Quero dar as boas vindas a todos os participantes em mais uma edição, a 16.ª, da Maratona do Porto.
I would like to welcome everyone taking part in yet another edition - the 16th, no less – of the Porto Marathon.
Uma prova que tem lugar de destaque no calendário internacional que ostenta pelo segundo ano consecutivo o selo de qualidade da IAAF - ‘Road Race Bronze’-, o que atesta do seu reconhecimento.
A Marathon that has made its mark as one of the annual highlights for lovers of the sport and which, for the second consecutive year, is proud to have been awarded the IAAF Bronze label - proof of the high standards that can be expected of the event.
Simultaneamente, é um acontecimento desportivo que não esquece a família e quem deseja uma prática desportiva menos extensa. A ‘Family Race’ de 15 km e a Mini-Maratona de 6 km cumprem estes objetivos e completam a abrangência que se pretende numa organização desta grandeza: convidar todos os cidadãos, dos mais jovens aos menos jovens, a praticar atividade física e desporto. São eventos com esta identidade que honram a cidade, a modalidade de Atletismo e, por consequência, o panorama dos eventos internacionais que organizamos.
The Porto Marathon has also made it its mission to create a sporting event that does not leave family behind, also catering for those who wish to run shorter distances. The 15 km “Family Race” and the 6 km Mini-Marathon do just that, providing alternatives for everyone involved in the huge event: welcoming each person, from the youngest to the not-so-young, to take up a sport and get active. It is events like these that pay tribute to the city, to Athletics, and consequently, to the panorama of international events that we organize.

This magazine is an important factor in ensuring the success of the event, thanks to the practical information it provides for the benefit of all the runners who take part.
Devo por isso expressar a minha gratidão a todos quantos se envolvem nesta organização há 16 anos, com especial referência à Run Porto, às Câmaras Municipais envolvidas assim como a todos os parceiros.

Foi com muito prazer que pude acompanhar e constatar o ambiente e a vibração desta grande manifestação desportiva da cidade e do País, deslumbrando quem nos visita, pelo que conto estar presente nesta 16ª edição de 2019!
It was with great pleasure that I was able to be a part of and observe the atmosphere and the enthusiasm generated by this magnificent sporting event, both within city and the country at large, as we took the opportunity to dazzle all those who came to visit us. After that experience, I wouldn’t miss the 16th edition in 2019!
