Can you introduce yourself and your job at Silk Path Grand Resort & Spa Sapa?

My name is Steve Tan, born and raised in Singapore. I have been working in the hospitality industry for more than 30 years. Besides Singapore, I have worked in most Asian cities such as Jakarta - Indonesia, Bangkok - Thailand, Kuala Lumpur Malaysia and Vietnam. I have been appointed as General Manager of Silk Path Grand Resort & Spa Sapa since the pre-opening period. What are the success factors for a resort brand?

In my opinion, success can be determined by three main factors: -Core values are very vital to any brand’s success whether it is international or a domestic home-grown brand. Regardless

of where the hotel or resort may be located, as long as our associates are fully aware of our brand’s core values, and as long as commitment is given with support from the corporate head office, success is infinite. -Unique brand DNA is also important. -Constantly remain innovative and creative. After passing the first month, my perception has totally changed. Not only with an improved traveling time from Hanoi to Sapa (~5-6 hours) by the new highway, but also the average temperature ranging between 19 - 23 deg Celsius. Sapa has attracted a lot of investment in the leisure industry. How do you make Silk Path Grand Resort & Spa Sapa stand out?

Being the very first international 5-star resort in Sapa and being managed by a home-grown brand, i.e. Silk Path Hotels and Resorts. I think that allows Silk Path Grand Resort & Spa Sapa to stand out pretty well amongst others. Besides providing our 5-star standard services, we also develop and create different

experiences for every passing season in Sapa, allowing our guests to enjoy a variety of experiences. Your Vietnamese is very good, is that the way to show your inspiration to Vietnam?

Haha…I am not even sure if my Vietnamese is good. Let just say language is important in providing me an in-depth understanding of Vietnamese culture and tradition. With this knowledge, I can use my greater experiences to help our guests enjoy the hospitality of Vietnam. What is your plan for Silk Path Grand Resort & Spa Sapa in the near future?

fter his first visit in 1997, Phil Hoolihan, a foreigner who has been living in Sapa for 11 years shared that the city back then was nothing but a sleepy village and home to about 3,000 people. However, it is difficult for Hoolihan to recognize Sapa nowadays due to many construction sites from SunGroup and Fansipan cable car. “This has brought tens of thousands of people each weekend and infrastructure is stretched to bursting. Luckily, most of the villages around Sapa still retain a great sense of authenticity and charm. Tourism has brought both positives and negatives. Besides an increase in monthly income,

the locals here have to face the problem of waste disposing. Especially, in most traditional villages, there is no systematic means of collecting, recycling or disposing plastic” - said Hoolihan. His feelings are shared with a lot of people visiting Sapa these days. Sapa of several years ago was quiet, peaceful, and had a very significant poetic beauty of the Northwestern Mountains with cool fresh air. Nowadays, the city is covered by a layer of dust from the construction sites along with muddy roads and trails full of trash on the sides. A series of projects of hotels, resorts, and restaurants consecutively rise up to obscures the green pines. The place has changed significantly

since the completion of the Hanoi Lao Cai highway in 2014. Measures are in need to preserve the primitive beauty of Sapa and to limit pollution here. Mr. James Joseph Kendall - the Founder of Keep Hanoi Clean, said: “There’s much more pollution and littering happening now in Sapa than there was before. In my visit, when walking around the town center, I found loads of trash along the street and garden areas. I shockingly found some hypodermic needles. To improve the situation, we need to raise awareness among people, develop an active clean-up group, place no-littering signs, install more trash cans in public and create a program for businesses to get away from single use items and plastics.” ●

Horse racing tradition in the North West

very June, Bac Ha horse racing festival attracts a large number of locals and foreign tourists to this special cultural and sporting event in the Northwest Highlands. Throughout its long history, this event featuring many well-dressed horse riders is traditionally held at Hoang A Tuong mansion. After the starterâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s signal, riders and horses accelerate and gallop across the fields and hills. When reaching the shooting station, the riders quickly jump off and take five shots at the target, and then hop back on the horse and return to the starting point. The one who completes the round first with the most hits will be crowned the winner.

Due to the war, this event was on hold for many years. It finally came back in 2007 and has been celebrated once a year until now. Even though the shooting session have been included, the event still remains focused on its charm and local culture.

