Eden Awards First Check for their Second Round of the New York State Main Street Grant

November 29, 2022 Eden Town Supervisor, Melissa Hartman presented the first of many checks going to Eden businesses awarded funding through the New York State Main Street Grant. This is the second time the Town of Eden has received the NYS Main Street grant; the first round being awarded in 2018. That grant was a total of $300,000 that benefited 10 businesses in the Town. The 50/50 match provided $600,000 in total improvements.

This second round of grants awarded 21 town businesses. With same 50/50 match the Town of Eden’s business district will see close to $1 million in upgrades. Newell-Faulkner American Legion Post 880 was the first recipient with $30,000 going towards their much-needed new roof. Supervisor Hartman credits the updated 2018 Master Plan with the success of these grant awards. “We would not even be considered if it wasn’t for the efforts of the Town to get the update completed. With the focus on our business district and ultimately the implementation of the new business district codes, we were able to capitalize on state grants available to municipalities throughout New York State.”

In addition, with matching funds from the Eden Community Foundation, the Town was able to maximize the streetscape portion of the first round of funding to add upgraded flower pots, hanging baskets and benches. The Town plans on completing similar projects throughout town with this year’s grant.

On October 17, 2022 the Lawtons Progressors 4 – H Club began the 2022 – 2023program year. At the beginning of their business meeting the club officers for the upcoming year were installed. Mrs. Nancy Connor, club leader, installed the following elected officers and members who volunteered for leadership positions. They included:

It is an exciting time for the club with the newly installed officers, new members, and the projects/activities being offered to the membership.

Kathy Warrington (Browning), entered in to rest on Nov. 20, 2022 in her Gowanda, NY home at the age of 62 Years. Formerly of North Collins she leaves behind her loving husband of 34 years Donald Warrington. Mother of sons Michael (Kristy), and Joseph Reynolds and daughter Crystal (Jack) Reynolds. She also leaves behind 6 beautiful grandchildren. She was the daughter of Dolores (Hilliard) Browning and the late Robert Browning Sr. Sister of Robert (Janet) Browning Jr., Ronald (Bobbie Jo), Russell (Dolores) Browning, Darlene (late Tom) Sell, Mary Jane (Skeeter) Wasmund and the late Randall Browning, sister in law of Tracy Browning, Tracey Warrington and daughter in law of Paul and late Ruth Wills, she is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and friends. No prior visitation as there will be a celebration of life in warmer weather.
