SECTORES DE LA INDUSTRIA EN GUATEMALA

Resumen

Cada sector industrial produce bienes similares, de ahí que cada conjunto de este tipo de empresas sea conocido por una misma nomenclatura oficial.

La división se realiza de acuerdo a los procesos de producción que ocurren al interior de cada uno de ellos.

La industria es una rama importante de la economía guatemalteca; el sector más grande era tradicionalmente la agricultura, siendo Guatemala el mayor exportador mundial de Cardamomo, el segundo mayor exportador de banano, el quinto exportador de azúcar y el séptimo productor de café. El sector turismo en Guatemala es el segundo generador de divisas para el país tras las remesas de los emigrantes.

Abstract

Each industrial sector produces similar goods, hence each set of these types of companies is known by the same official nomenclature.

The division is made according to the production processes that occur within each of them.

Industry is an important branch of the Guatemalan economy; the largest sector was traditionally agriculture, with Guatemala being the world's largest exporter of cardamom, the second largest exporter of bananas, the fifth largest exporter of sugarand the seventh largest producer of coffee. The tourism sector in Guatemala is the second largest generator of foreign exchange for the country after remittances from emigrants.

Para entender el marco económico guatemalteco, primero se debe tener conocimiento sobre los sectores que ayudan a la economía del país y sus divisiones. En Guatemala los principales sectores de la economía se dividen en tres: sector primario, secundario y terciario. Dentro de cada uno de estos sectores existen las diferentes actividades que ayudan al crecimiento del país.

 SECTOR PRIMARIO: Incluye a las actividades de la agricultura, ganadería, caza, silvicultura y pesca. Sus subsectores más importantes son el sector agrícola tradicional, el sector agrícola no tradicional, el sector de la industria de la pesca y la acuicultura y la industria cárnica. o Sector agrícola tradicional: Al referirse a tradicional, se habla de los más comunes y con más producción y exportación en Guatemala. Este sector tiene los productos como el café, al cual El Ministerio de Agricultura, Ganadería y Alimentación de Guatemala (MAGA) considera que es de vital importancia socio-económica para el país. También está la producción del banano, la cual aporta millones al país, azúcar, que es uno de los cultivos tradicionales más importantes del país, y cardamomo, del cual Guatemala es el principal exportador mundial. o Sector agrícola no tradicional: Abarca la producción y exportación de frutas, caucho, y palma africana. To understand the Guatemalan economic framework, you must first have knowledge about the sectors that help the country's economy and their divisions. In Guatemala, the main sectors of the economy are divided into three: primary, secondary and tertiary sectors. Each of these sectors carry out the different activities that help the country's growth.

 PRIMARY SECTOR: Includes agriculture, livestock, hunting, forestry and fishing activities. Its most important subsectors are the traditional agricultural sector, the nontraditional agricultural sector, the fishing and aquaculture industry sector and the meat industry. o Traditional agricultural sector: When referring to traditional, it speaks of the most common and with the most production and export in Guatemala. This sector has products such as coffee, which the Guatemalan Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food (MAGA, for its acronym in Spanish) considers to be of vital socio-economic importance for the country. There is also the production of bananas, which contributes millions to the country, sugar, which is oneofthemost important traditional crops in the country, and cardamom, of which Guatemala is the world's leading exporter. o Non-traditional agricultural sector: It includes the production and export of fruits, rubber, and African palm.

o Pesca y acuicultura: el camarón es el principal producto que explota

Guatemala, también se destaca la actividad atunera. o Industria cárnica: Los principales productos cárnicos consumidos son carne de pollo o gallina (28%), carne de vacuno sin hueso (27%) y carne de vacuno con hueso (17%).

 SECTOR SECUNDARIO: Dentro del sector secundario, hay dos actividades que resaltan: o La industria manufacturera: en ésta se destaca a la industria textil, el sector de los artículos de vestuario y textiles es el de mayor tamaño. Representa el 8,9% del PIB y el 19% de la producción industrial (PIB industrial). o El sector de la construcción: Los proyectos energéticos, inmobiliarios y la construcción de centros comerciales, han contribuido en el crecimiento económico de este sector.

 SECTOR TERCIARIO: El sector terciario corresponde a los servicios y es importante porque por medio de él los productos llegan a los consumidores. Las actividades comerciales necesitan contar con financiación de bancos u otros agentes del sector financiero, también deben contar con asesores jurídicos, contables y de recursos humanos.

Ejemplos: o Servicios financieros o Fishing and aquaculture: shrimp is the main product that Guatemala exploits, the tuna activity also stands out.

o Meat industry: The main meat products consumed are chicken or hen meat (28%), boneless beef (27%) and bone-in beef (17%).

 SECONDARY SECTOR: Within the secondary sector, there are two activities that stand out: o The manufacturing industry: in this one, the textile industry stands out, the clothing and textile articles sector is the largest. It represents 8.9% of GDP and 19% of industrial production (industrial GDP). o The construction sector: Energy and real estate projects and the construction of shopping centers have contributed to the economic growth of this sector.

 TERTIARY SECTOR: The tertiary sector corresponds to the services. It is important as it is through it that products reach consumers. Commercial activities need to rely on bank financing or other financial sector agents, as well as legal and accounting and human resources advisors.

o Servicios legales o Medios de comunicación o Ventas al por menor o Casinos o Turismo o Franquicias o Inmobiliarias  SECTOR CUATERNARIO: También llamadas empresas “for-benefit” o híbridas.

Este sector, que es una subdivisión del sector terciario que busca monetizar actividades intelectuales o de conocimiento, es relativamente reciente, son empresas que buscan por igual tener una rentabilidad económica y un compromiso por el medio ambiente y la sociedad.  SECTOR QUINARIO: Es también una subdivisión del sector terciario y son todas esas actividades no lucrativas que favorecen a la economía.

o Legal services o Media o Retail sales o Casinos o Tourism o Franchises o Real state  QUATERNARY SECTOR: They are also called “for-benefit” or hybrid enterprises.

This sector, a subdivision of the tertiary sector, seeks to monetize intellectual activities, or of knowledge; it is relatively recent. These enterprises seek to have an economic profitability and an equal compromise with the environment and the society.

 QUINARY SECTOR: It is also a subdivision of the tertiary sector and it consists of all the non-lucrative activities that favor economy.
