came with and experienced some out of area Tabling.

The Potch 47 Gents were very supportive throughout the day, and we would like to thank them for the Braais and also the Gees. Jacques “Silver Fox” Legend Tabler supplied us with the best fire word we can ask for. Thank you, Jacques!!

Our sales Table was set up right Next to Cartonville 50 “Cartoonville” as they drew all the attention with their “Get your Preggo’s” chant which helped us get business as well. As expected, Jason “The donkey” Scott was the loudest person there.

After a successful day of hard work and fellowship at Kuierfest, we eventually packed up at 12am and we were back off to Gauteng. All in all, we definitely learnt a lot, Kuiered a lot, and just had a blast.

Thank you, Potch 47, for organizing this awesome event and for having us! Untill the next one. Cheers!!

BMG EXPERIENCE FOR PIPELINER

BMG 2022 took place at an amazing Holiday resort in Nylstroom by the name of

“Weesgerus”, what an amazing venue and time this turned out to be…

Northridge 117 including myself the new Pipeliner at NRT 117 attended this amazing event. People came from all over, some if not most did not really know each other at all at first but what was very clear is that everyone was immediately friends here. It was the strangest thing, people who never even met were immediately as close as brothers and would help each other with probably anything by looks of things. The feeling in the air was like something we never feel anymore, the feeling of calm and bliss, the feeling and sense of “belong”. It was mostly strangers all over the place for me still being a Pipeliner but yet I felt like I’ve known most of these folks for years and like I could work and get along with any single one of them at any point.

I got to know and became friends with more folks from Round Table than I can count at BMG which led me to grave for even more… I couldn’t help but find myself wondering “If BMG is this great, what must ARTSA be like?”. I for one will never miss a BMG event with my fellow brothers going forward and I’ll be sure to attend ARTSA if BMG was this amazing.

46

From start till the end it was all good and fun. I decided go camping at Weesgerus instead of booking a chalet and very quickly realized that I didn’t even have to lock anything, I could just leave my stuff wide open which was a very weird and new experience. The food was absolutely divine, the stuff I can only imagine kings would normally be eating. I also didn’t even have to worry about my wife or my kids, there was something to do for everyone.

The venue has so much to offer, me and my loved ones always had something to do. During social gatherings at night is when things especially got fun, there was no need for me to even to watch my kids. The whole environment and place were completely safe with fellow tablers all over the place keeping an eye on the kids. They could all play and enjoy themselves safely and all the adults could relax and socialize without having to worry about a thing…. Sounds like the stuff we can only imagine and yet it was all real. Joining Table and Joining the Wolfpack at Northridge 177 was probably one of the best things I did which I can only wish I did sooner in life…

SPUR’S 55TH BIRTHDAY WITH ROUND TABLE SANDOWN 150

Spur recently celebrated their 55th Birthday, and how they celebrate their birthday every year is by inviting 20 30 kids from a charity or orphanage home to have a free meal and a drink at one of their restaurants. Golden Spear Spur Cresta then made contact with Round Table Sandown 150 in order to host a charity and celebrate the day with the community.

The Charity that was selected was One Small Act of Kindness (OSAOK). After our discussion with Spur, we immediately made contact with Kelly from OSAOK to find out if they would be interested and if it was something they would be able to do, being a busy organisation.

After discussions with Golden Spear Spur Cresta, we were not only able to help with 30 meals, but at the end of a 3 day event, we were able to do over 85 meals to the value of R24 000,00. Nicholas from spur has been an absolute legend in arranging and running this, giving back to the community is a big part of his drive and we all would like to thank Nicholas Michaelides and Golden Spear Spur Cresta for their willingness and efforts.

Seeing all those little kids being able to choose their own meals and Milkshakes, getting their faces painted, playing in the playing area, running around with their Spur masks on and just seeing how excited and happy they were made us all feel so happy and warm inside.

48

OSAOK has a charity school where they develop young minds from all ages. They have a foster care home with babies, older kids, and even teenagers. They have daily feeding schemes that happen every day at 9AM and 4PM where they have the regulars and the new coming and grabbing a free meal from all over.

On top of all the work they do, they still manage to help smaller charities with whatever they can, from lending a helping hand, to helping with a meal where they can. They also have this great initiative where they don’t give away donations that have been made to them, but they rather give bags of hope to the unemployed on the street. These bags will have clothes in them, and the people will go out and sell them to make money in order to buy food and cover their daily needs. This creates an environment where people learn to trade and earn money for themselves in order to look after their families.

OSAOK also helps members in the community that are struggling with drug addiction. They take them in, get them cleaned up and sober, and help them to either go to a rehab to get rid of the addiction, or just by providing that little bit of support to start fresh on a different path.

The team working at OSAOK are a small family of hero’s that do so much for the community out there! Big thanks to OSAOK and Golden Spear Spur Cresta!

