Fort Worth principal faces possible disciplinary action after 'Dress Like a Student Day' angered parents
By Dionne AnglinFORT WORTH, Texas - The fallout continues over a recent 'Spirit Day' where teachers dressed like students at O.D. Wyatt High School in Fort Worth.
The school's principal is facing possible disciplinary action.
The school district will not confirm the information, however parents and others close to the campus tell FOX 4 principal Howard Robinson was abruptly removed from campus.
“Mr. Robinson is literally at the mercy of the board, and we’re hoping the board makes the right decision and brings him back on campus,” said Steven Johnson, a former O.D. Wyatt principal.

Johnson says the district’s reaction to the matter should take into consideration Robinson’s entire body of work, including the school’s academic improvements.
“He loves the kids. He’s out at every activity there is. He spends more time with the kids probably than he does his own family. These are the type of people you look for to lead your campuses,” Johnson said of Robinson.
Earlier this month, the district confirmed it was investigation a school employee’s Facebook post recounting the day in question. The post included photos FOX 4 has chosen not to show, with educators imitating students’ style. Many dressed in pajamas, hair bonnets with blankets and one even wore an ankle monitor.
The employee described it as being a “high school in the ghetto.”
It is unclear if any of those employees were disciplined.
The post frustrated some who commented that it creates a stigmatized perception of struggling neighborhoods.
remained connected to the campus for decades. He feels the recent ‘Spirit Day’ should be a learning experience and not repeated, but not a dagger to Robinson’s career.
“Everyone should have accountability, I’m not saying accountability should be negated in any way, but this one thing is not that bad that these steps should’ve been taken,” said Miles.
Miles and Johnson say they will be among an expected crowd at tonight’s school board meeting to make public comment.
“If you look at the total body of work that is being promoted at Oscar Dean Wyatt High School, Mr. Robinson has definitely done more than enough to represent Wyatt in a positive way,” said Johnson.

FOX 4 inquired with the school district about the status of Howard Robinson. The district responded saying that it does not comment on personnel matters.
Zarin Gracey leads going into the runoff
When asked what Zarin’s priorities are for District 3 he stated, “Economic Development, Public Safety, Local & Small Businesses, and Quality of Life. I want to fight to bring infrastructure investment and economic growth, create livable wage paying jobs, and increase our tax base. I believe we should increase funding for law enforcement and first responders, substance abuse programs, and the reduction of gun and gang violence. We must support the growth and development of small businesses and provide tax incentives for new jobs in our community. And finally, we must protect and enhance green spaces, public parks, arts and cultural events, and ensure access to affordable housing. Together, we can accomplish all of these things on behalf of all resident’s and communities of District 3.”
Zarin is endorsed by outgoing District 3 Councilmember Casey Thomas, former District 3 Councilmember Vonciel Jones Hill and Senator Royce West.
Early Voting for the runoff will begin on Tuesday, May 30th and runs through June 6th. Election Day will be Saturday, June 10th.
Contempt: Where You Don’t Want to Be
By Miles D. Petersonof a court order occurs when a party violates or directly disobeys an order of the court. In the field of family law these violations are usually failure to pay child support and/or withholding visitation. To get an order for contempt granted you must, like everything else, prove that certain elements were met. These elements are that the other party had knowledge of the order, had the ability to comply with the order, and that despite having the ability to comply they didn’t.
I always tell my clients that want to seek an enforcement with the request for contempt to make sure they have kept a record of the other parties violations. Because if you want the other party to be found in contempt you will need to be specific when showing their violations. That includes what order was violated, how the other party
violated the order, where the order was violated, and when (both time and date) the order was violated. If you don’t have this specific proof, it is possible that the judge will not hold the other side in contempt. There are two different types of contempt: civil and criminal. However, the difference between them is not as obvious as you may think. For example, both civil and criminal contempt can include fines as well as jail time. The difference is criminal contempt is meant to punish the disobeying party, whereas civil contempt is more meant to make the harmed party whole again. Because of this, if a party is ordered jail time over civil contempt it may just be until they pay their child support, whereas if they are found in criminal contempt for not paying, they will have to serve their sentence.
On May 6, 2023, the Dallas City Council held its Joint Election to determine who would serve as the next councilmember for District 3 following the term limits of current Councilman Casey Thomas.
First time candidate Zarin Gracey received the most votes of any of the 5 total candidates in the race with 1,394 (46.22%). Now he will face-off in the Municipal Elections Run-off on June 10, 2023, against Joe Tave.
Alongside his wife Erin and their two sons David and Clinton, Zarin has called District 3 home for almost a decade, and for 16 years, he served the City of Dallas in the offices of budget, finance, procurement, and economic development. Additionally, Zarin have served as the President of the City of Dallas Public Finance Corporation and, most recently as the City Planning Commissioner for District 3.
Last week I discussed enforcements and how they are used to make the other party fall in line. Filing an enforcement action is all well and good, but usually it’s only part of your available relief. Because what good is simply ordering someone to comply when they have already refused to do so previously? Requesting the Court to find the other party in contempt gives your enforcement the extra weight needed to make them think twice before disobeying again.
As mentioned last week, contempt
Tina Turner, trailblazing 'Queen of Rock 'n' Roll' who dazzled audiences worldwide, dies at 83
Story by Daniel ArkinTina Turner, the exuberant, heel-stomping, wild-haired rock goddess who sold out stadiums, earned a dozen Grammy Awards and won the adoration of fans around the world in an electrifying music career spanning five decades, has died, according to a statement on her official Facebook page.
She was 83.