The features of Bac Ha horse racing festival

Bac Ha horse racing festival aims to preserve the traditions of the highland’s culture and is not for professional participants. The horse riders are normally farmers and the horses are selected from the daily pack horses. In order to be chosen, the racing horses must be meticulously selected. A good quality horse has to be a male, large stature, large chest, straight and long hooves, fit stomach, good eyesight, smooth hair, etc. Horses from 4-7 years are the most suitable. The special fact about Bac Ha horse racing festival is that saddles are not allowed during the whole competition. There is only a piece of rectangular cloth covering the horse’s back, and riders have to control their horses with a braided rope hooked to the horse’s jaw. 40 Leisure & Travel June.2018

The riders cannot whip their horses but have to control the reins instead. In order to keep balanced, the rider must know how to sit right in the concave area near the horse’s shoulders, have his legs firmly tight to its abdomen and move up and down according the rhythm of his horse. In the case that rider loses his balance and falls, he must know how to fall properly in order to avoid a serious injury. This event is an opportunity for participants to show their bravery, skills, and agility. The contestants are mainly from the Hmong, Tay and Nung minority groups in the North West region. Some particular families are wellknown for their skillful experience. For instance, the Sung family has the most competitive players. Mr. Sung Seo Dung and his sons always win the tickets to go into the inner round. The Vang family is popular for their strong and durable horses. They have been in the 1st place for many years. Besides, Na Hoi and Ta Van Chu communes (Su Man Khang province) are the home of the toughest horses as well. If you have a chance, watch the festival live to feel the spirit, passion and intensity! ●

매년 6 월이 되면 Bac Ha 경마 축제를 구경하는 많은 국내외 관광객을 끌어들이다. 이것은 Tay Bac 의 특별한 문화 및 스포츠 행사이다. 과거의 전통을 계승하여 Bac Ha 경마 축제는 Hoang A Tuong 별장 마당에서 시청자를 끌어들이다. 소년들은 모두 차려 입었다. 벌브혼이 울린 후에, 말에 십자가 모양은 들판과 언덕을 건넜다. 목적지 근처에서 그들은 빠르게 땅에 뛰어 올라 과녁을 5 발을 목표로 한 다음 빨간 공을 털고 말을 타고 출발점으로 뛰어 온다. 어떤 기수가 더 빨리, 더 많은 목표물을 쏴면 승자가 될 것이다. 전쟁 때에 경마 축제는 수년간 중단되었다. 2007 년부터 Bac Ha 의 전통 경마 축제가 복원되어 매년 계속 개최된다. 이 축제는 더 이상 부분 촬영이 아니지만 여전히 매력적이고 극적인 것이다.

Bac Ha 경마 축제의 특색 민족 고원을 보존하는 자연의 축제로서 Bac Ha 경마는 프로 운동 선수와 말의 놀이터가 아니다. 경연 대회에 참가한 말들은 정기적으로 가축을 기르기 위해 경작하는 농부들에 의해 길러졌으며, 말들은 인종들에게 경주를 하곤했다. 경마에 참가하려면 말을 신중하게 선택해야 한다. 좋은 말은 남성 말, 키가 큰 몸, 긴 직선 및 곧은 가슴, 구부러진 가슴, 밝은 눈, 좋은 눈, 부드러운 머리, 두꺼운 못이어야 합니다. 경마말은 4 세에서 7 세 사이가 가장 적합한다. Bac Ha 경마 축제의 특별한 장소는 포탑이 없는 승마 말이며 발을 유지할 페달이 없다. 직사각형의 린넨이 말의 뒤를 감싸고 있었고, 매듭은 말의 턱 양쪽에 있는 현에 2 개의 갈고리가 붙어 있는 꼰 끈이었다. 말은 채찍 말을 사용하지 않지만 두 손은 고삐를 잡고 제어한다. 그의 균형을 유지하기를 원하는 라이더는 말의 어깨 근처의 오른쪽 콧 구멍, 말의 복부에 단단히 고정 된 다리, 말의 리듬을 위아래로 올라가는 법을

