La Importancia de Conocer los Beneficios de Medicaid

Yo estaba preocupada por mi hija de 14 años. Ella tuvo un desarrollo en exceso en una parte de su cuerpo que le afecto en su vida por completo. Ella era una niña muy contenta, sociable, y muy activa antes de esto. Después de su desarrollo, se aisló y sufría de dolores constantes de la espalda y se sentía avergonzada.

Entendía que con solo una cirugía yo la podría ayudar, pero a mi conocimiento esa cirugía era muy cara. Yo soy madre soltera y vivo al día con mis gastos, solo tengo para pagar mi renta, facturas de utilidades y comida. Se me hacía imposible el poder juntar el dinero para esa cirugía y miraba como mi niña iba decayendo de ánimo.

Yo no tenía mucha información, pero hubo una persona que me conectó con un Navegador de Salud de El Centro y ellos me orientaron sobre esto. Me sugirieron que posiblemente Medicaid podría cubrir la cirugía. Aunque para otros la operación tal vez se considera cosmético, para mi niña de 14 años era una necesidad para su salud.

Por eso hoy doy gracias a Dios, a El Centro, y a Medicaid porque mi niña pudo obtener la cirugía que necesitaba y le ayudó tanto físicamente como emocionalmente. Ella vive y tiene sueños como cualquier otro adolescente y al recibir el tratamiento que necesitaba, su futuro se ve más brillante.

The Importance of Knowing Medicaid Benefits

I was worried for my 14-year-old daughter. She had a growth develop rapidly on part of her body, which completely affected her life. She was a very happy child, sociable, and very active before this happened. After this growth, she isolated herself and suffered from constant back pain and felt embarrassed.

I understood that a surgery could help her, but my understanding about this surgery was that it was very expensive. I am a single mom and live day to day with my expenses, I only have enough to pay my rent, household bills, and food. It seemed impossible to be able to come up with the money for the surgery and I was seeing my girl’s state of mind fall.

I didn’t have much information, but there was a person that connected me with a Health Navigator at El Centro, and they helped guide me. They suggested that I apply for Medicaid, and that it could possibly cover the surgery my daughter needed. Even though some might consider the operation cosmetic, for my 14-year girl it was necessary for her health.

That’s why today I thank God, El Centro, and Medicaid because my daughter was able to get the surgery she needed, and it helped her just as much physically as emotionally. She lives and has dreams just like any other adolescent and by receiving the treatment she needed her future is looking brighter.
