“We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.” --Winston S. Churchill
As we approach the holiday season it’s good to keep this thought in mind. Life is not about “acquiring;” it’s not about having the most things or being ostentatious with our possessions. How much happier and simpler our lives would be if we could forget all of that.
Giving to others is what gives our lives purpose-- and those gifts need not be monetary ones. Can you spare time to take an elderly person to an appointment, help them with paperwork, or just call to chat? Can you take your children to help serve at a soup kitchen-- not just during the holidays but on an average day?
Give of your time and talents to those less fortunate and you will find new enjoyment in your life.
