Curriculum & Baccalaureates Up to the end of Middle School, we follow the French national curriculum with notable exceptions as half of all lessons are taught in English. The curriculum is enriched at all levels, not only with more advanced English language and literature, but also, for example, with an inquiry-based science programme and Mandarin Chinese language teaching. 10th graders choose between two tracks, leading towards the International French Baccalaureate (BFI) or the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB DP) in 11th grade. Both tracks have the same common core, including mandatory IGCSEs in English Literature & Language. In 11th grade, students make a final decision between the International French Baccalaureate (BFI) or the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB DP): In our IB Diploma Programme, all subjects are taught in English with the exception of languagebased subjects, such as French, which are taught in the language by native speakers. All students enrolled in the IB programme prepare the full IB diploma and a very large majority of our students prepare the demanding bilingual version of the IB DP which replaces Language B with a second Language A module. Our school offers the American section of the BFI, a demanding bilingual and bicultural programme developed by the French Ministry of Education in partnership with the College Board. Over the two-year programme, students who have chosen the BFI track follow a core curriculum (consisting of French Literature, Philosophy, Civics, Scientific Literacy, a Modern Language, PE and a Research Project), three concentrations* (one of which is dropped at the end of 11th grade) and three BFI-specific college level courses. As part of their BFI, our students take two American APs: European History or Human Geography, and English Literature and Composition. Students can also take Calculus BC as an additional option. Total instruction in English accounts for up to 40% of the diploma. * possible concentrations include : History, Geography, Geopolitics and Political Science; Humanities, Literature and Philosophy; Mathematics; Physics and Chemistry; Economics and Social Sciences

Extracurricular Activities Despite having less time than their American counterparts to dedicate to extracurricular activities, our students nonetheless take part in a plethora of projects and activities outside the classroom. In addition to student societies and councils, most of our 10th graders take part in the Duke of Edinburgh programme and all IB students complete the Creativity, Action, Service (CAS) programme. These projects enable them to make positive contributions to wider society while developing skills such as collaboration, problem solving and decision-making.
