Donation fuels dreams €6,800 raised for future Olympians
A RECENT fundraising effort has changed the lives of many young athletes in the Marina Alta region. Thanks to a total of €6,800 raised, €3,000 of which was donated by the Teulada Moraira Lions, the local rhythmic gymnastics club has been able to upgrade key training equipment. They are the only sports club offering rhythm gymnastics between Gandia and Alicante, which means for children and young people with Olympic dreams, this non-profit is their best shot at success. In fact, some of the clubs’ young people will compete at the top level, Via Olimpica, in the Spanish Nationals in 2025. The club will also host the Autonomico this year in Javea. The Lions were invited by the sports club to a training session to see the new equip-
ment. The foam pit is an area that gymnasts can fall into safely. It had been 10 years since the pit was installed, and it required an upgrade. The event showcased why the new equipment was so important, both for safety and to enhance the experience of those training at the centre. According to the club, the donation has ‘totally changed their training regime’ for the better. The Club and Teulada Moraira Lions are looking forward to the centre and its young athletes flourishing even further in the future and “to seeing Spain’s future Olympians emerge from this talented and hard-working Javea squad.” They are asking for any other local businesses that want to offer sponsorships to reach out.