알아야 한다. 불행히도 말의 균형이 깨지면 상처를 입지 않아야 한다. 경마는 용감성, 선수의 기술과 민첩성에 도전 할 수있는 곳이다. Bac Ha 경마 축제에 참가한 경마 기수들이 Tay Bac지역의 Mong, Tay, Nung 소수민족 사람이다. Bac Ha의 많은 가족들은 숙련되고 용맹한 “맨발” 기사로 유명하다. Mong 민족인 Sung씨 일가는 매년 축제에 참여하고 Sung Seo Dung할아버지와 아들은 본선에 나가 서로 경쟁자가 되었다. Tay미족인 Vang 씨 일가는 Vang Van Huynh씨, Vang Van Quyet씨 같은 훌륭한 경마 기수가 있다. 지난 수년에 Vang사촌은 전통적인 경마 우승을 가지고 돌아서 교대했다. Bac Ha현의 Na Hoi읍과 Ta Van Chu (Su Man Khang촌) 읍은 백고원의 경마 기수가 많고 경마말이 좋은 것으로 유명하다. 아무도 트랙에서의 기병의 어려움과 용기와 경주의 카리스마를 보기 위해 경마를 직접 볼 수는 없다. 전체 경기장은 수천 명의 관중들로부터 쾌활한 환호로 가득 차 있었다. ● June.2018 Leisure & Travel 41

On June 1, a new highway connecting capital city Hanoi and UNESCO World Heritage site Halong Bay will open, cutting the four-hour drive time between the popular northern destinations in half. “This is a game-changer,” said Nguyen Cao Son, chief operating officer of Paradise Cruises, the bay’s leading luxury cruise provider. “The fact is, not every traveler has the ability to fit an overnight trip to Halong Bay into their schedule. And those that choose to, typically do so at the expense of visiting another beautiful city in Vietnam. But with the introduction of this new highway, tourists can now maximize their time and enjoy a lot more.” The VND 13 trillion (USD 572 million) highway is one of two major transport projects scheduled to finish soon in Quang Ninh Province. A new international airport just east of Halong City is also expected to debut in the second quarter. The impending milestones come on the verge of a breakout year for Quang Ninh. As the official location of Vietnam National Tourism Year 2018, the province is slated to host more than 50 cultural, sports and tourism events this year and welcome as many as 12 million visitors. It takes an hour to fly from Manila to Boracay. Looking down from the plane, it's easy to see that the island of Boracay is covered by a green carpet of trees, is bordered by a turquoise colored sea, and has pure white sand that is as smooth as silk and embraces the entire island.

The most famous beach in Boracay is "White Beach" - a logically descriptive name of this famous place, because the sand here is extremely white and smooth. You may be overwhelmed and feel as though a stunning postcard has suddenly appeared live in front of your eyes. It's possible that no other beach can give this much emotion: exotic blue water, with a pack of stone with coconut trees just rising up on the edge of the shore. The only regret was the pack of green algae on the beach preventing people from swimming and taking a dip in the water. Fairways & Bluewater Newcoast Boracay is the only golf course on Boracay Island. The 18-hole championship

golf course, designed by golf champion Graham Marsh has served as a venue of international tournaments. The 6,524 yard golf course consists of two differing parts, the front 9 holes located within the resort while back 9 holes up in the mountain overlooking the ocean. The view from the top of the mountain is magnificent, as the design does well to keep the integrity of the natural beauty and ecosystem of the land. At every corner of the course, you can see a stork flying, hear birds singing and see flowers blooming everywhere. A big surprise for us was that the caddies were not allowed to get in the buggy but had to walk. As a result we had to play without caddy for some holes as they walked far behind us. Nothing is better than closing a round of golf with a glass of cold beer, sitting in the resort’s Sky Bar, admiring the 4 seasons pool scene looking over the ocean. A dinner in a Spanish restaurant near the beach with plentiful dishes, especially the grilled pig, and the beautiful music of the Philippine band.

Getting down to business

How many golf courses is enough for Vietnam?

I think about 100 golf courses. You will be able to tell by the supply and demand. Like with Danang golf course, we needed a second one. It is a big tourism market, so some places in Viet Nam will need more courses and some less.

During the opening of a new golf course at BRG Danang Golf Resort in April 2018, VGM enjoyed an exclusive chat with Mr. Paul Stringer – Executive Vice President of Nicklaus Design Company – who delivered some interesting insights into the golf business. What is special about the bulkheads?

In Asia, it’s not used much to separate water from the turf areas and the turf areas were much higher than the water. Therefore, we raised everything up and added bulkheads as a divider. Some people use rock, but the bulkheads were all wood imported from the US. Were there any difficulties building the golf course?

Actually the golf course went really well. We started in June and finished last month. It went

very quickly, even though it was the rainy season, because we had proper construction and everybody worked very hard on getting the golf course done. What is your assessment of golf’s development in Vietnam?