EQUIPMENT FOR THE YOUNG TENNIS STAR

It all started on a very cold Saturday Morning on July 02,2022 Middelburg 126 went to one of our local Spar’s at Kanonkop in Middelburg and we set up our new Gazebo and the rest of our Branding items to make the community aware we are doing a good Project for the misfortunate and the other people in need. We had taken one of the shopping trolleys and put it in front of the table and the Gazebo. We attached a small note onto a R10.00 note to explain why we are doing this project and to assist with more information on who we as Round Table are and what we do.

It was a slow start but when the community realized and understood what the cause was for it was a huge success, we could almost not keep up emptying the trolley fast enough to make space for more essential food and goods the people donated for the day. We ended up using two trolleys to as how fast the donations came in.

About at 15:00 the afternoon we started to pack up and clean our area and took all food and gifts to our New Clubhouse at Middelburg Care Village where the rest of the hard work started as we had to count everything and sort it all out.

The total of food received was over R18091.00 this was n new Record for Middelburg 126 on what we have collected from one Spar on one day's work. Gavin Geldenhuys

We called the Middelburg Care Village Manager to ask if they would be available for a donation of all the items and Food we received from the day as they have a huge need and even more children to feed and take care of. They were in ecstatic and very generous to accept the donation. As a small explanation here is an idea of some figures and items we received and donated. Almost 70kg Tactic rice, 40 kg Pasta,60 kg Maize Meal, 193 cans of baked Beans,50 cans of Bully Beef,64 cans of sweet corn. And the list goes on there are way too many to name.

A big thank you to the Local Spar Manager and the community for they help a great success and wonderful day. Thank you to all the Middelburg 126 Guys with the friendly and hard work. You Guys impress me every day and what a great privilege it is to be doing it with you.

RT126 Braai Day

Braai Day!! Middelburg 126.

To my esteemed fellow Tablers! Middelburg 126 had the honor and privilege to host not 1, but 2 braai’s on one day! This is any true South African’s dream come true.

But as we all know turning dreams into reality takes hard work and dedication. The gents from 126 banded together and through hard work, a couple of swear words and team effort made our own wors for the braai’s to come. I would say around 80kg +/was produced! The Meat Came from our Bok Bok Raffle Project that was Held in May where Jasiri Hunting donated Wild Meat, The gents from 126 processed the meat and stopped the sausages themselves. Finally, the day arrived to go and treat all the kids at Bethesda House of Hope. The fire was started, cold ones was opened and 200 pieces of wors was on the grid in no time.

The shear look of excitement on the little kids faces when the wors and buns was handed out was a true reality check to realize why we have become part of one of the greatest organizations created! The next hour or so that followed was spent on loading a HOT braai with coals still burning onto the bakkie to head towards the next location......CARE VILLAGE! The next couple of hours was spent on preparing another 200 odd wors rolls and handing it over to the kitchen staff of care village.

This followed with great fellowship flowing into the nightly hours as we were joined by our Legs and little ones.

To be quite honest we did not eat or braai wors for the next couple of weeks that followed! I would like to thank my fellow tablers of Middelburg 126 for the succesfull day!

Yours Truly –

RESTORING OUR COMMUNITY

On the 16th of July 2022, Middelburg RT 126 banded together to make improvements at a local soup kitchen where children are being cared for. One of the best things about being a tabler is the appreciation of fellowship and bonds that you create while driving impactful change.

Muluzi Homebase Care has long been driving impactful change in the Middelburg community and it was time for a few upgrades. From simple thing like fixing doors and lights to securing the storage room from the outside we did it all. A fresh coat of paint and sink installation in the kitchen will ensure a cleaner environment for the heroic workers that work at the soup kitchen.

Round Table Middleburg 126 would like to thank two 41ers who started and kept MHBC running all these years, Herman Doi Geldenhuys and Willie Swanepoel, it is tablers like you that drives impactful change and ensure that the work they did while in table will live on and those less fortunate will keep benefitting.

THE SECOND GENERATION TABLER

EXALTATION

Round Table has a certain pedigree as it is synonymous with traditions, upliftment of the community and elevating the network and business aptitude of its members. A pedigree which started over 95 years ago with its roots deeply entwined for more than 66 years in Namibia through the charter of Round Table Windhoek 34.

In many businesses that have been in existence for years the sceptre of ruling is passed from one generation to the next when the right time has come. And the right time has come for the induction of our latest member in the 34 stable, Mr Daniel Werner Leicher. Raised by a Tabler, his father Stephen was a member of the cadre of Round Table Hochland 154 before his untimely passing in a car accident whilst Daniel was still a little boy.

Daniel has been introduced to 34 through 41er Herman Karsten who shared the former’s mobile number with IRO/PRO Werner who in turn passed it on to the Membership and Extension’s Officer. Right from initial contact Daniel was intrigued and attended his first Round Table business meeting in March 2022.

