But, when it comes to service, she doesn’t clown around. She is a Past Commandress of Kazah Court No. 117 in Miami, Florida; and because she smiles so much, she was nicknamed Giggles. Although she’s called Giggles, her bright smile slowly began to fade as she learned more about the crisis that had turned into the COVID-19 pandemic. She felt blessed that she could continue educating students from home, but she was deeply concerned about the safety of frontline workers who were obligated to work in public. Giggles thought to herself, “What can I do to help?” In return, she wanted to show her appreciation to them. But, by this time, a stay-at-home order was in effect and there wasn’t much she could do. Somehow, she figured out how to safely help from her home. Thus, the Essential Worker Lunch Give-Away was born. The initial plan was simple. She would treat an Essential Worker to lunch. In order to decide who to bless with a free lunch, Dt. Davis held a Facebook Live raffle for 45 deserving essential workers from all over the country. Unfortunately, she had only planned for one winner. But, before the drawing was over, donations started to pour in. By the end of the drawing, she was blessed with enough donations to provide free lunches for all 45 participants. It was evident that several Nobles and Daughters were thinking like Giggles, “We too can laugh, spread joy, and stay safe until we meet again!” PC Dt. Robin Davis and several of her friends in the Masonic family made it possible to do lunch drawings every Wednesday in April and May. Those friends are: Imperial Deputy for the Desert of Florida, PC Dt. Collette Hart Wallace, Illustrious Commandress of Kazah Court No. 117, Dt. Rosemary Bridges, PC Dt. Adrienne Ferguson, PC Dt. Iris Fletcher, Imperial Deputy for the Desert of South Carolina, PC Dt. Allyson Hart Bryant, PC Dt. Brandi Daniels, PC Dt. Mimi Phillips, PC Dt. Tanya Harper, HPC Dt. Lila Gaston, HPC Dt. Letha Bethel, Dt. Sharolyn Turner, Dt. Loris McCorvey, Dt. Paulette Palmer, Dt. Anquineta Plazz, PP Noble Rodney Sanders, PP Noble Mark McCoy and Noble Melvin Jackson. Dt. Davis felt overwhelmingly blessed to know that so many would participate without solicitation. By the end of May, she and her crew had provided 100 lunches to honor the sacrifice of the men and women on the front line. Dt. Davis’s unselfish act is a credit to Kazah Court No.117 and the Desert of Florida. We are honored to salute Dt. Robin Davis!!! The Desert of Florida’s Oasis Magazine
