The President’s Page President Mohan 2013-14 Dear fellow Rotarians. The new Rotary Year has just begun and it will be my honor to be your servant leader. Before the year even started, I had the opportunity to work with a very strong, dedicated and competent committee headed by CK Lim to organise the 30th Installation dinner at the Tanglin Club on 28th June 2013. I would like to thank the committee, our members, their spouses, children, friends and visiting Rotarians from near and far who came in throngs to make the event a memorable and astounding success.

Not forgetting the sponsors, advertisers and donors, whose generosity was heartwarming.

That continues to show the Pandan Valley spirit. I am pleased to inform you that we raised net after expenses a sum of $26,514 which will be used for general funds and community service projects. I would like to apologise to our members and their family and friends if there were any shortcomings during the installation dinner.

We just concluded our first board meeting on 4th July and various projects locally and internationally were identified and in principle approval as been given to the Service Directors to explore the following projects. a) Community service – Continue to sponsor food supplements to Red Cross Home for the disabled in the region of $7,000, work with ITE East to raise funds for helping out the needy, Redhill Close food distribution to the old folks just before Chinese New Year. b) International Service – Water project in Sarawak (matching grant), Visit to Myanmar School with RC Chiang Rai north. c) Vocational Service – Be the host club for the District Vocational Seminar for Singapore clubs, Public talk on Presbyopia and visit to OCBC Campus.

The service Directors will keep you posted on the progress.

This is the first newsletter and I will be expanding further in the coming issues. The aim of this newsletter is to engage with all the members in a personal way. More information about our club, District and RI activities and resources will be shared with all of you. It will be most welcome if there is anything you would like to contribute to this newsletter and suggestion to improve will be much appreciated.

I would like to appeal to all our members to join me in the journey to make our club even better, enjoy the fellowship and be of service to the community.