The rest is, as they say, history. However, the quick advancement of only 7 months from guest to Tabler is astonishing but very well deserved. Daniel has in this period attended practically every business meeting, social meeting, the Winter Area Conference, various handovers, raids and even co convened the Huis Maerua project at the beginning of September. What adds to our decision of inducting him into our club unanimously is the fact that he is actively engaged in topics being discussed and shares his views and opinions on the various matters whilst also listening to the old guard around the table. Round Table as a

58
Receiving a warm welcome to RT by 41ers Eghart Visser (154) and Herman Karsten (34) Daniel receiving his induction pin at the Area Conference

For Daniel it is an honour to be a Tabler and to now be a part of 34, though it couldn’t have been easy not to follow into his father’s footsteps to become part of Hochland. He himself described his decision as follows: whilst both Round Tables have a lot to offer for him personally 34 is a better fit for him. Who could argue? At the end of the day, it does not matter for as long as a worthy new inductee joins this phenomenal organisation of like minded gentlemen.

The induction itself was an emotional one and very special. Eghart Visser explained just too well how magnificent it is that so many Tablers in Namibia Area are already second generation Tablers whose fathers passed down the legacy onto them.

With that in mind we from 34 wish Daniel a long and prosperous Table career and look forward to all the great things you will achieve and how you will transform Table in the years to come. Though the only constant in life is change, never forget to uphold the traditions, and recite the aims and objectives in your head if you are ever in doubt of what you are doing is the right thing.

Rest assured you have an incredible journey ahead of you that shall change the man who you are now for the better and will enable you to become a true leader.

Yours

JOHAN’S DIVORCE – WITHOUT ALIMONY

For most it is just a casual fling, for others it’s the relationship of a lifetime. No, the talk here is not about Kim Kardashian and her suitors but rather about the floozy that is our very own Jollie Ollie.

Due to its advanced age the mascot elephant is due to retire soon and shall be replaced by a newer, albeit different, model to keep the Tablers getting together.

One could clearly see the devastation and sorrow in Johan’s eyes when he was “forced” to hand over our wooden relic, but it was long overdue for him to do so. The excuses and reprimands to release the hostage out of custody had overwhelmed him. Clearly Mr Burns (Johan) had separation anxiety coupled with a fetish for “organisms” that are, well, old and wrinkly, but the Tablers had to come to Jollie’s rescue. He is now being fostered and nursed back to health by our latest inductee, Daniel “Tapout” Leicher, who was also visibly emotional. Let’s hope he does not get too attached and will release the famous talisman to the next deserving recipient as laid down in the rules that accompany the Jollie Ollie i.e. within the next calendar month. Take good care of him, mate!

To those who missed out: it was a really lekker get-together at Mr Burns’ house in Elisenheim and thank you for welcoming us into your and Jumandie’s house. Please seek therapy as a means to get better should the trauma of the inevitable “divorce” not subside.

NAMIBIA OCTOBER AREA CONFERENCE

It was hot, bloody hot, sometimes windy, and always dusty. Nevertheless, the October Area Conference for Namibia hosted by Round Table Hochland 154 was extremely well attended, meticulously organised and great fun. A total of 47 adults and then quite a few children spent the weekend of the 7th to 9th of October 2022 at the Stolzenfeld Saloon Campsites just off the C23 on your way to Dordabis for the final Area Conference of the year.

Seen from the perspective of Windhoek 34, though, the event was not well represented by our own. A mere 3 Tablers and a Pipeliner (whom we inducted at the Area Conference) were there in physical attendance. May our attendance improve in the future.

Arriving there on the Friday evening we were greeted by Bavarian and Austrian folk music to headline the theme which was Oktoberfest. Cold Hansa Draught on tap was readily available and consumed to quench the thirst right after setting up of our campsites. Thank you for looking after our wellbeing, Hochland comrades.

Eghart and Alwyn, the 41ers, treated us to phenomenal and theme appropriate cuisine throughout the weekend. The filter coffee in the mornings via French press was very surprising and a welcome change to the instant chicory enhanced powder that is ordinarily the norm. Thank you for the superb food you have prepared for us!

The delegates from Swakopmund 145 arrived in a Land Rover and therefore not surprising only at 23:30 on the Friday night, yet some of them partied until after 5 am to clench the last man standing title.

61

However, to be a deserving recipient, one cannot arrive a mere 9 and a half hours before the conference starts. Sorry, Bertus, better luck next time. The last man standing can’t be the last one to arrive by quite a few hours.

The actual meeting went very well with all reports prepared, available and the attendees fully sober as it was a “dry” meeting. It started off by Walvis Bay 36 delegates presenting the theme and venue for the Namibia Area AGM to be held in February 2023. We continued by inducting three new tablers into our Namibia Area: Devon (213), Andre (154) and Daniel (34). The highlights and issues as per the points on the agenda were discussed with enthusiasm as we progressed through the meeting.

Since it was so hot many Tablers enjoyed a swim in the pool after the meeting just to cool off before the evening’s Bavarian themed party commenced. Again, the food was on point and appropriate to the theme and many tablers and legs partied late into the night.

On the Sunday it was very noticeable that the Tablers that have joined from the coast were the first to leave as they had quite the road ahead of them. Thank you to everyone who joined and made this a very well attended event.

To the convenors from Hochland 154: it was a memorable Area Conference we shall continue to speak about for many years to come.