"It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tina Turner," the statement said. "With her music and her boundless passion for life, she enchanted millions of fans around the world and inspired the stars of tomorrow.

"Today we say goodbye to a dear friend who leaves us all her greatest work: her music," the statement went on to say. "All our heartfelt compassion goes out to her family. Tina, we will miss you dearly."
The arc of Turner’s highflying but tumultuous life was music industry legend — as well as the basis for a hit 1986 autobiography (“I, Tina”), a Hollywood biopic (“What’s Love Got to Do With It”) and a Broadway jukebox show (“Tina: The Tina Turner Musical”).
She ascended from rural roots to the heights of national stardom, blasting into public consciousness as one half of the sensational rhythm-and-blues duo Ike & Tina Turner and later establishing herself as one of the most popular Black female solo artists in the world.
She was the first woman and the first Black artist to appear on the cover of Rolling Stone — in just its second issue — and her massively successful solo career broke barriers for future generations of Black women in music.
But along the way, Turner experienced personal upheavals and private traumas. She alleged that Ike Turner, her ex-husband and artistic collaborator, subjected her to years of horrific physical abuse and tried to take control of virtually all aspects of her life.
“It was my relationship with Ike that made me most unhappy. At first, I had really been in love with him. Look what he’d done for me. But he was totally unpredictable,” Turner wrote in “I, Tina,” a memoir co-authored by music critic and MTV News correspondent Kurt Loder.
In the late 1970s, Turner managed to extricate herself from her husband and set out on her own. In the ’80s, Turner pulled off one of the most triumphant comebacks in modern rock music, reinventing herself as a gleefully liberated hit-maker who topped the Billboard charts.
Turner, a supremely talented vocalist who belted out songs with abandon, recorded one chart-topping song after another in the ’80s, but one track in
Debra’s Bits and Pieces
particular made her a superstar: “What’s Love Got to Do With It,” a show-stopping anthem off the 1984 album “Private Dancer.”
Turner’s other big hits from the era included “Better Be Good to Me,” “We Don’t Need Another Hero (Thunderdome),” “Typical Male,” “The Best” and “I Didn’t Wanna Fight.”
In the decades that followed, she toured around the world, racked up awards, occasionally acted in films and remained one of the signature musical personalities of the late 20th century. She decided to retire in 2009 after having wrapped up her 50th anniversary tour.
“I’ve done enough,” Turner announced to a crowd of 75,000 people at Letzigrund Stadium in Zurich that year. “I’ve been performing for 44 years. I really should hang up my dancing shoes.”
Turner earned eight competitive Grammy Awards, three Grammy Hall of Fame prizes and a Grammy Lifetime Achievement trophy. She was a two-time inductee into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame — first with Ike Turner (1991), then as a solo artist (2021).
