t Viet Nam listed among 10 fastestgrowing foreign tourist destinations
Viet Nam ranks third among the 10 fastest-growing foreign tourist destinations in 2017 and 2016, according to Tourism Highlights Report 2018 recently released by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). Egypt topped the list with 55.1% growth, followed by Togo and Viet Nam with 46.7% and 29.1%, respectively. Next are Palestine, Niue, Nepal, Israel, Northern Mariana Islands, Turkey, Iceland and Macedonia. The report showed Europe is most favored by tourists with 671 million, making up nearly half of global total tourism (1.3 billion). This continent also sees 6 of the 10 countries receiving the largest number of tourists in 2017, with France taking the lead. It was followed by Asia - Pacific with 323 million, America with 209 million, Africa 63 million and the Middle East with 58 million. For the level of spending on each overseas trip in 2017, Chinese tourists are the biggest spenders with about USD258 billion, making up nearly one fifth of the global total of about USD1,300 billion, followed by the US with USD135 billion ●
p Viet Nam’s Golden Bridge, fishing village reaffirm awesome reputation
Two Vietnamese “wonders” have reaffirmed their eye-catching charm by being listed among 20 most breathtaking places in the world. The list, compiled by Cyprus-based travel site Brightside, includes the Golden Bridge in Da Nang city, held up by two giant hands in a “surreal” spectacle, and the Cua Van fishing village in Ha Long Bay. In fact, the 150-meter-long Golden Bridge, rising above the Truong Son mountain range in central Vietnam, tops the list. The bridge, which opened to tourists in June this year, has achieved almost instant global fame because of the imagination shown by architect Vu Viet Anh and his team. It was also featured in CNN’s best travel photographs of the year. The Cua Van floating fishing village in the World Heritage site of Ha Long Bay in the northern province of Quang Ninh is 17th on the list. The village is home to more than 170 fishing families. Last year, the village had also made the list of top 30 travel destinations in the world as voted by readers of the U.S.-based Travel +Leisure magazine ●

p Qatar Airways to launch direct flights to Da Nang this December
Qatar Airways launched direct flights to Da Nang starting December 19 as the third Vietnamese destination on the award-winning airline’s rapidly expanding global network. The airline said in a statement on September 6 that it will offer four-times weekly flights with a Boeing 787-8 aircraft, featuring 22 seats in Business Class and 232 seats in Economy Class. The launch of direct flights to Da Nang followed the newly announced service to Gothenburg, Sweden. As part of its continued expansion plans, Qatar Airways plans a host of new destinations throughout 2018, including Gothenburg, Tallinn (Estonia) and Valletta (Malta). Da Nang, one of the largest cities in Viet Nam, hosted 6.6 million tourists including 1.67 million foreigners in 2017. The city expects the new air route will help promote trade, investment and tourism between the central region and the Middle East ●

The Department of Tourism of Ha Noi has called on locals and tourists to vote for the city as the world’s leading city destination in 2018 as part of the World Travel Awards. The city has been nominated by the World Tourism Organization to compete with 17 other candidates. The other cities suggested for the award are Auckland of New Zealand, Cape Town and Durban of South Africa, Dubai of the United Arab of Emirates, Hong Kong of China, Kuala Lumpur of Malaysia, Las Vegas and New York of the US, Lisbon of Portugal, London of England, Marrakech of Morocco, Paris of France, Quito of Ecuador, Rio de Janeiro of Brazil, Saint-Petersburg of Russia, and Sydney of Australia. Voting time lasts from September 19 to October 24, 2018 at link https://sodulich.hanoi.gov/binh-chon-awards. t New Highway Paves the Way for Halong Bay Boom
A new highway connecting capital city Hanoi and UNESCO World Heritage site Halong Bay officially opened, cutting the four-hour drive time between the popular northern destinations in half. The VND 13 trillion (USD 572 million) highway is one of two new major transport projects in Quang Ninh Province. A new international airport just east of Halong City is scheduled to open to air traffic in December this year. The impending milestones come on the verge of a breakout year for Quang Ninh. As the official location of Vietnam National Tourism Year 2018, the province is slated to host more than 50 cultural, sports and tourism events this year and welcome as many as 12 million visitors. In celebration of the highway opening and in an attempt to further drive tourism to Halong Bay, Paradise has rolled out a day-cruise promotion. Available from now, the package starts from VND 1.8 million (USD 80) per person and includes roundtrip transfer by shuttle bus from Hanoi, lunch aboard Paradise Explorer and all sightseeing fees as well as any taxes and service charges. t Vietravel wins big at Tour Travel Awards 2018
Vietnamese tour operator Vietravel has been named “Asia’s Leading Tour Operator 2018” and “Viet Nam’s Leading Tour Operator 2018” by the World Travel Awards (WTA) for the sixth consecutive year. The honour was presented at a ceremony held in Hong Kong (China) on the evening of September 3. At present, Vietravel has more than 40 offices and branches nationwide as well as in some foreign countries such as Cambodia, Thailand, and the US. The company plans to continue opening representative offices in other countries. Established in 1993, the World Travel Awards, known as “the Oscar of the travel industry” by the Wall Street Journal, have been annually held to honour the best service providers in the fields of travel and tourism ●
t Ramada Worldwide by Wyndham debuts in Vietnam with beachfront resort
Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, the world’s largest hotel franchisor and leading provider of hotel management services, has signed its first hotel to fly the renowned Ramada Worldwide by Wyndham flag in Ho Tram— one of Vietnam’s most exciting up-andcoming destinations. Owned and developed by Ho Tram Project Company Limited, Ramada by Wyndham Ho Tram Strip will be an exceptional upper-midscale seafront hotel located within the Ho Tram Strip—Vietnam’s first integrated beach resort destination which covers 164 hectares and a 2.2km beachfront site. The hotel, which is currently under construction and is expected to open in late 2019, is located less than two hours from the nation’s largest metropolis, Ho Chi Minh City, and Tan Son Nhat International Airport. t Hai Van Gate set to become tourist magnet
The Hai Van Gate (Hai Van Quan) was built on Hai Van Pass by the Nguyen dynasty in 1826 to protect the Hue Imperial Citadel and control Da Nang’s waterfront. The structure was recognized as a national relic site in 2017 and is now being renovated as a tourist attraction. Located 490 m above sea level, the Hai Van Gate holds profound historical, architectural and artistic value. It connects Da Nang City with Thua Thien-Hue province in the central region. Structures include fortifications, store houses, and cannon forts. A recent excavation of the Hai Van Gate relic complex unveiled the layout of the old citadel walls and a section of the north-south route. The Hai Van Gate attracted more than 320,000 visitors last year ●

InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort developed by Sun Group had a good harvest of prestigious awards at the World Travel Awards 2018 organised in Hong Kong on September 3. Notably, InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort has won the following accolades: Asia’s Leading Green Resort 2018, Asia’s Leading Luxury Hotel Villa 2018, Asia’s Leading Luxury Resort 2018, Asia’s Leading Luxury Wedding Resort 2018, and Vietnam’s Leading Luxury Resort 2018. Of particular note, this year, InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort overcame the winner of the previous four consecutive years, Mission Hills Shenzhen (China) as well as seven other competitors to become Asia’s Leading Green Resort 2018. t 123 billion VND for restoration of Kien Trung Palace (Thua Thien – Hue)
The central province of Thua Thien-Hue recently announced an investment of 123 billion VND (5.28 million USD) for restoration of Kien Trung Palace inside the Nguyen dynasty’s imperial city. As the first restoration project at the palace since it was destroyed in 1947 by the war, it will be implemented by the Hue Monuments Conservation Centre. The project will cover consolidation of the building’s foundation; restoration of walls, floor, roof and interior decors; and building of some facilities like fire prevention and fighting system and anti-lightning equipment. In the imperial city, Kien Trung Palace stood behind the Thai Hoa (Supreme Harmony) Palace, which served as the main meeting hall for kings and their mandarins. The palace was the home of the dynasty’s last kings, Khai Dinh and Bao Dai. The palace was built in a mixture of French, Italian Renaissance and old Vietnamese architectural styles by King Khai Dinh in 1923. Earlier at the site, there was a pavilion built by King Minh Mang and later repaired by King Tu Duc and King Duy Tan ●
t HCM City event honours 45 years of VNJapan ties
Japan Festival Day was held on 16 September in Hồ Chí Minh City to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relation between Việt Nam and Japan. The festival gave visitors a glimpse of the countries’ cultures by featuring unique activities like a Japanese tea ceremony and Vietnamese tea culture, the Vietnamese áo dài, and traditional yukata and kendo (Japanese martial arts). The festival is also an opportunity for Vietnamese and Japanese businesses to seek investment and cooperation. The event was held by HCMC’s Union of Friendship Organisation and HCMC’s University of Social Sciences and Humanities. “The Việt Nam – Japan relationship is at its best since the two countries established diplomatic relations on September 21, 1973. The two countries have continued to hold high level exchanges, enhanced economic cooperation, and culture and people-to-people exchanges, contributing to a better understanding and beautiful friendship between the two countries, Nguyễn Công Tánh, chairman of HCMC’s Việt Nam – Japan Friendship Association, said at the opening ceremony ●
t Vietnam shines in TripAdvisor’s best destinations for Bucket List holidays
TripAdvisor has announced its list of top 10 best destinations for Bucket List holidays. Vietnam has been ranked third among the top 10 destinations for Bucket List holidays, according to a list released by TripAdvisor, a US travel and restaurant website company. According to TripAdvisor, Vietnam deserves to be ranked third among the 10 best destinations for Bucket List holidays as the Southeast Asian country is known for its bustling cities, delicious food and beautiful coastline. TripAdvisor advises travelers spend a half-day for Hanoi food tour, or enjoy a fullday Mekong Delta bike tour from Ho Chi Minh City, and evening Hoi An food tour by bike. Costa Rica tops the lists, followed by New Zealand, Vietnam, Ireland, Scotland, Australia, Portugal, Mexico, the US, and Iceland. The number of foreign tourists to Vietnam in the first seven months of 2018 is estimated at 9.08 million, a year-on-year rise of 25.4%, the General Statistics Office (GSO) has announced ●