36 NUMBERS MEETING HOSTED BY WALVIS BAY 36

On Friday 15th July, our first batch of guest arrived in Windhoek. Our brothers from Windhoek 34 and Hochland 154 welcomed them and hosted them until they were sent on their way, via shuttle, to Walvis Bay on Monday Morning.

Meanwhile, on Sunday 17th July, Mupi was welcomed at the Walvis Bay airport by me and Joppie with beers and kleine keile. We took him to the clubhouse for some drinks and entertainment. Randomly, an international guest that mixed up his bookings, popped in at the clubhouse (Martin Visser). We played spyker block and had a few drinks. After some great fellowship, Martin and his son were on their way to their tour.

Monday, it’s D Day, the last of the beers were bought, the clubhouse was clean, the fridge was stocked, music was ready, registrations were officially open. At just after lunch, the guests had arrived. Some guests went to their hosts to freshen up and drop off their suitcases. We all met back at the clubhouse at 16h00 and we hosted our guests in true Walvis Bay 36 fashion. Joppie and Mono braai’ed for us that evening.

Tuesday, there were 2 activities for the morning. Some gents, and a few Tablers, went fishing. Just before they went fishing, they went REDACTED REDACTED REDACTED REDACTED in Swakop. The other guests went out on the Kayaks and had a blast. At around 13h00 the Kayak group went to the “Half way House”. (All guests would be dropped off after their activities at the half way house, which is Richard and Dina’s house). Dina went all chef mode and pulled out all the stops at the half way house. The “fishermen” went to dune 7 at around 17h00 and the 4 guests then tested their fitness. At 19h00 we all met at Brugels for pizza and wine. The atmosphere was great, and our guests had a ball.

63

Wednesday, a few guests went fat biking, and a few went out on the catamaran. After the activities they were dropped off at the half way house. For some guests, they had down time in the afternoon, other guests were entertained by their hosts. The evening, potjie was brewing. Joppie, Mono and Dina were responsible for catering. After the meal, the party started. The music went louder and louder and louder. There was a conga line, there was a rave, there was lang arm, and there was a mosh pit. It was a late night. We also inducted 2x buffalo members.

Thursday, last day of the pretour. By 08h30 the guests went on a quadbike adventure, while Daniel decided to come to Namibia to play golf. The guests loved every minute of their activities that day. Unfortunately, there was an accident where 1 guest fell off her quad. She was a little sore and a little shaken but survived the ordeal. The guests were dropped off at the half-way house for the last meal at Dina’s.

The afternoon consisted of downtime, home host entertainment, dune drives, or swakop tours. Roche had a few guests and 41ers over for a home host party. The other guests were entertained on sunset dune, where they had fresh oysters. We then proceeded to the clubhouse for burgers and an early night. Our last 3 guests had also arrived earlier that day and were hosted by Cobus.

Friday, official start of the numbers meeting and our projects day. Everyone met at the clubhouse at 10h00. We had a small quick briefing and then took them to Alexanders School for a Kidz Vision Test. We tested the eyes of Year 3 kids till Year 11. The principle then gave our guests a quick tour of the school.

64

Then it was back to the clubhouse for a quick regroup. From the clubhouse we proceeded to Toya’s soup kitchen in Naraville for a brief breakdown of what they do. Then we took our guests to Twaloloka to feed a few hundred kids. Afterwards, everyone had downtime or was entertained by their hosts. We all met at Anchors at 19h00. We welcomed our last 3 guests and proceeded to have platters and lots of beer/wine. Then there was an afterparty next door. Then there was an after afterparty somewhere the other side of the railway.

Saturday, it’s meeting time. We all met between 08h00 and 09h00 for a light breakfast at the clubhouse. Meeting then started almost on time. Table Representatives present were from Assen 36, Bonn 36, Linkoping 36, and Tampere 36. We had our mayor as the guest speaker. Ladies departed on their ladies’ tour to Swakopmund and to Goanikontes. Linkoping 36 is hosting the next meeting, so they presented the meeting with a video. We also decided on the next numbers meeting should be in Bonn in 2024. Thankfully, the sergeant kept us all from prolonging the meeting, so we finished at 36 past. Jens braai’ed and catered for us all. We then proceeded to Goanikontes to party further. At 19h00 we all met at the beer garden to have a little fun in the form of a table shirt party with each table performing an act. Party went on till late with Cobus leading the pack at the boma.

AREA MEETING REPORT

It was on a hot Friday evening, the 7th of October to be exact, where we left in a hurry to get away from our jobs and weekend vibes. We departed from Walvis Bay around 1-ish, if Leigh could read the time properly, it was a journey like none other with little to no stops for a smoke break.

After a long journey through traffic and road rage we kept ourselves busy with things you should not google and I can truly say that you should really not google “google”. We finally arrived at our destination of Stolzenfeld “in a German accent”. When we eventually figured out the code to the lock, we celebrated with a cold one for the last stretch to the camping site.

