BUILDING FABRIC. ROOF/ CEILING The exterior of the building materialised of stone brickwork rendered with plaster to give a smooth appearance, and there is a brick chimney projecting from the roof, which is made of stone slate slabs hiding the timber wood frame structure of the gabled roof. The roof structure consisting of a traditional king post roof truss is lacking the middle truss which gives evidence that the building doesnt have the most stability and was made with the most minimal materials. The roof and ceiling is mostly made of wood and timber beams whereby wood was usually in abundance and could be locally sourced, this is why wood was a large material used in Victorian houses, especially Pine on interior floorboards, for the staircase and for the wood plank doors (Bedri, 2021).
