Soy madre soltera de tres niñas y me mudé de California hace 3 años. Mis ingresos no son muy altos y mis hijas se enfermaban constantemente. Para mí era difícil el pagar sus citas médicas, aunque no fueran muchas veces comoquiera era difícil, y mucho menos tenía para llevarlas al dentista.

Hace como 2 años una amiga me habló de El Centro y ellos me ayudaron a aplicar para KanCare y explicarme el procedimiento y lo que necesitaría para poder aplicar y en cuánto tiempo podría recibir respuesta. Todo fue muy fácil.

Cuando mis hijas fueron aprobadas pudieron tener su pediatra de cabecera. Pude llevarlas al dentista, estar al día con sus vacunas que requiere para la escuela, sin preocuparme que no tuviera para pagar en el Departamento de Salud. Puedo ver la diferencia, ya que una de mis hijas padece de una condición médica y no califica para Medicaid. Es difícil para mí poder pagar sus citas y sus medicamentos. Las que tienen su Medicaid tienen más privilegios que los que no pueden calificar. Es importante poder obtener sus beneficios y mantenerlos vigentes, aprovechandolos al máximo..

We Do Not Have Many Resources

I am a single mother of three girls, and I moved from California about 3 years ago. My income is not that high, and my girls got sick all the time. For me it was difficult to pay for their medical appointments, even though they didn’t go often it was still hard, and it was even harder to take them to the dentist.

About 2 years ago a friend told me about El Centro and they helped me apply for KanCare. They explained the process to me and everything I would need to be able to apply and how long it would take to hear back from them. Everything was very easy.

When my girls were approved, they could have a primary care doctor. I could take them to the dentist, get them up to date on vaccines school required, and not worry about having to pay the Health Department. I can see the difference it makes, being that one of my girls has a health condition and doesn’t qualify for Medicaid. It is hard for me to be able to pay for her appointments and her medicines. The ones that have Medicaid have more privileges than those that don’t qualify. Nevertheless, it is important to be able to get their benefits and keep their coverage active to be able to take advantage of all it has to offer.
