NEW CHANGES

With new officers, new club adult advisor, new members, and a new year, our Edmond North Key Club is planning to implement new changes to our Club. My name is Katherine Lee and I am the Secretary of Edmond North Key Club. This year, our ENHS Key Club has outstanding and competent officers, and we are planning to make this new year highly organized and be part of top 25 clubs in the Texas-Oklahoma district! First of all, one of our changes is that our club will be reporting every month, which is different from the past year. Last year, we have not reported the whole year, and we could not be part of the top 25 clubs in the district. However, this year, we decided to be different. All of the members in our officer team are so passionate to bring our Edmond North Key Club up to the top Key Clubs in Texas and Oklahoma. A club can earn its points mostly through reporting every month, in addition to submitting monthly articles. Reporting is generally the club Secretary’s job, which is me, and I plan to submit our club’s outstanding reports every month along with the monthly task of the month. Continuing on, our other change is that we will be organizing our monthly socials and try our best to attempt to have it every month. We have our social chair who will be planning out our monthly socials and organize the monthly socials’ themes. We believe that socials are one of the most important parts of Key Club because through socials, we can always attract new members and also encourage our members to keep up

their good work volunteering in the community. Lastly, our last change is to have a closer relationship with the Kiwanis community. The Kiwanis is the parent organization of Key Club International. Key stands for Kiwanis Educating Youth. Key Club is supported greatly from the Kiwanis family. So, to give them thanks and to keep our ENHS Key Club bond closer with them, we plan to attend many of the Kiwanis meetings and participate in different K-family activities. Edmond North Key Club has been awesome and outstanding in the past years. However, this year, our officer team aspire to make it better. We want to be in the top 25 clubs in the district, and we also want to achieve the outstanding club award at DCON.

How can you stay involved in Key Club all year long? Key Club has always been my favorite club throughout high school because of all the opportunities that it offers. Frequently, I see people joining clubs in high school and not doing anything with the club other than placing it on their resume to increase their involvement in high school. Although it is important to build your resume by joining clubs in high school, it is also important to actually be a part of them and be active in the club or organization.Key Club offers many volunteer opportunities monthly in the monthly agenda that is distributed at each monthly meeting with all club members. These volunteer opportunities range in activities and members are bound to find some that interest and intrigue them to attend and be a part of. Also, Key Club has a requirement of 20 service hours to be served by each member by a specified date at the end of the year. This helps members stay involved in the club because that way they are expected to have evidence of the hours they served by signatures from people at volunteer places to remain in good standing.

`Key Club also has events like ice-cream socials that allow members to get together to socialize and get to know fellow Key Club members from their school that they may not have known before. Key Club also offers an opportunity to members to be an officer which opens a whole new door of opportunities to get involved not only in your school but also district wide with Key Club. There are several events that officers get to have the opportunity to attend. One example is D-Con. Although I have not been yet because my schedule hasn’t worked with the dates for it, I have heard amazing things about D-Con. Many say that you learn so much about the club that you had absolutely no idea about before. Therefore, there are so many ways to get involved in Key Club other than just joining the club. Do more than the minimum and build relationships with people through the opportunities that Key Club offers!

DIVISIONAL

project

Youth Homelessness is Division 40's focus for the year. By volunteering at local food banks, raising funds, and taking donations for the basic necessities every human needs, we will be one step closer as a division to putting an end to youth homelessness.

PERCEPTIONS Rachael Kingrey, Social Chair

One of my very favorite things about being involved in Key Club as an officer is that I get an inside perspective about what goes on to make Key Club happen. On the outside it might look pretty straightforward, but there is actually a lot that goes on and a lot of people that work to make Edmond North Key Club run. Several of them aren't even affiliated with Edmond North because Key Club is an international organization, so we work with Key Clubs in our district and Kiwanis personnel. As part of the officer team, I get to be one of those people and know about some of the changes we plan to implement this year. One thing I'm really excited about is the amount of volunteer opportunities we will have this year. All the organizations we have worked with in the past will still be working with Key Club, but we also have new ideas and organizations that are new to Edmond North Key Club. We will also have more collaboration projects and opportunities with other Key Clubs in the Edmond area. Reaching out to different clubs and using their ideas will increase the scope of opportunities that our members have, which is really great.Another thing that we are emphasizing this year is socials. I am the social chair, which means I plan the nonvolunteer events for Key Club members. In the past, our socials have been pretty infrequent, but this year I want to make them bigger and better than we have ever had them. We plan to partner with Kiwanis to make the socials happen and I want to ask our club members for ideas of what they want to do. We will keep the socials that we've done and that have been successful, but I also want to bring in some new ideas that have not been done at Edmond North before.Overall, I am really excited about what Key Club is going to be this year. We have an amazing officer team, an amazing teacher sponsor, and fantastic members that are excited to volunteer and get involved. I can't wait to get this year started and see what our club can accomplish this year!

