The Country Memories band made their annual appearance at the North Collins Senior Townwide Dinner on August 3 and gave a tribute to former Town Councilman Mike Perry, who was one of their members. The Seniors always looked forward to hearing Mike playing and singing a set of favorite country tunes. The Town Board sponsors the annual dinner for any Town of North Collins residents over 55. Button and yellow “OLDEST BRANT CITIZEN” Ribbon - all the while giving her best parade wave to those watching from the roadsides. Once at the festival, Josephine was surprised by the banner in the Brant-Farnham Historical display area which included her photo and honored her with special designation as Brant’s Oldest Citizen, a title she has held since 2018. A short time later, when the winners of the parade were announced, the judges had awarded her with the ribbon for “COMMUNITY SPIRIT”! This was certainly a well-deserved honor! Josephine is quite the influence on our Brant and Farnham communities with her sweet disposition and caring ways. Festival attendees were thrilled to have a visit with “Jo B” and the opportunity to pose with her for a photo or two, before she headed home with her granddaughters who were there to share and celebrate this eventful day with her. The Town of Brant Summer Festival was honored to have their soon to be Centenarian participating in the village and town parades held on Saturday June 18th. Josephine Battaglia, born and raised in Farnham, N.Y. would be celebrating her 100th birthday just a short 18 days away, on July 6th. There were two parades - one the length of Commercial Street in Farnham and the other which began at Hammond Road and ended inside the Brant Town Park on the festival grounds. For both parades, Josephine (a life-long resident of Farnham) was driven in a sporty, bright red Mustang convertible by her village neighbor Mike Graci (also a life-long resident of Farnham). Josephine had plenty of competition for attention by the other entrants participating in the parades, but - she outshined everyone with her adorable bonnet, bright yellow outfit, and beaming smile. She proudly wore her “OLDEST BRANT CITIZEN”
