Presents Virtual Gala Day 2020 The Desert of Florida
launched its “Virtual Gala Day 2020” celebration via Zoom on Saturday, May 30 at 8:00 p.m. Our world has been undeniably altered by the COVID-19 Coronavirus; however, as we weathered this storm, we wanted to keep the Desert looking forward by honoring our Deputy of the Desert HPIP Pierre E. Rutledge (149) and Deputy for the Desert Dt. Collette Hart Wallace, PC (117) for their leadership and work in our communities. In fact, the originator of this brilliant and memorable idea was Dt. Mechelle Martin, PC (117) and the Desert Media Department, under the leadership of PP James Alexander (63). Awesome! Meanwhile, over 230 Nobles and Daughters participated in this historical event in the Desert of Florida, including several Imperial Court and Imperial Council Elected Officers: The 47th Imperial Commandress, Dt. Jacqualine Brown Arradondo (22), Imperial 2nd Lt. Commandress, Dt. Karen Wright-Chisolm (128), Imperial 1st Ceremonial Daughter, Dt. Cheryl R. Eggleston (23), Imperial Outside Spy, Dt. Arlana Miller-Brown(32); the 43rd Imperial Potentate, Rev. Charles W. Davenport (125), Deputy Imperial Potentate, John T. Chapman (1), Imperial Chief Rabban, The Honorable Eric R. Myers (23), Imperial First Ceremonial Master, Gary Sylvester (24), and Imperial Second Ceremonial Master, Jerwon L. Avery (35). Once remarks were made by Desert temples, courts, invited dignitaries and via open mic, that’s when the party got started with a live DJ Noble K. D. Morley, of Ahmed Temple No. 37. Played a mixture of “Old School” and “New School” jams. We had lots of singing and dancing the night away -- virtually. Most importantly, we all had some good Florida-style fun. It was great to see each other live on Zoom after being apart for a long period of time.