p CNN eyes Phu Quoc among Top places for autumn
The US’s Cable News Network (CNN) has listed Viet Nam among the Top 5 Asia-Pacific destinations to visit this autumn. The News said: “If you're dreaming of a beach getaway in Asia this fall, Phu Quoc in Viet Nam should be a top contender. For starters, the dry season begins in November and runs till April.” In addition, it's is just an hour from Ho Chi Minh city and offers a 30-day visa exemption policy for all foreign passports. According to CNN, this former prison island during French colonial times, Phu Quoc's photogenic setting and clear waters caught the attention of international brands like JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay, which debuted its Bill Bensley-designed resort late last year. In its introduction about activities on the island, CNN said there's plenty to do aside from lounging and snorkeling around Ong Lang beach. As for the food, this island is famous for its fish sauce. The Phu Quoc Prison Museum offers a peek into the island's dark history, while the Phu Quoc National Park and Suoi Tranh Waterfall will spoil nature lovers. very year, the Buckwheat Flowers Festival begins in October, attracting a large number of domestic visitors to admire the boundless flower fields at the foot of the mountain. For international tourists, the trip is amazing with spectacular scenery, wild ride, challenging windy and slippery roads.
The easiest way to appreciate the fantastic scenery of northernmost Hà Giang province is to take a motorbike ride around the Đồng Văn circuit. Leaving Đồng Văn for Mèo Vạc the road immediately climbs into the hills, affording a fine view of the city’s lovely setting against steeply rising limestone hills. The landscape becomes more dramatic beginning at the H’mông village of Mả Pì Lèng pass, halfway to

Mèo Vạc, full of jagged peaks, steep cliffs, deep canyons and oddly shaped promontories popping up from the slopes. After several more km the road starts winding down into the broad valley around Mèo Vạc. After Mèo Vạc, you turn west towards Yên Minh, along a hilly route mottled with Hmông villages. The mountains are not as high along this route, but enhanced by the frequent sight of ethnic minorities walking along the road. At Yên Minh the road turns north, climbs into the splendid mountains again and after 20 km turns east back to Đồng Văn. Several km later, at Xà Phìn village, is the area’s most famous historical relic - the Vương Family Palace, former home of the H’mong chieftain appointed by the French to administer the area. Built in 1919 in the Chinese style, it
comprises three connected courtyards of wooden buildings, surrounded by a brick wall. The exhibits inside provide insights into life in the colonial period. The road continues through more majestic mountains and passes through a forest on the final descent to Đồng Văn. On the way, you can catch the special scenes of the local villagers or children playing, give a stop and hang out with them to find how they are friendly and innocent. This is the fourth time I came to Viet Nam for travelling. I came back this time to take one new experience of Viet Nam. I decided to choose the North and it actually made me not disappointed. àng năm, lễ hội hoa tam giác mạch (kiều mạch Buckwheat) bắt đầu từ tháng 10, thu hút một lượng lớn du khách trong nước đến chiêm ngưỡng những cánh đồng hoa bạt ngàn nở dưới chân núi. Còn đối với du khách quốc tế - đặc biệt là giới backpacker - “phượt” Hà Giang là một trải nghiệm hấp dẫn vì những cung đèo quanh co, hiểm trở với từng con dốc cao ngoằn ngoèo, khúc khuỷu, vượt qua những ngọn núi trùng trùng điệp điệp cao vút.
Cung phượt lý thú này thường bắt đầu tại cột mốc Km 0 ngay trung tâm thành phố Hà Giang. Từ đây, chúng tôi bắt đầu đi về phía Bắc theo quốc lộ 4C, dọc con sông Lô hiền hoà khoảng 40km để đến điểm tham quan đầu tiên là cổng trời Quản Bạ. Leo bộ hết vài trăm bậc thang lên đến cổng trời, mở ra một khoảng không gian bao la với núi non nhấp nhô trước mắt, bên dưới là thung lũng tuyệt đẹp với những thửa ruộng vàng óng ả trải dài như vô tận. Không xa đó là xã Phố Cáo, nơi có phiên chợ lùi rộng ràng đầy màu sắc, cũng là nơi hò hẹn của nhiều đôi trai gái. Niềm hứng khởi dâng trào khi chúng tôi đi đến con dốc 9 khoanh độc đáo, nơi mà nhà thơ Chu Thị Minh Huệ đã viết:

Tiếp tục theo quốc lộ 4C khoảng 10km là đến dinh Vua Mèo tại xã Xà Phìn. Dinh được xây dựng bằng đá xanh và gỗ quý, 2 tầng mái lợp ngói âm dương từ năm 1919, xung quanh là những cây sa mộc to cao hàng trăm năm. Cho tới nay, nhà Vương vẫn được bảo tồn nguyên vẹn, lưu giữ nhiều dụng cụ sinh hoạt của vua Mèo Vương Chính Đức.

