Quick Guide for Senior School Students’ Device
For New Student joining School Year of 2025/26 in Aug 2025
All Senior School students are required to support their learning with a ‘Bring Your Own Device’ (BYOD) programme. The device can be a laptop (PC, Mac, Linux or Chromebook) or a tablet (either Android or iPad, larger than mini) but it should meet the following minimum specifications:
• It must have a physical keyboard. If a student is using a tablet, a portable keyboard should be connectable via Bluetooth or a docking station.
• Cellular-enabled devices (i.e. those with SIM cards) are not allowed. In order to regulate content viewed on devices whilst at school, all devices must only connect to the internet via the school wireless network.
• Students should be able to carry out the following practical activities comfortably with their device: access the internet (e.g. for OneDrive, Microsoft Teams and Microsoft 365 tools), word process, use spreadsheets with formulae, create presentations, record and edit audio and film.
• Students will be saving their work to OneDrive meaning work will be backed up and only limited storage capacity is required on their device.
• It must have a battery life that will last a full day.
Most students in the Senior School use a laptop but there are an increasing number of hybrid laptop/tablets on the market that are proving popular.
