School Notes: News from PVSchools
et out your pencil and paper and take note of some of the latest news items from Paradise Valley Unified School District (PVSchools). PVSCHOOLS GOVERNING BOARD PRESIDENT SELECTED FOR 2022 Recently, the PVSchools Governing Board voted to elect Susan Matura as president for 2022. Matura, who has served as a board member since 2019, will be taking over for outgoing president Anne Greenberg. This is her first time serving as president of the PVSchools Governing Board. She and her husband have lived in Arizona for more than 20 years and have three children, one of which is a current student in PVSchools. Matura is actively involved in her children’s schools, serving on the PTO Board for eight years, two as president. She is also a member of United Parent Council (UPC) and served one year as a UPC Executive Officer. Additionally, she has served on several district committees and on a school’s site council. Her term runs through December 2022.

coupled with an excellent community outreach effort. “Shadow Mountain High School cadets performed exceptionally well and took great pride in leading and accomplishing their unit goals,” according to PVSchools. “The AFJROTC citizenship program at Shadow Mountain High School is positively impacting the cadets, the school, and the community.”

The 2021 PBISAZ amAzing Award recognizes schools for successful implementation and outcomes with school-wide systems of Positive Behavior Interventions during the COVID-19 pandemic. The district schools receiving the recognition are: Boulder Creek Elementary School, Cactus View Elementary School, Copper Canyon Elementary School, Desert Cove Elementary School, Desert Shadows Elementary School, Desert Trails Elementary School, Fireside Elementary School, Greenway Middle School, James P. Lee Early Childhood Learning Center, North Ranch Elementary School, and Shea Middle School. Congratulations!