How did you come up with the idea for the Vietnam Mountain Marathon in Sa Pa? And what is the meaning of the race?

Being a trail runner and working a long time as a manager at Topas Ecolodge in Sa Pa, I found this site to be challenging, with beautiful trails on diverse terrains, and considered it to have a special potential for mountain running. With the desire to share these wonderful trails with running lovers from all over the world, I organized the race Vietnam Mountain Marathon (VMM) with the first one held in 2013.
How was VMM 2018 different from previous ones? The difference is in the number of Vietnamese participants. In the first race 2013, the runners were mainly foreigners and the Vietnamese were counted on fingers. In
the 6th race held in September 2018, there were more than 2,000 Vietnamese runners participating in all distances 10K, 15K, 21K, 42K, 70K, and even 100K, accounting for more than 70% of the race’s participants. The remaining 30% of runners were from 56 countries around the world like Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, America, France…
Except for VMM, do you have plans for similar races in other parts of Vietnam? From 2019 we will introduce a series of mountain trails in Vietnam including Vietnam Trail Marathon (VTM) in January in Moc Chau, Son La, Vietnam Jungle Marathon (VJM) in May at Pu Luong Nature Reserve in Thanh Hoa; and the 7th Vietnam Mountain Marathon in September in Sapa, Lao Cai. As an experienced tour operator, how do you think about the current status of tour business in Vietnam? There are many positive signals. Diverse visitor markets have led to the shortening of low-season time. Travel agents in Vietnam can also introduce new products and services directly to their target markets thanks to the development of information technology. They can also adapt rapid changes to catch up with the development of the worldwide tourism market. There has been a global trend in
combining travel and the exploration of hidden destinations. In Vietnam there is a diversity of beautiful landscapes benefiting from this trend. Travel combined with exercise has attracted more and more foreign tourists to Vietnam. In addition, the domestic travel market has been rising rapidly. Vietnamese tourists are also more likely to adapt types of tourism that previously attracted only foreign visitors such as cycling, hiking, trail running, etc… You know this when seeing the number of Vietnamese runners in VMM this year. They also trend to stay at environmentally friendly accommodations.
In your opinion, how should sustainable tourism be developed in Vietnam?
I think sustainable tourism development is urgent for Vietnam tourism. It is necessary to have consistent and updated policies from tourism management levels. And travel agents themselves can also contribute to the sustainable development of their country’s tourism by focusing on making tourism products attached to sustainable factors of environment, culture, society, and economy.
Do you have any advice for travel agents in Vietnam? Vietnam tourism has a great variety of destinations and travel products. T
he Da Nang region has five quality golf courses and Ba Na Hills fits in perfectly with its unique and special mountainous lay out. The golf course is situated at the base of the Ba Na Hills resort which holds one of the longest chair lift stations in the world. We stayed the day enjoying the entertainment, attractions and amazing views before 4.30pm when it was time to head back down the 45 min
chairlift and plays some very fun golf. Back to the golf course, we find the front nine is the flatter of the two and starts off alongside the massive Ba Na Hills Mountain on our right. The full course measures 7,857 yards from the black tees so I decided to play the yellow tees which were still very challenging. The fifth hole is when I realized this course was one of the toughest out there with
the yellow tees measuring 683 yards!. I just cleared the water and was thankful I didn’t play off the black tees which stretched to an amazing 708 yards. My favorite holes on the front nine were the 7th and 8th. The 7th is a beautiful 443 yard par 4 with water left of the green. The 8th, a 192 yard picturesque par 3 which is highlighted by the huge Ba Na Hills Mountain behind the green.

The sight of the clubhouse over the green all lit up really topped off an amazing 18 holes. The back nine was much more elevating and starts off with a nice short, uphill par four. The 11th is a beautiful dog leg left par 5, followed by the scenic Par 3 12th, which has rolling mountain views. By the time I got to the very sloppy 13th, the lights were on and the visuals got even better. After thinking golf couldn’t get any better I reached the 16th tee and played the best par 3 hole I have ever played. An island green under lights with mountains again outlining the background. I hit 7 iron and just found the green, enjoying two putts for par. The 17th was my second favorite hole as the tee is located a long way up another steep hill. I managed to par this hole -- thinking that maybe the more you are enjoying your golf the better you will play. This theory went out the window when I snapped hooked my ball on the 18th hole. Maybe the nerves built up as the excitement was too much. The sight of the clubhouse over the green all lit up really topped off an amazing 18 holes. Ba Na Hills was one of the best golf days I have ever had. It’s a bit hard to beat an experience of day and night golf with exceptional views. The conditions were perfect and if you’re traveling to Da Nang Viet Nam, make sure you make your way to this remarkable spot at Ba Na Hills Golf Club ●

