DEVELOPMENT OF IDEAS PRECEDENT #1 Allyu Spa

Allyu Spa is a meditative building covering 5,900 square feet which features ten massage rooms, a meditation room, manicure and pedicure rooms, office spaces, retail area and a lobby. It is made up of Mesquite and cork flooring, reclaimed barn doors, clay-finished walls, showers with a Moroccan plaster finish and Tectum panel ceilings which provide a unique atmosphere.

Rooms feature subtle colours and a very minimal colour palette, with comfortable seating areas to relax the user. It also has candles and comfort areas in an enclosed space so that the user feels safe. This type of atmosphere of a relaxation room that has a sauna like feel is inspiring for creating a meditative space within the container.

DEVELOPMENT OF IDEAS EXPERIMENTING WITH MEDITATIVE BOOTH SHAPES

PRECEDENT #2 Sketch London

Sketch is a three storey Georgian townhouse which is a lot different to its surroundings. It is fuelled by art infused in the walls, floors, bathrooms, and in the food.

The toilets feature scattered pods which resemble large alien eggs. Under a multicoloured ceiling, once you’re inside the capsule you hear strange music and audio.

This precedent is particularly inspiring because of their take on the large scattered pods. The idea of using smaller pods shaped like Tangle Teezer’s for which users can enter and have a meditative experience would make a really goo edition to the container project.

PRECEDENT #3 Style Club Hair Salon

BACK WALL DESIGN

This hair salon was particularly inspiring because of the funky colours and patterns which are also noticeable on Tangle Teezers detanglers.

In order to keep similarities with the tangle teezer brand in with the container design, Incorporating this 80s bold colours and patterns would be a good addition.

The Style Club, located in Tallaght Square in Dublin is a bright new hair salon. Its concept was a minimalist take on the bold colours and patterns of the 80s. All panels, joinery and graphics are bespoke, giving it the unique design. Nothing was to match too perfectly or fade into the background with Bold colours, and wacky shapes.

PRECEDENT #2 FROYO YOGURTERIA

Froyo Yogurteria is a sells frozen yoghurt, while emphasising a clean and freshness. Abstract, double curvature surfaces form the ceiling and the counter for the yogurt toppings, and a minimal colour palette has been used. The store is very simple, with seating area either side of the entrance, following through to the frozen yoghurt station at the back.

The main inspirations from this precedent come mainly from the concept of the froyo station allowing users to customise their own toppings to their frozen yoghurt, and the layout of the store. This plan and their intentions to have a “create your own” yoghurt is particularly inspiring for the doughnut making container.