It’s a growing market. There are many new courses, which is great for Vietnam. And there are many young players starting to come and play, which means more driving ranges and junior golf. I think the future for Vietnam will be very bright.

About Nicklaus Design We have designed 415 golf courses open for play in 45 countries worldwide including over 105 golf courses in Asia. We have another 50 under plans or construction. We have 153 Nicklaus Design golf courses that have staged over 1,029 Tour events. This includes 4 PGA Tour majors, 4 Ryder Cups, 2 President Cups, 3 Solheim Cups (LPGA equivalent). This is more than any of our competitors. One of the President’s Cups was held in Asia at The Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea, which was the first ever in Asia.

You appear to be very active in Vietnam?

Nicklaus Design has opened five golf courses in Vietnam and we will probably get to 20 golf courses in the near future. We are fortunate enough to have a strategic partner in BRG who has the vision of how to develop golf courses to complement its residential and hotel developments. We are very proud of our relationship with BRG and the quality of golf courses we design for it. Do you have any future projects in Vietnam?

We will do another course with BRG Group, the second course at Ruby Tree in Haiphong and another course with BRG Group in Ha Nam. So right now we are doing plans for both, but construction has not started.

Is Vietnam a special place for you?

I like Vietnam very much. The history and culture of Vietnam is fascinating and the food is terrific. I find the people very friendly and supportive. The country has many young people who see the positive growth and direction of the country, are very entrepreneurial and are driven to create a country and lifestyle that continues to rise amongst other Asian countries. Where in Vietnam do you see more golf courses being developed in the future?

Danang will truly become a big golf destination and tourism market. There will be more golf courses developed in or near Danang, Hoi An, Hue, and up and down Vietnam’s coastline. The coastline is beautiful and dramatic. Golf tourism doesn’t just involve playing, as golfers and tourists want a great experience with nice hotels, great food, service and learning more about Vietnam’s culture. I believe Ho Chi Minh City is in very short supply of really good golf courses and hopefully more will be developed in the very near future. I am also hopeful that more courses will be developed in Phu Quoc ●

I think we should join and even we must join because AGTC is a good opportunity to meet with those who buy golf. It is very specialvv to sit down with people from England, from South Africa, Poland, Russia,... very rare to have that chance. I think it is great value for the destination.

I have joined AGTC for 5 years. It is good opportunity for golf tour operators and golf service suppliers to meet with each other and networking. At least once a year, we can sit down together to talk about business and future plan. AGTC is like a big family.

✒ What inspired you to become a world fashion show producer?

f you invest your time and effort into something, you might as well do it properly. I’ve been organizing grand events since as long as I can remember, and to be able to combine it with my passion for fashion is a real treat. A fashion show to me is a stage to combine art, architecture, culture, fashion, and technology while inspiring a young generation of multi-talented and creative women to make a difference. I found my unique competitive advantage, and I worked hard to not only maintain the standard, but continuously evolve and redefine it. As mentioned, turning the world’s most iconic venues into a catwalk is my reality; my dream is to never stop.

✒ What is your background? Can you tell us about your first show?

I was born in Hanoi, Vietnam, grew up in Moscow, Russia, and received my Bachelor’s degree in IT in Malaysia and my Master degree in Marketing Communications in England. I opened my fashion agency just a month after graduation and started producing shows immediately. My first ever history-making catwalk was on the iconic London’s Tower Bridge. Up until today, I find it a defining moment for my career as that was when 84 Leisure & Travel June.2018

The challenge was obvious in terms of technical difficulties and the high pressure from the industry, but I didn’t mind it, in fact, I actually loved it. ✒ What do you think about fashion design and shows in Vietnam? What should they learn from overseas fashion industry?

I’ve noticed that fashion designers in Vietnam have become a lot more innovative, daring, and skillful over the past 5 years. Locally, they seem to have successfully catered fashion for Vietnamese new generation of style followers at realizable costs. I think the key to improve and match up with the global fashion is to stay informed of the latest development in the industry, keep a professional and high standard of quality and operation, and come up with truly unique products. ✒ What is your plan for 2019 and further?

I will for sure continue producing iconic catwalks at very selective locations. At the same time, I will produce an unscripted TV show on an American TV network broadcast globally, and launch a series of fashion and beauty products. I am currently working with an Emmy award winning producer and some top professionals in Hollywood to ensure the quality of my upcoming rollout. ✒ Do you think about making a show in a World Heritage site in Vietnam (like Halong Bay or Son Doong Cave)?