The charming gallery of Hanoi Art Residence was filled with hundreds of guests right from the opening day of the “Self – Fetish” exhibition. Those who are art lovers, and even famous artists came to enjoy Tran Hai Long’s artworks, and were amazed at the young man’s strange visual art style and new way of thinking. A total of 32 artworks with a variety of materials (from charcoal, acrylic to watercolors, gouache, etc.) are presented with a distinctly creative personality. They form thoughtful and profound artworks which are absolutely mesmerizing to view. Almost all art lovers feel this when they step into such a complicated ontological world, transported into each of Tran Hai Long’s artworks. Each painting, with painful titles like Evolve, SelfPortrait, Untitled, Insecure, Stranded, Scream, etc., was “dissected” and provided a most profound viewing experience -- the deepest thoughts, and critical thinking of life and society in time throughout the multidimensional lens of the young man. The biggest surprise is that all
32 paintings were drawn in a very short period of time when Long was not only racing to complete his portfolio for the chance to study abroad, but also as he prepared for high school graduation. He was so mad for drawing that he even forgot to eat and sleep.

had to study hard everyday of the week instead of just a few days like other students. Hai Long possesses a good ability of acquiring knowledge, and his drive to dig, explore, and collect information helps him get huge data sources. He also has a high level of concentration on the way to reach his goals. At this age, an artist with a distinct style like Long is rare, so I decided to let Long learn how to think before getting into basic lessons, because technique is just a means of expressing thinking” – Tran Hai Long’s teacher, artist Truong Tien Tra, shared at the opening day of the “Self – Fetish” exhibition. In theory, when an artist does not describe real objectives but transfers subjective emotion inspired by surrounding events and things, and distorts or exaggerates the shape with powerful colors, the artwork reaches the concept of expressionism. On another side, when the artist does not observe the subject in a fixed view but divides it into different aspects, and shows planes of intersection without any perspective rule that makes viewers difficult to recognize the depth of the painting, we have an artwork of cubism. Thanks to teacher’s instruction, Hai Long quickly shaped his own blending style of expressionism and cubism with individual marks after only a few months of his speeding for the goal. 66 Leisure & Travel Oct - Nov.2018

"Long has a huge passion and showed his real effort. His paintings have the past, the present and the future appearing altogether. His paintings imply not only a responsible citizen but also an ideology of a creative artist. Long has strength in shaping. A designer who luckily owns this strength will achieve the title “Artist” instead of “Painter”, the strict teacher Truong Tien Tra expressed his satisfaction to his young student. The journey with brushes is a really hard way for Hai Long to find out his ego. As he shared "Only me, alone in front of the canvas. Only me, alone facing with the chaos and constant disturbs in mind. But the loneliness does not scare me. On the contrary, it makes me feel excited. It sounds a bit odd and unbelievable, but I always feel very well, from
the depths inside, that I am growing up, evolving, after every brushstroke.” Long said that he had loved drawing since he was a child; he drew instinctively. But through the years of school, with a busy school calendar, he was forced to abandon his hobby. Only when reaching grade 12, faced with serious career choices, Long realized that he needed to learn and do something "special" in his life. Thanks to his teacher, his first interest had turned into passion. “Becoming a graphic designer is the way I choose”, Long affirmed. On Tran Hai Long’s journey to seek his own ego, “Self – Fetish” is considered as an impressive beginning. Hoping that the heat of his passion will never fade, though the road ahead is very long! ●

Self - Fetish” 전시가 시작된 날부터 그의 독특한 시각을 엿보기 위한 관객들로 전시장은 장사진을 이뤘다. 그 중엔 유명한 예술가들도 꽤 있었다. 이 전시회에는 총 32점의 작품들이 작가의 뚜렷한 개성을 다양한 방식(숯, 아크릴, 수채화, 고무 수채화 등)으로 표현하고 있다. 진화, 자화상, 부제, 불안, 꼬임, 좌절 등과 같은 제목을 붙인 그의 작품들은 젊은 작가의 다차원적 시각에 비춰진 삶과 사회에 대한 심오한 관찰과 비판적 사고의 결과물들이다. 가장 놀라운 것은 이 32 점의 작품들은 오랜 시간에 걸쳐 탄생한 것이 아니라, 그가 해외 유학을 위한 포트폴리오와 고등학교 졸업작품을 준비했던 짧은 기간 동안 그림에 완전히 몰두해 탄생 시킨 결과물들이라는 것이다. 어렸을 때부터 그림에 타고난 재능이 있었던 그에게 빡빡한 일정으로 돌아가며 매일 출석을 해야만 하는 학교 생활이 맞지는 않았었다. 앞으로 그가 자신의 자아를 찾아가는 여정에서 “Self Fetish” 작품 전시는 좋은 출발점이 되어 줄 것이다. 앞으로의 여정이 길고 험난하더라도 그의 그림에 대한 열정은 결코 줄어들지 않을 것이라 믿어 의심치 않는다 ●