a quick rundown Sana Arshad, Sophomore Director

It’s officially the second best time of the year. Sorry to the spooky fans, not to be cliche or anything, but I have to give first place to winter. September marks the month in which we had our first Key Club meeting. It was a great turnout! Thank you to everyone who showed. The officers also had our regional training conference this month. It was so informative. We met tons of new officers! From Starbucks trips, to Rock Paper Scissors, to perfect matches, that RTC was amazing! In this months article I want to give a rundown on what your fellow officers have been working on. We all have gotten assigned our organizations and started contacting them to find great volunteer opportunities for everyone! I have personally been assigned to work with Top Soccer and BALTO with your Vice President, Elden Bruner. We are all so excited to start getting those hours in for this year! Key Club officers are throwing many new ideas and if any of our members have ideas we would love to hear you out! Speaking of hearing what you have to say, you can contact our editor, Steven Fu to be featured in the monthly newsletters! Yes, you can write your own article about Key Club and have a feature in future newsletters! Moving on, elementary school volunteering has officially started, Northern Hills Elementary has passed but do not fret we have plenty more to come. Our president, Amal Jamshed is currently putting together an agenda for October. We are so excited to see our members at the monthly October meeting! Also here are a couple of reminders, Fall Rally is coming up (October 26th)! It is thirty dollars to go and that includes admission plus a t-shirt. So gather your friends and come learn more about Key Club and stay for fright fest! You get 3 points for every hour! Club dues are also due at the end of this month. It is also thirty dollars (separate from fall rally) and it includes your t-shirt fees. You can get applications and point cards in Mrs. Pastors room (upper east hall right past the art hall). Pay dues at the finance office! Also remember to get those point cards signed at the events you are at. Officers can sign point cards so if you forget you can always ask at meetings. Here’s to a new month with new opportunities for all out members and officers! Cannot wait until the next meeting with you all!

social media Sweta Chataut, Historian 12

Social Media is essential to the function of our Key Club and is what we use to communicate with our members directly. Our Club can smoothly organize and inform members about ongoing or upcoming events thought the help of social media. Social Media has created a way for us to continually update and share content with our members with little effort. The social media our Key Club primarily uses is Remind. Remind is the primary way we interact with our members. We use Remind to keep members updated on volunteering events happening throughout our community. We also use it to inform students about important deadlines and dates like to tell our members about our monthly meetings.Remind is excellent because it allows us to communicate with all our members at once helps to stay connected with our school community. With the help of Remind, we help our members be more involved in our community. Overall Remind allows us to communicate with our members directly. Another form of social media that helps us communicate with our members is Instagram. Instagram lets us inform our members quickly. Many students at Edmond North are primarily on Instagram so we can reach a large number of our students. We use Instagram to let our members know about any upcoming events or our monthly meetings. Our Instagram is to give our members more information that they need. Instagram also helps us communicate and interact with other Key Clubs around our community and the world. It lets us show how our club functions to others. We often use Instagram stories to give quick reminds to our members. Through Instagram, they can directly ask us questions about events or meetings to know what they need to do. Instagram helps us show what we as a club, focus on. We can also expand our reach with Instagram. We directly engage with our members more through Instagram. It also makes us more visible as a club to our students and helps us create an identity for our Club. With the help of both Remind and Instagram, our Key Club as a whole is very efficient in informing members. Social media networks allow us the opportunity to share the events we participate in with a far wider audience. Without the help of both these forms of social media, we could not efficiently inform our members about important events and deadlines.