After 5 turns and 7 gates we came to the conclusion that we are lost, but we saw a light in the distance and our hope alongside another cold one was restored. The sight of the camping ground was magnificently placed for the eye to behold except for us that got lost on the way there, but a welcoming atmosphere hit us as soon as we docked at the port of the centre camp sight. The biggest challenge of all was to finish greeting every soul present at this meeting except Swakopmund Round Table 145 that was yet to pitch “cough” nothing new “cough”.

Finally finishing that challenge, we decided to go on a scavenger hunt on the search for our tents.

As the first night kicked off everyone got together at the central camp site to socialise and get to know each other better while making new friends. Our newly born friendships were celebrated with a “lekker” vodka and exotic juice concoction made by Major Leigh and soon there after Swakopmund decided to grace us with their presence and lovely sound system with a build in mic.

As the night grew old, Leigh and I welcomed ourselves to the lovely sound system Swakopmund bestowed upon us and presented them with some acrobatics into the swimming pool with announcements made by the one and only Major Leigh. After a while of dipping, jumping and diving into the cold water we dedicated ourselves to a well deserved nights rest even though it was 3 in the morning.

66

We all got dressed in our finest suits for our meeting starting at 9 o’clock, some wearing flip flops and other swimming trunks including myself in a blinding white extremely sexy “butler ish” suit.

As we approached our well put up meeting courters, our lovely Area Chairman, Mr Byron Westerdale, announced that it will be a “dry” meeting that disappointed everyone including people that weren’t even present. Walvis Bay 36 kicked off the meeting with their presentation of the next area meeting in 2023 at Windpomp 14 wearing the best swimming gear and floaties PEP could supply. Thereafter, the ladies and children left for their well deserved lady’s tour. Starting off the meeting so excitingly for a moment it all was ruined by the sergeant chosen for the day Ernst, with his late planned out punishments yet still making people run for the bathroom.

As the meeting rolled on like the wheels on Byron’s bus, all the tables had a chance to share their reports that was printed in a booklet because we were limited to any usage of power threw out the weekend. Reports was given out in order of: Windhoek 34; Walvis Bay 36; Swakopmund 145; Hochland 154 and Welwitschia 213

All the reports were presented professionally by each table representative because all the chairmen rarely show up but when they do its not at the same meeting. All reports went smoothly except for Joppie who forgot to add one of their guest’s name to the Round Table 36 list…My name, the reporter of this script, if you were guessing. After all the reports were finished and everyone’s mouths were watering because of 2 members that did not follow the “dry” meeting rule, Byron finally allowed us to enjoy a beer in the scorching hot sun around about 1 o’clock in the afternoon whilst we all were wearing proper non cooling suits.

Thereafter we all got ready for the well and properly planned out October fest themed party “in a German accent”, that started at 18:00 that same day. Everyone wore their best German outfit and I wore my best German nose appropriately for the occasion.

The night started fresh and young, where we all enjoyed a few beers and listened to a variety of German music played by our overly enthusiastic DJ, Stephan, who made sure the dance floor, after a few drinks, heard mambo number 5 a few times.

67

Then finally, when everyone was full of spirit and “German accent” beer, the boat races took to the starting line where the four teams Walvis Bay 36, Welwitschia 213, Windhoek 34 and Hochland 154 stood ready and strong. The race took off to a wild start as I, Danie Bachmann, struggled to keep even half my beer down, but there was a winner that cannot be named because I was too busy hugging the toilet.

There after the ladies’ boat races started where we did things a bit differently, instead of downing the beer as tradition some oak decided that the woman must hold their beer glasses, which was full of liquid unknown to me, with a straight arm to see who can hold it there the longest. Each table had a lady representing them. Swakop took for the win but only because it was a Walvis Bay lady, Melissa, standing in for them. “36!”

As these games came to an end, we decided to play a good gentlemen’s game of knobble where you can find the rules on our web page: Walvis Bay Round Table 36. It was a drastic and competitive game where Nikki kept us all on our toes with her wild dice throwing skills that Leigh could never match.

After a while when I was still dying next to the toilet, our second sergeant, who will not be named, took a stand to punish those the previous sergeant couldn’t get too and also those, who are without permission, getting older #birthdaypeeps. His punishments were unusual. It consisted of the normal basic hard liquor shot but he had a twist if he felt like it, he gave a very, very, VERY salty piece of baboon biltong which to no one’s surprise Leigh enjoyed too much.

At the end we decided as Walvis 36 to calm down and do what we do best. We threw all the wood on the fire because we like to “BRAAI”. As the wood ran out, we took an ACC200 to scare off the “babalas” so we can take on tomorrow as a new day and a new journey back home.

To sum it all up my experience at the Area meeting hosted by Hochland 154, was an amazing experience to have by meeting new people and NPCs and also to broaden my vision of Round Table and the good they do for the community and each other.

Walvis Bay Round Table 36 is a family I am happy to be a part of.

Herewith I submit my report for adoption.

MARKET DAY 3

SEPT 2022

The khomasdal community requested a market day in khomasdal to allow for the community to also show case their goods apart from giving them the opportunity to sharpen up their entrepreneurial skills it would also allow for some much needed funds to be generated.