Hanoi Art Residence những ngày diễn ra triển lãm “Self - Fetish” đã đón tiếp một lượng đông đảo những người yêu hội họa và cả những họa sĩ đã thành danh. Họ đến để thưởng lãm, để ngạc nhiên trước phong cách tạo hình lạ lẫm và lối tư duy mới mẻ của chàng trai trẻ Trần Hải Long. Tổng cộng 32 tác phẩm, với đa dạng chất liệu (từ chì than, cắt giấy, acrylic đến màu nước, bột màu…) đã phô bày một cá tính sáng tạo riêng biệt, mang đầy chất suy tư, chiêm nghiệm tới mức gây ám ảnh. he stage that won Guinness’ heart is idyllic and breathtakingly harmonious at the foot of Thay Mountain (Sai Son Commune, Quoc Oai District, Hanoi), spreading on a lakeside area of 4,300sqm. The audience is lulled into a dreamlike world of nature and perennial psychological interpretation of the locals through a spectacle called “The Quintessence of Tonkin”. Director of the Show, Hoang Nhat Nam, breathed life into “The Quintessence of Tonkin” with his passionate and unnerving love for the history and culture of Vietnam. From the life story of monk Dao Hanh, the spectacle was developed in 6 parts: “Poetry”, “Buddhism”, “Nostalgia”, “Music & Painting”, “Peace & Harmony” and “Joy & Festival”. “The Quintessence of Tonkin” opens with chirping undertones, echoes of sloshing oars, a fisherman with his torn hat in contemplation… that are all lively and fully portrayed. Without having to go far, the audience can admire the precarious moon hung on the bamboo shades, fishing villagers and maidens in their traditional bodices bailing water at a fictional titular temple, fetching water in the moonlit night, bathing in the lotus pond, mating between lads and lassies, or folk chants while releasing nets, knocking on the deck, or rhythmic chants of labor and diligence…
The show goes on, with groups of actors stepping out, performing with great confidence and inviting the audience into their own sphere of the Rouge River Delta culture, in which peasants work and live with great resilience, in hope of affluence and peace. Given its huge cast of 250 actors in this spectacle, “The Quintessence of Tonkin” employs a great number of farmers in Quoc Oai, Hanoi. They stand onstage, recalling their own ordinary tales, through the prism of peasantry and farm work, including pounding rice, netting and bailing water. They put great trust in the causal karma of life, dutifulness between the teacher and students, and that “people are the quintessence of the soil”, so that talents must be cherished and honored. Love and patriotism are cultured, and permeate every single cell of our heart. This outdoor spectacle “The Quintessence of Tonkin” demonstrates that art is closer to us than we thought, because it dwells in life and imitates life. Fish sauce can be considered as the "soul of Vietnam cuisine", and is an indispensable spice of every Vietnamese family’s meal in every corner of the world. Since its appearance in the 90s, Phu Quoc fish sauce has become one of the most delicious among the domestic market as well as neighboring countries in Southeast Asia.

