Thomas Alan Dexter (aka Tom, Dex, Tommy, Dexter, Babe), age 50, passed away following an unexpected work related tragedy on July 30th, 2025. Born on February 24, 1975, in Pompton Plains, NJ he was the son of Richard Alan and Emma Jane (Johnson) Dexter. Tom graduated from Elkland Area High School in 1993 and received his associate’s degree from Penn State with a focus on agriculture. From an early age, Tom developed a deep love for farming, inspired by time spent on the family farm. Proudly owned by both the Johnson and Dexter families. He carried that passion into adulthood, eventually building his own business in WNY, Dexter’s Hoofcare. Tom married the love of his life, Angie (Elliott) Dexter, on September 6, 2003, sharing an amazing life together. They loved traveling (Florida Keys, Panama City, Gatlinburg, Branson, Acadia National Park, Outer Banks, Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World, many trips to Maine and the northeast), camping, going to NPK and NHRA races. He was “her person” and she told him she loved him “super tons”. He was one of a kind and just an incredible husband. He knew exactly how to take care of me and gave the best comfort hugs. He would do anything for me, he built a memorial for Katie and Maggie, built me a storage system rack for my she shed, was my personal mechanic. He was just so talented in everything that he did, he could figure out and fix anything. Tom was a devoted son, always showing up with love, patience, and support for both his mother and father. Known for his quiet strength and selfless heart, he never hesitated to put others before himself. When his father needed him the most, he donated stem cells without a second thought. Whether it was cutting wood to keep his family warm or showing up with a helping hand, he gave his time and energy generously, always
thinking of others. Tom’s love for sports started early, playing baseball, basketball, football, and track as a kid. He continued that passion into adulthood by joining the ESA fast pitch softball family (#44Forever), where he enjoyed both the game and the friendships that it brought. He also had a deep love for the outdoors, being an avid fisherman and hunter. The number of pictures that we have of him fishing and hunting with that big, beautiful smile is insane. These hobbies weren’t just activities; they were part of who he was and how he found joy in everyday life. Tom is survived by his wife of 21 years, Angela Christine (Elliott) Dexter; parents Richard and Emma Dexter; sister Tanya (Justin) Spillman; nieces and nephews, Shay and Spencer Spillman; Kylee, Brayden, and Aubree Roe; and many beloved family members and friends. Tom was preceded in death by his fur babies Katie and Maggie; Theodore and Elizabeth Dexter; Earl and Madeline Johnson; Godfather Earl Johnson Jr.; several other cherished family members. Angie would be grateful for anyone who wishes to share stories or memories of Tom, and she kindly asks that you continue to speak his name and keep his spirit alive through the stories he left behind. Words of sympathy made be left on www.LaingFuneralHome.com

Southtowns Catholic School's first, second, and third graders had an amazing time at the Buffalo Zoo during their May visit! The weather was perfect for exploring and learning about various animals and their natural habitats. Among the day's highlights were the Komodo dragon, red pandas, gorillas, lions, and Buffalo's beloved polar bears, Luna and Sakari. It was a fantastic opportunity for the kids to connect with wildlife and gain a better understanding of the animal kingdom.

On Thursday, May 29th, all of Southtowns Catholic School came together for the 8th Annual Fun Run! This year, we added a twist with a Bubble Run for the little ones and a Color Run for students in grades K-8, making it a memorable day for everyone. The morning kicked off with a mini Field Day featuring parachute games, hula hoops, water balloons, and even dodgeball in the gym. The excitement peaked when the snow cone truck arrived, bubbles filled the air, and colorful dust began to fly. Pictured here is our 3rd-grade class after the run

An Ice Cream Social and Summertime fun was the event of the day for Eden’s Respite Program on Wednesday July 16, 2025. Members of Eden’s Summer Theater Camp, sponsored by St. Paul’s Lutheran and Eden United Methodist Churches, and Eden Arts and Music Boosters, performed songs and dance for Respite guests and volunteers. A summertime lunch of hot dogs and hamburgers and potato salad filled the menu. Completing the ice cream social event was the opportunity to build your own ice cream dessert. Dressed as “soda jerks,” students from EUMC assisted guests with freshly scooped ice cream and choice of toppings consisting of chocolate, strawberry, and caramel syrups , bananas, pineapple, cherries, and whipped cream. Watercolor painting coordinator, Judy Marek, provided summertime inspirational objects for painting. The events of the day were brought to a close with sing-along songs with Dave Gawronski and his accordion. Located at the Eden Methodist Church, the third Wednesday of every month, the Eden Respite Program offers the opportunity for caregivers of those suffering from dementia, to get a much needed four hour break, while trained volunteers provide care for and offer socialization, lunch, crafts and entertainment to their loved ones.
Working with the Alzheimers Association, this service is celebrating ten years of assistance to the community. I will love you always and

“All in all, it was a never to be forgotten summer — one of those summers which come seldom into any life, but leave a rich heritage of beautiful memories in their going — one of those summers which, in a fortunate combination of delightful weather, delightful friends and delightful doing, come as near to perfection as anything can come in this world." —L.M. Montgomery
We’ve certainly had a run of lovely, sunny, hot days this year that were just made for spending at the beach or reclining in a hammock in the shade. Maybe you’ve lingered long over backyard dinners with friends or enjoyed an incredible stay at a lakeside cottage and watched the sun set every night. Maybe you’ve come home in the twilight with sun-touched children asleep in the car, sand caked between their toes… There’s a lovely melancholy to these summer days that seems too perfect to ever be real.
We are already moving toward fall and new activities, but there are still August days to cherish and enjoy. Don’t let this summer go away just yet.
