JAMES BROWN 1933 - 2006
James Brown born in Snelling, South Carolina and publically known as the Godfather of Soul, provided inspiration for many through his musical influences.
Brown grew up working in the cotton fields, collecting lumps of coal, and shining shoes to help buy food for the family.
He established a self determination after dropping out of school to educate himself in music by building on the gospel roots from which he discovered in church. By the age of fifteen, Brown had formed his own band, the Cremora Trio. With this group, Brown began to establish a distinctive style. Brown, later, joined gospel singer Bobby Byrd and formed The Famous Flames.
The Flames were quick to advance to international acclaim. They brought rhythm and blues to life by playing anywhere they could. James used his music to break the boundaries of racial segregation that enveloped the United States in the 1950’s. Both blacks and whites became engrossed in the new musical phenomenon. In 1956, the Flames performed “Please, Please, Please” in front of a record company representative that led them to a recording contract and a song that surged to #6 on the R&B

went on to record 75 R&B Top 20 Hits (17 of which reached #1) and sold over 60 million records penning hits like “Papa’s got a brand new bag,” “I Feel Good,” “Don’t be a Dropout,” “Say it Loud, I’m Black and Proud,” and “Living in America.” His style came to symbolize a precursor for all who

The real answer to race problems in this country is education. Not burning and killing. Be ready. Be qualified. Own something. Be somebody. That’s Black Power.”

Nobody likes a nigger. A black man has pride. He wants to build, he wants to make his race mean something. Wants to have a culture and art forms. And he’s not prejudiced. I am a black American man. On Saturday a group of elected officials and leaders from across North Texas gathered at Paul Quinn College in an effort to address challenges facing the Black community through changes in policy and legislation.
Over 300 people attended the 6th Annual African American Leadership Institute Fall Summit to discuss ways to positively impact communities in the areas of healthcare, economic development, education, criminal justice and civic engagement. The keynote session featured former Dallas Police Chief and current Chicago Superintendent David Brown, current Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia, as well as Chief Al Jones of Arlington and Chief Neil Noakes, Fort Worth.
We’ve all heard the Kanye West lyric “If you ain’t no punk, holla we want prenup!” But what was he talking about and why was it important to the song? Prenuptial (also known as premarital) agreements are contracts that are entered into by future spouses before they are wed. The reasons a couple may enter into a prenup vary, but they are usually used to define how property will be divided in the event of a divorce.
Texas is one of nine community property states. This means that anything earned, bought, or comingled during a marriage is the community property of that marriage. Community property in Texas is usually split between the soon to be ex-spouses in a manner that is considered to be just and right. This usually takes the form of a half and half split. There are exceptions to these rules, but I will discuss those in a future article.
stating that in the event of a divorce, your portfolio and any growth it gains during the marriage shall be considered your separate property.
Many people don’t like the idea of a prenuptial agreement as they believe it is planning for a failed marriage or only done for selfish reasons, but that is not the case. Nobody plans on getting in a car wreck, but it’s important to have car insurance if it happens. Furthermore, you can protect your spouse in a prenup just as easily as you can protect yourself.
Just like assets and income, debt accumulated during the marriage is also considered community property. With a prenup, you may also include provisions to shield your spouse from any debts you may accumulate through the Additionally, marriage.youcan simply include provisions as to how you want certain things done in your marriage. Of course, whether some provisions will be enforceable by the court is another question entirely.
While you may insert a clause that states how many children you will have and how they will be educated, you aren’t likely to get away with a clause that says you will have all boys by a certain date or the marriage is void.
Quote from State Senator Royce "TheWest:Summit and all of its activities were very impactful and we made real progress on the issues of criminal justice and economic development. We're leaving this summit with a goal
A prenup can prevent its listed assets from being divided and split with your ex-spouse. For example, say you have a $5 million stock portfolio, you would obviously prefer that it and its growth during the marriage stay 100% your property after a divorce. What you would need to do is disclose this asset to your would-be spouse and insert a clause in the prenup

The tower is generously funded with a $2 million gift from Amanda and G. Brint Ryan, the latter of who is a former chairman of the University of North Texas System Board of Regents.