he secrets behind the rich taste of Phu Quoc fish sauce are from the fresh fish source and the traditional processing know-how. Any fish can be used to make fish sauce, but Phu Quoc fish sauce producers use only anchovies as raw materials. This is because only fresh anchovy can produce highquality fish sauce with high protein and a delicious taste. Anchovy is not available in many parts of the world’s oceans, even in Vietnam. In addition, there are many types of anchovy, but the best type to make fish sauce is the delicious ‘cá Sọc Tiêu’ (Spined anchovy), ‘cá Cơm Đỏ’ (Red Anchovy) and ‘cá cơm than’ (Coal Anchovy). These types are only available in the Gulf of Thailand, and around the pearl island of Phu Quoc. This traditional production of
fish sauce in Phu Quoc has a history of over 200 years. Aside from the fresh source, its unique traditional production method is also what makes Phu Quoc sauce so delicious and different. As soon as anchovies are caught, they are washed with sea water to remove the impurities, and are then freshly mixed with salt onboard with the proportion of 3:1. This method helps to stop the fish meat from decomposing and preserves its high protein content, producing no smell and creating a beautiful sauce when finished. Phu Quoc anchovy is usually marinated with Ba Ria - Vung Tau salt, which has a low content of impurities. The salt is also stored for less than 3 months so that the calcified salts of Calcium and Magnesium which create the acrid flavor in the fish sauce - settle down.
This traditional production of fish sauce in Phu Quoc has a history of over 200 years.
Phu Quoc fish sauce has a very unique color - the natural reddish brown color of the cockroach, which is obtained by marinating fish in their fresh blood and incubating in wooden containers for up to 12 months. With the first-class ingredients and special traditional brewing method, no wonder Phu Quoc fish sauce has been widely used and loved by many people across the country as well as other nations around the world. Originated from the worldfamous “Phở” – Vietnamese rice noodle soup, “Phở Cuốn” is a fresh and tasty dish that has become a part of Hanoi’s cuisine in the last two decades. Pho Cuon is an ideal combination of meat and vegetables, being both fresh and healthy. These filling rolls can be eaten as appetisers before a main or served alongside other Vietnamese dishes sharing-style or family-style.
하노이 스타일의 월남쌈, "PHỞ CUỐN" 말린 쌀종이에 각종 채소를 말아 먹는 것으로 유명한 베트남의 월남쌈은 지역별로 차이가 있다. 쌀국수인 “Phở”가 유명한 하노이는 월남쌈도 쌀국수를 가닥으로 자르기 전의 얇은 익힌 쌀반죽으로 말아 먹는다. 그래서 이름도 말은 쌀국수라는 뜻의 “PHỞ CUỐN”이다. 채소와 고기를 가지런히 말은 이 음식은 주로 에피타이저로 먹고, 함께 식사하는 이들과 나눠 먹는다.
Ingredients: (2 persons) 400g flat rice noodle sheets 400 gr beef, thinly sliced Fresh vegetables: lettuce, coriander, basil, 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped 3 tablespoons fried shallots 1 ginger minced 1/2 tsp pepper 1 carrot, julienned 1 red chili, finely chopped 5 tsp nuoc cham fish sauce 2 tsp lemon juice 2 tsp vegetable oil 1 tsp vinegar
Instructions Marinate beef with salt, pepper, minced garlic and a little of oil to make beef softer. Stir fry beef in a hot wok with a little vegetable oil and finely chopped garlic. Detach a rice sheet and place on a flat surface. Top with some fresh greens and stir-fry beef. Lift up one end and roll it up, gently but tightly. Set the finished roll aside onto a serving plate and repeat until all the mixture has been used. Sprinkle fried shallots on top of the rolls if you want a bit of flavor. To make dipping sauce: in a small pot put water, fish sauce, granulated sugar, and bring it to boil. Then turn off the heat, and put vinegar, minced garlic and minced chili. Taste the sauce again. Christiane Campioni met her husband Tobias 20 years ago in Vietnam, while she was learning traditional lacquer at the University of Fine Arts in Hanoi. She fell in love with the culture of Vietnam when she came here with her parents first time in 1997 and several visits and long term stays until 2003. Husband and wife came back to Vietnam 10 years later only to be inspired by how Vietnam has changed and decided to live here with their children in 2015. The Campioni couple had their first big exhibition at the Goethe Institut, when they moved to Hanoi. They displayed large-scale artworks in a special metal surface technique, adapted by vietnamese lacquer, what becomes their unique trademark.

In her workshop at byCampioni they create and display artworks and accessories like jewelry boxes . Christiane showed us a work-inprogress mesh of “Gac”, a Tet collection involving the seed of the fruit. The seed of “gac” is covered in fresh red pulp of the fruit, creates the color and flavor of “xoi gac” - a traditional dish during Tet holiday. The dark brown seeds of the fruit, in combination with gold and silver, make great sets of earrings and necklaces. The seeds are partly plated with gold or silver leaf and look like dipped into liquid precious metal On a trip to Nhi Khe village, south of Hanoi, Christiane learned the process of making the wooden beads for necklace. But she took interest in the sliced woods and collected the leftovers, turning them into a wide variety of necklaces and rings. This is
her Unity collection, where Christiane combines her signature gold and silver leaf kept in resin and the sliced woods together. “Instead of throwing away, I want to repurpose them instead,” said Campioni. Sound of Summer is Campioni’s most unique collection with a lovely backstory. It was in April, when she heard a crack and tickling sound. “That´s the sound of summer” said her friend. . It was from the falling seeds of a flame tree (cây Phượng đỏ). Christiane picked up the seeds and shells and laced them together, creating special earrings and necklaces out of them. “You can find something beautiful and nice out of the ordinary,” said Campioni, “every little piece has its own beauty.”
Christiane also showed us other collections: The Reviving Coral, which are made from corals near Cu Lao Cham Island of Quang Nam; The Uganda collection, from jacaranda pods on her visit to Uganda. Campioni’s next collection would be made from bamboo, a traditional symbol of Vietnam. ByCampioni resides by the West Lake, filled with flame trees bathed in the sunlight. As I leave the place, I heard the trickling sound - the sound of summer itself. 뭇잎 조각, 씨앗… 그저 스쳐 지나가는 이 평범한 자연의 산물들이 반짝이는 보석이 될 수 있으리라고 그 누가 상상이나 했을까. Christiane Campioni와 그의 남편 Tobias 의 손을 거쳐 고급 액세서리로 재탄생한 자연의 선물들을 만날 수 있는 곳. ByCampioni를 소개한다. Christiane Campioni는 1997년부터 2003년까지 부모님과 함께 베트남에서 살았었는데, 그 당시 그녀는 베트남의 문화에 푹 빠졌고, 하노이 미술대학교에서 전통 라커 미술을 배울 당시 남편을 만났다. 그 후 10년 뒤 베트남으로 돌아왔는데, 베트남의 놀라운 변화를 목격하며 영감을 받아 2015년부터 남편, 아이들과 함께 이곳에 살기로 결심했다. Trong một chuyến đi khám phá các làng nghề ở Việt Nam cùng gia đình, tại làng gỗ Nhị Khê, Christiane đã bắt gặp một cảnh tượng đầy mê hoặc. Dọc theo con đường là hàng núi những mảnh thừa sau quá trình làm hạt gỗ. Những mẩu gỗ nhỏ hình vuông với những lỗ tròn bên trong chất thành đống ở khắp nơi. Đó quả là một phát kiến thú vị. Bị mê hoặc từ những hình dạng và cảm giác khi được chạm vào chất liệu, được bao quanh bởi mùi gỗ thơm hoang dại, sự lặp lại của những hình tròn, hình vuông, nhắc nhở chúng ta về gợi nhắc chúng ta về những quan niệm cổ xưa của người Châu Á, về đất và trời. Bằng cách sử dụng những mảnh gỗ cứng và thô làm thân cho chiếc nhẫn, nó tượng trưng cho mặt Dương. Sau đó, cô thêm vào chút keo epoxy trên mặt nhẫn để đại diện cho mặt Âm, tô điểm thêm với những lá vàng hoặc
bạc (đôi khi cô dùng cả hai) theo phong cách đặc trưng riêng của cô. Với những vụn kim loại lấp lánh rải rác trên nền mặt nhẫn, hay trôi nổi trong lớp phủ resin trong suốt, cô đã thổi bùng lên sức sống trong một kiệt tác mới. Khi bạn nhìn thật kỹ vào những tác phẩm của Christiane, có cảm giác như bạn đang chiêm ngưỡng vẻ đẹp của cả thế giới trong dáng hình nguyên sơ nhất, như thể Mẹ Trái Đất đang thì thầm vào tai bạn vậy. Cùng trí tưởng tượng phong phú, thỉnh thoảng Christiane cũng đùa nghịch với những tạo vật của mình bằng cách thêm vào trong đó những hình người nhỏ bé với những bối cảnh đời sống thường ngày khác nhau. Do mỗi miếng gỗ đều được lựa chọn kỹ càng, và chúng nói nhỏ với Christiane về câu chuyện của mình, nên mỗi tác phẩm đều độc đáo và có chất riêng. Thêm vào đó, tất cả những thành phần kim loại đều được nhập khẩu từ Đức – quê hương của Christiane ●