Vietnam has always been in my mind and I certainly plan to do a show in my beautiful country. I just want to make sure it’ll be at the right place, with an impressive concept, and at the right time to not only give Vietnamese audience a real buzz but also successfully promote Vietnam on a global stage ●

Water Puppetry Show located in the middle of a pond, with a closed, floating chamber of bamboo with a hanging bamboo screen in the front. The puppeteers stand behind a screen, waist-deep in the water to manipulate the puppets. In the front of the screen is a square low-fence water stage where the puppets perform. The space for audiences is often on the edge of pond on both sides of the stage, or beneath the trees around the pond. The main music used in a water puppetry performance is music of Cheo which is a traditional art specific to the Northern plain. In addition to instrumentalists, there are Cheo singers. Music, songs,

and words in combination with movements of puppets, helping the audiences to understand the plays. The aim is to introduce the cultural values, customs, and festivals through national characters of the Red River delta. The musical instruments used in this water puppetry art are: drum, two-stringed fiddle, flute, drum kit, 16-chord zither or monochord. Additionally, many kinds of firecrackers are also used such as crackers, fireworks, powder-filled paper strings, and duck-shape firecrackers to make the performance more attractive. hen lotus flower season hits in June, the West Lake area becomes awash with the blooms, you can see them on the bicycle of all the flowers vendors… Lotus holds particular significance in Vietnam, where they are considered one of four graceful plants, along with pine, bamboo and chrysanthemum. They are a symbol of purity, beauty, grace, knowledge, serenity… anything positive really.

Lotus flowers are sold very cheap at around 30,000 VND a bunch, but they die very soon after the bloom.

There are some large ponds around the banks of West Lake filled with lotus flowers. If you take a bike ride around the lake in the morning you should not miss them.

Not only having a beautiful look and wonderful fragrance, lotus flowers have many uses: young stems are used in salads, stamens can be dried and made into a herbal tea, seeds can be made very tasty sweet soup.

월이 되면 서호 지역은 연꽃의 향으로 그윽해진다. 소나무, 대나무, 국화와 함께 4대 아름다움으로 꼽히는 연꽃은 베트남에서 특별한 의미를 가진다. 순결, 아름다움, 은혜, 지식, 평온의 상징이다. 모두 긍정적인 의미이다. 연못 가득히 연꽃이 풍성하게 피어나는 계절에는 아침 산책길에 꼭 이 연못을 놓치지 말기를. 내다 팔기 위해 이른 새벽부터 보트를 밀어내는 노인의 모습, 사진 촬영을 위해 아오자이(ao dai)를 차려 입은 여인의 모습이 새롭다. 이 계절에는 거리 곳곳에서 연꽃 봉우리를 한 움큼 파는 것을 볼 수 있다. 베 Greens of Vietnam Vegetables and herbs play an important role in Vietnamese cuisine; either for a traditional or a fusion dish. By Dinh Huong

Vietnamese meal will not be complete if lacking the element of vegetable, which is used in almost every dish including soup, salad, stir fried with meat or by itself. Depending on the different regions of Vietnam, vegetables are processed differently. Herbs such as scallion, cilantro, hyssop, basil, etc., and spices including chili, garlic, onion, ginger, crocus, galangal, star fruit, fig, green banana, etc. are the essential components for dishes such as salads, rolls, dumplings, or noodle soups like “pho” or hot pot, etc. These herbs and spices are sometimes used as traditional medications for the purpose of detoxing and antioxidant.

We can see how significant veggies can be in “Pho”. An authentic bowl of “pho” is a sophisticated amalgamation of the five different flavors including sweetness from the soup’s broth, spiciness from ginger or chili, sourness from lemon, light aroma from onions and the strong scent from various types of herb. Another example is the Mekong Delta style hot pot. This particular dish is based mostly on vegetables, herbs and spices such as ong choy, water spinach, gooseberry, okra, garlic chive, etc. Each region has their own rules and traditions in using vegetables and herbs. It would be great to take a road trip from North to South in Vietnam to experience the interesting differences ●

Ingredients / 재료 및 조리 방법 Meat / 고기 갈기: Put grounded pork, chopped shallot, garlic, pepper, fish sauce, two egg yolks, mushroom, and cut vermicelli into a bowl and start mixing. 다진양파, 다진마늘, 후추, 생선소스, 계란노른자와 고기를 잘 섞는다

Bitter melon / 여주: Wash and slit along the body, remove the seeds, and start stuffing the mixed pork. You may want to use a folk or a spoon to stuff. Use a string of scallion to tie across the melon to prevent the meat from falling out. 여주를 깨끗하게 씻고, 씨앗을 제거한 뒤 갈은 고기를 안에 채운다. 고기가 빠져나오지 않게 부추로 감아줘도 된다.