donor wall, masonry seat walls and a lighted pedestrian plaza. It can be seen from miles away, making the university a prominent symbol of the community it serves.
"I believe education is the most powerful catalyst for change that there is. It lifts people out of poverty and gives them the opportunity to enjoy the full freedom that is the promise behind the American Dream," said G. Brint Ryan. “Amanda and I have shared our success here because we believe so much in the mission of UNT Dallas."
Ryan Tower is a tremendous source of pride for the students, administrators, faculty, staff, and the community. UNT Dallas President Bob Mong said, “Every time I see the tower, I am inspired. Without exception. For me, it symbolizes the heights our students and our future students will attain. I am grateful to the Ryan family for believing in UNT Dallas and its students, faculty and staff.”
In addition to the Trailblazer pride, students feel empowered by the tower. According to Jessica Armstead, former Student Regent of the UNT System Board of Regents and current UNT Dallas Student Government Association President, “Walking on campus and seeing Ryan Tower shows that UNT Dallas is growing and that the community is standing behind us on our way forward into the future. The light that shines from it makes students feel empowered to become a beacon, not only in their lives but in their homes and communities. Our future is bright, and that symbolism has been brought to campus through the generous donation and beautiful new

of Russia and Ministry of Finance have reportedly agreed. The Bank of Russia and the country’s Ministry of Finance have reconsidered their positions toward cryptocurrency, acknowledging it to be necessary to legalize the use of cryptocurrencies in crossborder settlements, per a report by local news outlet TASS. According to TASS, the two government bodies have agreed that “it is impossible” to continue without enabling cryptocurrency as a legal payment method for international trade….The move comes as Russia dabbles on how to best regulate the Bitcoin and cryptocurrency markets. Swamped in Western sanctions, the world’s largest country has sought alternatives to the U.S. dollar so as to guarantee the efficient trade of its “Whencommodities…itcomes to our ‘friendly’ countries, like China or Turkey, which don’t pressure us, then we have been offering them for a while to switch payments to national currencies, like rubles and yuan,” Zavalny said at the time. “With Turkey, it can be lira and rubles. So there can be a variety of currencies, and that’s a standard practice. If they want bitcoin, we will trade in bitcoin.”…
Remember in May I said this was coming down. While XRP is in court against the SEC it has not stopped their growth outside of the USA. Remember I keep saying their will be two systems the centralized controlled system and the decentralized system. In addition, XRP can settle a whole interntional transaction within 3 seconds using different currencies
while using the USA’s old SWIFT system can take 3 days to two weeks because everything is settled in US dollars. Now one can see why the USA is against Russia its all about money and control. One other crypto to look out for in this market is Algorand.

With No Tax Increase on Dallasites
Dallas. Texas- Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson, former U.S Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson, State Senator Royce West, State Representative Victoria Neave Criado and former Dallas Mayor Tom Leppert will headline the VOTE YES FOR PROP A campaign kick-off at a press conference on Thursday, Sept. 15, at the CANVAS Hotel, 1325 Botham Jean Blvd., Dallas, TX 75215 at 10 a.m.
Dallas residents have a oncein-a-generation opportunity to revitalize Fair Park and expand the Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center Dallas (KBHCCD), two of Dallas’ biggest attractions for travel and tourism, when they cast their ballots November 8 for the $1.5 billion initiative. The ballot measure known as Proposition A asks citizens to vote FOR a “tourist tax”- a 2% increase in the hotel occupancy tax which is paid by visitors who stay overnight in Dallas hotels and motels. Dallas residents would reap the benefits of modernizing these venues but would pay no increase in property or sales Iftaxes.approved, this opportunity will create 50,000+ jobs, bring Fair Park into the 21st century with $300 million worth of renovations and repairs and double the capacity and expected revenue of the KBHCCD with a 1.2 billion investment in
the expansion. The extensive improvements are projected to drive billions of dollars into the local economy, strengthen neighborhoods surrounding Fair Park and Downtown, and better connect the Central Business District to southern Dallas. The tourist tax mechanism was formerly used to fund construction of the American Airlines Center and allowed the City of Dallas to completely pay off debt 15 years earlier than Theexpected.lastday to register to vote in the November election is Tuesday, October 11. "Dallas is the cultural and economic engine that drives the fourth largest and fastest growing metro area in the United States," Mayor Johnson said.
There's still a lot of questions, like: Where would you build another stadium within city limits? Where could you offer parking? Or even, where would you accommodate more people?
That's what members of the mayor's committee have been tasked to do.

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) -
After months of talking about Dallas becoming home to a second NFL franchise, Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson hosted the first committee meeting to turn talk into a hopeful reality.
The question is, does North Texas have what it takes to become home to a second NFL team? Mayor Johnson thinks so.
"I do believe that we have a big enough market to support two NFL teams better than both New York and Los Angeles, where
made it clear his committee was not formed to create competition for the Dallas Cowboys. He believes it's time for Dallas to play a bigger role in North Texas's sports landscape.
"The city of Arlington, the city of Frisco, the city of Grand Prairie and the city of McKinney have been cornering the market on the sports business slowly but steadily over many years," Mayor Johnson said. "The city of Dallas frankly hasn't kept up even though the franchises in this area often claim our city in their branding. We're here today because we believe that needs to change."

