PVSCHOOLS CELEBRATES NINE NATIONAL BOARD-CERTIFIED TEACHERS Did you know that National Board Certification is the highest certificate an educator can achieve? It’s true! PVSchools is proud to say that five of their teachers have just reached this distinction, and another four teachers have renewed their credentials. They are now among an elite group of educators who have earned this prestigious honor. Joining the three percent of the teaching population who earned National Board Certification are Pamela Fulk, Sunrise Middle School; Miriam Schantz-Marion, Eagle Ridge Elementary School; Kelly Romm, Grayhawk Elementary School; John Trenton, Pinnacle High School; and Reagen Winters, Boulder Creek Elementary School. Since the NBCT credentials need to be renewed every few years, PVSchools had several teachers complete the National Board’s Maintenance of Certification (MOC) process. The educators who have completed the process are Rachel Cohen, Larkspur Elementary School; Heather Fleming, Quail Run Elementary School; Teresa Smith, Pinnacle High School; and LeAnna Wolkis Goldstein, Fireside Elementary School.
PVSCHOOLS WELCOMES NEW BOARD MEMBER Recently, Maricopa County School Superintendent Steve Watson appointed Michael Laney to the PVSchools Governing Board. Laney will serve on the Governing Board for the remainder of 2022. His appointment fills a vacancy that occurred after the resignation of a Governing Board member. An involved local community member, Laney co-owns an online retail business and was a top sales agent at GoDaddy for several years. He and his wife have four children, two of them have graduated from PVSchools, and two that are still attending schools in the district. He shares that he joined the board as a way to give back to his local public schools.