Cooking / 조리 Put the stuffed melons into the water and boil for 20 mins on low heat. You can add more pepper and cilantro when serving to intensify the aroma. 속을 채운 여주를 물에 넣고 약불에서 20분 동안 끓인다. 후추나 고수와 함께 상에 낸다.

The historical region

ong Bien Bridge is an iconic symbol of Hanoi that has survived for more than 2 centuries. In 1900, an 800m stone bridge was built over the Phung Hung Street, on the foundation of the East wall, which had been demolished several years back, to carry the railroad leading to Long Bien Bridge. This massive stone bridge includes 5 spans and 127 arches; on top of the still-living-neighborhood. Before its restoration in October, 1954, the empty arc spaces underneath the bridge were home to the homeless, as well as a bomb shelter. However, during the 70s and 80s, due to security problems, the authority decided to fill the spaces to ensure the sustainability of the bridge and the safety of the railroad. At first, Phung Hung Street was a sparse area. Up until 20-30 years later, the street was renovated and became quite charming, attracting more people to come and reside. The new residents were mostly foreigners like the upper-class French and Chinese, Indian merchants, or Vietnamese traders. Nowadays, this historical street is nothing more than a brick wall, a

dumpster, and a street market site that has gradually fallen into oblivion.

The Phung Hung frescos

In order to revive the memories of “ancient Hanoi”, the stone bridge over the Phung Hung Street has been innovated and transformed into an outdoor art exhibition. Each arch has become a painting portraying the city life of Hanoi now and then, from a food vendor lady, an old man on bicycle to traditional performances and arts. The street is now a new cultural zone for city dwellers and visitors. This project belongs to a program that brings art into living space. The effort is organized by UN-Habitat coordinated with the Korea Foundation and Hoan Kiem District People's Committee. Executed by a group of Vietnamese and South Korean artists, this meaningful project does not only help to preserve the 1000-year-old culture of the capital, but also strengthens the relationship between the two nations of Vietnam and South Korea. After 3 months of execution the street was finally opened on February 3rd, right before the Lunar New Year. When the desired item does not have a price tag, foreigners can generally be expected to be overcharged. For those new to the Vietnam shopping experience, it would be beneficial for the shopper to hone their bargaining skills in preparation for their isit. By Le Thuy Chi

1 Walk away / 나가기 Tell the seller the price you are willing to pay. If they don’t agree, walk away. They will call you back to negotiate if they are really overcharging. 원하는 가격을 제시하십시오. 거절 당하면 과감하게 떠나십시오. 할인을 원한다면 판매자가 협상을 위해 당신을 다시 부를 것 입니다. 2 Pretend not to like it / 싫어하는 척해라 Do not show your excitement when going shopping. Ask questions to show your concerns, even focus on the negatives of the product. 시장 가격 파악 Try to learn the market price of the product/ service by observing or asking local people. Knowing the standard price, you would know how much to bargain and pay. 현지인을 관찰하거나 질문함으로써 온라인으로 제품 / 서비스의 시장 가격을 찾으십시오. 그러면 얼마를 지불해야하는지 알게 될 것입니다.

4 Speak the local language / 현지 언어로 말하기 Speaking local language fluently helps a lot with bargaining. The seller would think you have lived in Vietnam for a long time and would likely to give you the original price or a close one to it. 현지 언어를 사용하면 협상에 많은 도움이됩니다. 영업 사원은 귀하가 베트남 거주자이며 저렴한 가격에 동의 할 것이라고 생각합니다.

5 Go to different sellers for price reference / 여러 장소의 가격 참조

You should go to different sellers asking the price of a particular item before making a decision. With this, you would know where the lowest price is, and how much you can bargain. Normally you can start with a discount of 40% off and work your way up to 10%. Of course it depends on each situation. Some people would just give you the real price right away. If you continue bargaining, the sellers will be offended. In this case, you have to read their body language or facial expression to identify the situation yourself. That’s it!
