Information Communication Technology (ICT) - Primary School Acceptable Use Policy
We think SMART in the Primary School and follow the KidSMART rules when using technology, whether inside or outside of school.

Looking after me:
• I will ask my teacher before using the Internet, a computer or an iPad.
• I will only go on websites, use apps or programs that my teacher has let me use.
• I will use chats, games or other technology at appropriate times. My parents and teachers will put in place limits to help me, and I will follow these.
• I will only share pictures, stories and information about myself when my teacher tells me to.
• I will be especially careful with personal information, like my name, email address, real address, photos or video.
• When in school, I will only connect to the school network; I will not use a mobile phone.
• I will only send things that I would be happy for my teacher or parents to see.
• I will keep my password secret and only share it with my parents or teachers.
• I will tell my teacher if I find anything or am sent anything that is unkind, rude or upsets me.
• I will tell an adult if anything happens that makes me feel worried.
Looking after others:
‘Others’ can mean people, groups or organisations - even ones that you do not know. It could be someone in your class or a group - like a school.
• I will use kind words, write positive messages and stand up to bullies.
• I will use kind words and write positive messages.
• I will stand up to bullies. I will not share unkind messages and will tell a trusted adult if somebody else is being unkind.
• I will respect other people’s work. I will only use my account and will check with my teacher if I find someone else’s work open or their account logged in.
• I will ask other people before taking or sharing their photos/videos or using their work.
• I will not use AI to do my homework for me or pretend that someone else’s work is mine. I will be honest, try my best, and give credit when I use other people’s ideas.

• I will not use AI to change pictures or videos to make someone look bad or to trick others. I will always be kind and honest when using technology.
Look after property:
‘Property’ means things that belong to other people, a group or me. This could be things I can touch, like an iPad, or things that have been created - like an idea, photo or piece of work.
• I will be careful when using and carrying iPads or laptops and will not snatch them even if I believe it is my turn.
• I will leave iPads and laptops as I found them and will not change any settings.
• I will ask before downloading anything because I know that some downloaded materials can be dangerous.
• I will respect other people’s property. I will not look, take or change it without asking them.
As adults, we promise:
• I am aware I am responsible for my actions on the College network and for the contents of all storage areas and accounts belonging to me.
• We will listen to you if you come to us with a problem.
• If you make a mistake, we will try to help you.
• We will take an interest in the things you do and the technology you use. We will help you find things that are appropriate, safe and fun.
• We will respect your right to privacy. But to keep you safe, we may need to look at your materials, what you put online or store on your device.