Welwitschia 213 obliged and organised a Market day at our clubhouse on the 3rd of September 2022. The Khomasdal community was able to book their spots and erect their stalls for the Saturday.

Welwitschia 213 ran the bar and broadcasted the SA Rugby Match for the day. The stalls where not a lot 6 in total but we had a lot of fun. We also used the opportunity to promote round table Welwitschia 213 in the community.

Market day started at 07h00 and most stalls where sold out by 14h30 which was a good sign. The day was promoted on Facebook via Xposure photography’s Selfie Machine and all attendees enjoyed it especially the kids. The Market day was not aimed at making money for the club but to create a platform for the Khomasdal community to show case their talents and generate some income.

72
WEL213’S

The day was an overall success with 90% of the stalls sold out for the day. Wel213 enusured the socializing and promoting of Round Table and our club was continued. Our Clubhouse doors closed at 01h00 the next morning with vendors not wanting to leave.

Welwitschia 213 will be hosting more of these events as the demand has become quite high, we are hoping to provide a stable facility to allow for income generation for the Khomasdal Community.

Thanks to the two awesome chef’s 154’s legendary 41érs Eghard and Alwyn the food was on a level. We socialised till the morning hours before heading to bed.

Next morning it was a quick breakfast and packing up before hitting the road back home, or at least for some of us as one only made it from the tent to the car…lol…

We would like to thank Hochland 154 for a great area convened cant wait for AGM…

AREA 2022

October Area hosted by Hochland 154 a camping affair at Stolzenfeld Saloon Campsite and going with the Name the Theme was October Fest 7 9 October 2022.

It was quick drive to the camp site from Windhoek would have been quicker If the lead in the 2-car convoy who has been at the place a few times did drive past the turn off. But it was great fun as we became a 3-car convoy with Mr. Rence from Swakopmund 145 had the same idea.

Welwitschia 213 was well represented with 3 tablers and 1 pipeliner soon to become a member. The tents where erected quickly and the socializing began. With the weather being on and off as it pleases and we where in the middle of a heat wave some people didn’t think of packing a blanket and some warm cloths.

Myself, Romeo , Romano and Devon had a great spot next to the swimming pool and later most of the area convened at our camping spot with Mr. Rence making announcements on the PA system like a Rehoboth School principle calling for ladies under 16 High Jump.. As you can imagine we didn’t fit into the category but that didn’t stop some to show off their backflipping skills in the pool at 01h00 in the morning.

The last man standing was Dirkie and Bertus but I’m sure Dirkie was still trying to warm himself after his Pool jumping…what happens at the pool after 00h00 stays at the pool. We managed to get some shut eye for 2 or so hours and it was time for the Area Meeting. Area Chairman was firm with his rules so was the SGT and Area Chair called for a Dry Meeting as forewarned at the last council meeting.

74 WEL213 @ OCTOBER

Meeting took some time, but it went smoothly with the SGT ensuring no one sleeps during the proceedings especially not the peanut gallery, as his kept his bucket with ice cold water ready. One person fell victim to this, but I must say it worked because he was awake the rest of the meeting.

Wel213, Hochland and WHK34 had new inductees the SGT welcomed them properly. To new blood all the best and may your table journey be legendary. Just remember in Table you get out what you put in and you can only learn if you're willing to.

After some down time, the evening festivities started with most people dressing to the theme and some one looking more like a “Kaapse Klopse” then Octoberfest… Boat races were taken by 154 men’s team and the ladies' races were taken by SWK145.

It has been a very cold winter this 2022 and it could be felt when Winter Knights campaign was launched. Wel213 attended the Winter Conference hosted by Windhoek 34. Wel213 had a poor attendance with only myself and Romeo attending and only attending the Saturday Meeting and not the entire area. This because I had a newborn at home and was fortunate enough to get the Saturday day off…lol…

In true 213 style we didn’t care if we were one or two attending when the club Chairman couldn’t make it myself and Romeo took the drive down to Las Vegas Camping and picked up Previous Area Chairman Loubser Rousseau and his wife Cathy to join us. We arrived and we could see it was not the best attended area, The weather was colder than expected but the Sgt quickly sorted out anyone in need of some warming up. The meeting went well and We were graced by the then Miss Namibia contestant now Miss Namibia Winner Cassy Sharply who presented her plans to assist the Namibian community. Cassy had conveyed her willingness to partner with Round Table Namibia and this was to no degree compiled to her being crowned or not. After a few pictures were taken Cassy we continued with the area meeting.

The Sgt’s for the meeting made sure there was very little waffeling and help those in the meeting to stop complaining about the cold.

Meeting was concluded with some informal discussion afterwards and I got some time in to socialize while Romeo was taught how to play Spyker Block…

It was time to leave and after rounding my former Area Chairman we hit the road back to Windhoek with a quick refreshment dealt at Kudu’s house I made it home just in time for Dyper Duty.

Thanks, WHK34 for a great Area no matter the low attendance. Those who couldn’t make missed out. Till the next one..

PUB QUIZ

We hosted our most successful Pub Quiz yet, on Friday, 26 August 2022.