Murder Trial: Jury deliberating case in shooting death of former NBA player
By Shaun Rabb
Hardy, who the judge had to admonish for his language at times and who has his own criminal record, testified that he didn't know what the people in the cars were up to, and went to get his guns, then he saw his nephew sitting on the curb.
Prosecutors tried to put Jenkins in the Chrysler 300.
[LAWYER: "So he wasn't near the Chrysler 300?"]
"No," Hardy answered.
[LAWYER: “And it can’t tell us the number of people in the “Correct,”vehicle?”
Cheney said.
Though what GPS tracking alone could not do, cell phone mapping could do, as it placed Jenkins’ cell phone in the same space with the Chrysler 300.
DALLAS - The prosecution wrapped up its case against murder suspect Larry Jenkins in court on Thursday, and the jury is now deliberating the case.
Jenkins is one of three people accused of killing former NBA player and Texas Tech star Andre Emmett outside of his Old East Dallas home in 2019. The other two defendants will go on trial later this year.
Jenkins’ uncle, Jamel Hardy, was called to the stand Thursday, though he was unhappy about being under subpoena to testify.
"The only reason why I’m here is that y'all had me come up here on another charge and you subpoenaed me to court and I told you over the phone before I came there that I don’t have nothing to do with nothing," Hardy
Prosecutorssaid.
pressed him about a group of cars that showed up outside his mother’s Dallas apartment back on September 22, 2019.
"It was a white Chrysler, it was a brown car behind it, it was a black car behind it," Hardy said.
The Chrysler is critical to the case, as surveillance video captured a Chrysler 300 and eyewitnesses saw a Chrysler 300 after the shooting.
The white Chrysler 300 was purchased just weeks before by a co-defendant’s girlfriend had a tracking device put on it.
“We provide GPS tracking services primarily to help people get their cars back if they’re stolen,” William Cheney, with Procon Analytics,
Itexplained.wastracked

“2:19Avenue.a.m.,
the vehicle is at zero. It’s stopped and we see that the vehicle is now at an address range of 1801 to 1915 North Prairie Avenue,” prosecutor Summer Elmazi said.
The defense tried to downplay the [LAWYER:GPS.
“Mr. Cheney, the device can tell us a lot, but it can’t tell us who was driving the vehicle, correct?”]
“That’s correct,” Cheney responded.
Mapping the phone and its use from Uptown, where Emmett had been clubbing, to across the street from the Whataburger where Emmett got food.
Ultimately, leaving the area where Emmett lived and was “Andkilled.it
shows the automobile moving south from the location of the crime,” said Greg Gambrell, who has worked for the Dallas County DA’s Office, in the digital muti-media evidence division.
The prosecution rested its case Thursday, then closing arguments took place.
The jury is now deliberating the case against Jenkins.
On Wednesday, the prosecution called two career criminals to the stand.
Dominique McNeely testified that Jenkins told him he robbed and killed Emmett in September Arkeen2019.
Jones, who is out on bond on unrelated charges of engaging organized criminal activity, also claimed Jenkins told him he murdered Emmett.
If convicted, Jenkins would receive an automatic life sentence.

VOTE YES FOR PROP A
Prop A is a unique opportunity to renovate and revitalize two of Dallas’ biggest attractions for travel and tourism- Fair Park and the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center Dallas (KBHCCD). Prop A would add a dedicated “tourist tax” to fund $1.5 billion in improvements and extensive renovations. Dallas residents would reap the benefits of modernizing these venues but would pay no increase in property or sales taxes. This opportunity will create 50,000+ jobs, bring our beloved Fair Park into the 21st century with $300 million worth of renovations and repairs, double the capacity and expected revenue of the KBHCCD with a $1.2 billion investment in the expansion, and ensure that we draw the very best A-list performers, events and conventions to these reimagined and improved venues.
All of this and more is possible with your YES vote. The vote that costs us nothing can change everything.

children are at greatest risk on school days before and after school (7-9 a.m. and 3-4 p.m.) and after dinner time (6-7 p.m.).
Our data also shows that there are many ways that a child or an adult can help thwart an attempted abduction, including ignoring or refusing them, using their cell phones to threaten intervention, fighting, and screaming/making noise.
Shrimp Saganaki is an absolute favorite in its native Greece, and you can taste the reason why! It's similar to shakshuka as it's a bright yet mellow tomato sauce infused with red pepper spice and fragrant shallots and garlic. The shrimp is savory and sweet, cooked to a juicy pink and sprinkled with sharp, creamy feta cheese. Shrimp Saganaki can be a meal on its own, or it could be a tantalizing appetizer for a seafood dinner. In either case, you may want some crusty bread on hand to mop up all of that amazing
