I Remember When

Seems like when you were in your pre teen's the snow was deeper. I do remember we made tunnels in my parents front lawn. I remember Ken Yager delivering milk when it was freezing weather, and mother had a box on the front porch for him to put the bottled milk in, by the time we took it in the house the cream on top had froze about two inches with the cap on top. The dangerous thing we did was stand at Maple and Main street, in a blizzard like day and when a car came along with chains on we would run out and hold onto the bumper and slide on our feet for a good distance Comment: Seems to me when Lake Erie is warm in November the cold wind comes across ,and gives us the Snow bands, when the Lake is cold. the warm air comes across and we get snow bands. That's why my parents went to Florida in November.

On Wednesday, December 14, Santa showed up at Josif's Restaurant to the delight of many local children and their families. Children had the chance to give Santa their wish list and talk to Santa. They were also treated to hot dogs and chips. Many stayed for several hours and enjoyed the spirit of the season. It was a very joyous evening!

Daniel C. Vacco, age 86, passed away on January 3, 2023 of Hamburg, NY, formerly of North Collins, NY and Boynton Beach, FL. Beloved father of Angie (Bill) Schmitz, Suzanne (Joe) Kalwara, Dan (Laurie) Vacco, dearest grandfather of Jeff, Eric & Karen Schmitz and Derek & Dylan Vacco. Survived by sister Mary Jane (Gerald) Watson, and many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Predeceased by parents Mary Jane (Ferraro) and Donato Vacco, brothers Vito William (Lucy) Vacco, Carmen (Mildred) Vacco, and his loving wife Barbara. Mr. Vacco graduated from North Collins Central in 1955 and received a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Buffalo in 1960. He worked at Adam, Meldrum & Anderson (AM&A's) in Buffalo for 35 years until retiring to Florida in 1995. He moved back to Hamburg, NY in September 2021.

Laird Thomas Carpenter age 75, passed away January 2, 2023 in Buffalo, New York.

Beloved brother to the late Cynthia (Lui) Casolini Dal Bo, late William (Jane) Carpenter, and late Grover (Nancy) Carpenter.