This year 106 attendees gathered at the Blue Marlin Guest House for a fun filled evening of fundraising to further the aims and objectives of Round Table Richards Bay.

During this evening, attendees’ knowledge of music, South Africa, sports, and Richards Bay were tested in the quiz.

All while allowing them to ‘bribe’ our sergeants for answers and declaring the entire venue a buffalo zone with a fine payable for each buffalo.

Sports memorabilia were also on auction, along with an invisible shirt, a rock, and a 2l bottle of Coca Cola. (Guess which of these sold for the highest bid the 2l Coca Cola!)

This event which is proving to be such a big hit that we have decided to host another Pub Quiz in November 2022!

PHOBANE FISHING BONANZA

Eshowe Round Table hosted their annual fishing completion this past weekend, 5/6 November. William Swift was the big winner as he hooked up a 4.3kg bass, winning him the R20 000 cash prize once again sponsored by Mr Juan Bornman of SCS Plant & Logistics. In the lady's category Daniella Leigh Serrao came out tops with her 1.45kg fish with Tyler Kleinenburg coming up tops in the Junior category with his 2.16kg fish.

On the barbell side Christopher Viljoen was made to work hard for his R10 000 first prize (sponsored by Isibindi and Aquacon) with his monster 13.52kg specimen, with all his line being “spooled” off his reel he somehow managed to regain contact of it and then was forced to “hand line” the monster into the boat. Tracy Lombard was the leading lady at 4.34kg.

With a good balance of first timers to the dam, serious local anglers and many old Eshowe and Zululand social anglers returning to this favourite “old stomping ground” many new friends and memories were made, a fair amount of reminiscing and big stories about yesteryear were discussed in the evenings. Most chose to camp out alongside the dam, Black Hawk security made sure that no security issues were experienced, and Eshowe Pick n Pay were on hand serving food.

3RD ASSCO REPORT

On Friday the 4th of November Sani 152 was privileged to welcome the Round Table Southern Africa (RTSA) council and their families to Sani Pass Hotel for their 3rd ASSCO meeting of the year. The ASSCO is made up of the President of RTSA, his exec council and the chairmen of the 14 areas spread across South Africa and Namibia. A casual opening night braai down at the pool area was the ideal opening and thankfully the weather throughout the weekend played its part. For some reason Mr Jaeger disappeared during the course of the night and the following day we needed to go find him and bring him back.

In the morning the Tablers and their families went to Pevensey Place for breakfast with the residents, this was extra special as Pevensey are currently celebrating their 50th anniversary. Residents & Tablers were blown away by the experience and many left with a tear in their eye. RTSA was instrumental in the establishment of Pevensey Place back in 1972 and to this day are still actively involved. Later that day, in their personal capacity, the ASSCO council donated a substantial amount of money that we will be allocating to a project at Pevensey THANK YOU GENTS. Following breakfast it was back to the clubhouse for the meeting; ladies continued with a visit to Mzuri Farm for some peony picking and then back to the hotel for spa treatments and a horse ride. The council had a most productive meeting and it was then time to see who is “Top Shot” in the group. A slightly challenging clay pigeon range was setup and with a 9/10 score, representing the Bosveld, Antonie Smit took home the bragging rights; happy to report no one missed all their shots!

93

From there it was back to the hotel for sheep on a spit, rugby, and an auction that was very well supported! The party went late into the night and with it came a tremendous amount of fellowship.

A hearty breakfast at the Hotel in the morning and everyone departed for home.

Thank you to everybody who helped to pull off a great weekend.

To Mr Prez, thank you for bringing your team here, Sani is better for the experience and that weekend is something we will remember for a long time.

Special mention must be made of Marthinus, Collin and their team at Premier Resort Sani Pass they went above and beyond and played an important part in making this a weekend to remember.

OCTOBER CONFERENCE

The 30th of November saw the Natal South Coast Area hold their October conference at Westville 189's clubhouse.

A meeting that was filled with productive discussion and much festivities culminated in the exciting travel Bingo draw which would see one lucky Tabler winning himself a trip of a lifetime to Norway! After an exciting draw, the lucky winner turned out to be Tiaan Keet from Sani 152! Congratulations Tiaan! Im sure that you will have a amazing time! Hard luck to Kev Fraser who came in second!

We are excited to report that Kokstad 35 is coming back with a bang and we look forward to what Cois and Meloshan will be able to do with the Table in the coming months!

They have a good few guests attending their meetings as well as a couple of projects in the pipeline which will do wonders for the table going forward.

The next couple of weeks are looking exciting for the NSCA with several large projects on the go as well as big plans for 2023.

Many thanks to Westville 189 for treating us to a great day and to the NSCA executive committee for keeping everything on track!

SPECTACULAR

As you already know, Paarl 44 has a great project running that helps the unprivileged people who can’t afford spectacles to get an eye test, choose a frame from the frames we collect, and get the correct lenses for their eyes.

This project is running very well with over 60 people already when for I test and now another 20 people got their spectacles this past month. The first 40 people were people that we got through other NPO’s in our community.