ựa trên các tiêu chí về môi trường làm việc, chiến lược nhân sự tại mỗi doanh nghiệp, HR Asia đã thực hiện quy trình đánh giá gắt gao qua ba tháng để đánh giá mức độ hài lòng của nhân viên về môi trường làm việc. Từ 130 doanh nghiệp được đề cử, HR Asia đã bình chọn SASCO là một trong 27 doanh nghiệp Việt Nam có môi trường làm việc tốt nhất tại khu vực Châu Á. Là một phần tiêu chí đánh giá của giải thưởng, mỗi doanh nghiệp cần 20% lực lượng lao động tham gia khảo sát để xác định sự hài lòng của cá nhân đối với doanh nghiWệp dựa trên ba yếu tố chính: Tình cảm (Heart), Trí óc (Mind) và Tâm hồn (Soul). Trong đó, các câu hỏi trong bảng khảo sát được các chuyên gia nhân sự hàng đầu Châu Á nghiên cứu theo các nội dung: sự tham gia của nhân viên trong lập kế hoạch và đưa ra quyết định của công ty; văn hóa nơi làm việc; các cơ hội thăng tiến và phát triển. This project has linked the overall breadth of Vietnamese culture, from the Nguyen Dynasty to modern day Vietnam in interacting with nature through the brothers’ visual perception. Through the exhibition, we can see their strong message - “Man is always parallel to nature. We can only interact and integrate with nature, not interfere and force nature”

This was Sungha Jung’s fifth consecutive Vietnam tour. Starting to play the guitar at the age of 10, Sungha Jung was known as a “Korean guitar prodigy” and became very famous, especially on YouTube with over 991 million views and over 3 million subscriber (as counted in April, 2015). Sungha Jung is famous for his guitar fingerstyle playing. This is a genre of solo guitar music in which the artist uses only a single guitar to make the sound of an entire band. Fingerstyle brings about a whole new perspective for the acoustic guitar and is currently drawing the attention of guitar music lovers in Vietnam

Founded by two painters, a poet and a composer from different regions and cultures, the exhibition "Infinity Mirror" is the intersection of painting, literature and music, among artists who have spent time accessing and acquiring a language completely different from their "cultural roots" in Eastern and Western cultures. “Infinity Mirror” penetrates both material and spirit. Interference is not an imposition but a deliberate choice. Thus the concept of "roots" is naturally diverted, giving the artist an extinctive and intuitive vision - the root of all creation. Therefore, in a way, all cultural barriers have been blurred out.
Vietnam Mountain Marathon (VMM) used only by locals were chosen for the marathon routes.