The next 40 will be elderly people from the elder homes in Paarl and Wellington. We are striving to help everywhere a bit as this project will continue within the next years and we will serve the rest of the community.

Keep an eye out on our Facebook Page to see what this great project are doing in our community.

MEET & GREET PAARL 44

GONGSKIET:

CHARLES WROTH, PIPELINER FOR

LIFE

Since I was young, I had known about the Round Table. Some of my first memories as a child were of being called onto the stage, by my father, Retd. Major of the SAAF, Charles Alfred Wroth and my mother Hanlie Wroth, who were actors in the famous Round Table Kenton/Alexandria 210 “Kenton Capers”, an event hosted every 2 years. My father was wearing a Styrofoam basher, yellow lint and they were dancing along to Eddy Grant’s “I don’t wanna dance today”. He called me up on stage, picked me up and I sat on his shoulders, among the tablers, taking in the moment the previous generations Tablers. As a childhood dream, I wanted to join the military and serve like my father. Options were not available for me in South Africa, so I went over to the United Kingdom and joined the rough and tough 3rd Battallion, The Parachute Regiment to become a Paratrooper. During my 6 years service I deployed twice on Operations in Afghanistan in support of ISAF on Operation Herrick 8 and 13, along with many other soldiers, some of which were of South African origin. The camaraderie, esprit de corps and the brotherhood shared in these tough times were bonds forged like iron. The fellowship continued for a few years where I worked as a contractor in Sierra Leone, Mozambique, the Rovuma Basin and Iraq. After relocating back in South Africa, and putting the contractor's life behind me, I found within me, a certain sense of emptiness. Lack of direction to support my community and a complete lack of brotherhood bond. My now wife, Michele Wroth (Schreuder) and my daughter (Hailey Wroth) would travel to the sunny shores of the Eastern Cape to visit my sister, Maryke Taljaard and my brother in law, Marco Taljaard (Kenton/Alex210) during December. We attended a Kenton Capers and loved it. On a subsequent visit around February 2021, I was invited to a business meeting at Kenton/Alexadria 210, not knowing quite what to expect. The meeting was chaired by Jacques van Wyk (Currently, EC Area PRO) and I enjoyed it. I walked in meeting mostly a group of strangers and left with a handful of friends.

On returning to Milnerton, I got onto google and looked for a local Round Table. This led me to the shut down Milnerton RT, so I searched further afield and found RT 246 Table View, reached out and got invited to attend a meeting by JP Nell (Then RT246 Vice). I became a guest and about 3 4 months later became a pipeliner in April of 2021. I was asked by then Chairman, Judd Burger, why I table, to which I answered that after having served in the military, I had longed for and missed the fellowship of my military brothers, and felt RT was the best place to rekindle that

105

Having some fellowship and getting to know people was tricky with COVID Curfews and me UBER’ing to meetings, but we progressed. I learned a great deal from the club but with my wedding coming up, I did not always have the time to attend, sadly I missed a meeting or 2 that would have possibly been my induction. In January of 2022 I got married to Michele and following our honeymoon I exclaimed that I had had enough of Koeberg Road, Milnerton and we decided to visit the in laws in Darling. Upon arriving I was informed that Anri Van Heerden (Former RT 262 Malmesbury Chairman) was moving to Canada, and he was renting out his house. In the space of 2 weeks the missus and I signed a lease, organized movers and I informed Table View 246, and immediately got details for Yzerfontein 276 to continue on my table journey. It was close between Yzerfontein and Malmesbury, but Yzies seemed closer.

I joined Yzerfontein 276, and scratched back from a Pipeliner to Guest, which was a knock on my clear commitment, but I shouldered on. Attending meetings, raids, projects and socials. RT 276, being a newer Table has many challenges to overcome that well established tables have mastered in their tenure. I know, going to RT276 was the right move, with the right people and a Table where I could make #impactfulchange.

Over the last weekend I was invited to OctoberCon hosted by RT 44 Paarl, my first area conference where I met some giants of the Round Table and many others from near and far.

106

It was a truly special occasion being called up, received my induction Pin from ARTSA President Werner Swanepoel, being supported by both RT276 and RT246 and being read a heartfelt message from my father (Currently working in China), by WP Area Chairman, Timothy Manners Woord, the man that inspired this all, way back, on Kenton Capers. Charles Wroth, Round Table 276, Joe Tabler, 21 Months in the making.

The message sent can inspire others, and I leave you with it. “…Dad joined Alex Kenton 210 in 1991 and your brother in Law joined Alex Kenton in 2013 and today you join. Our table wish ( As our past President Alan Malan would say)

1) What you put in table is what you get out

2) Travel Its where the best memories are made

3) Make this one amazing experience with your beautiful wife. Mum and Dad are so proud, we are so proud and Alex kenton 210 is super proud!”

Finally, some of you, guests or pipeliners might be feeling what I felt on many occasions where I felt like throwing in the towel. Stick it out, it is all worth it in the end.

Look forward to seeing you all at the next meeting, raid or social.

YIT Charles Hein Wroth, RT276, Acting Secretary
