ANTIQUES ON THE SQUARE

Story and photos by Emil Knodell, Antiques on the Square

Antiques On The Square is an antiques show that occurs twice yearly in the picturesque Texas town of Fayetteville. The event happens in the Spring and Fall as part of the Round Top Antiques Event, which attracts tens of thousands of visitors from around the world.

Focusing on authentic Americana primitives, Antiques On The Square is an “early” show on the Round Top Event roster, opening approximately a week before other major Round Top shows. It is an excellent event for early bird shoppers, collectors and antiques dealers seeking to add unique items to their inventory.

In addition to Americana primitives, Antiques On The Square features a wide array of authentic antiques, furniture and smalls, farmhouse and ranch furnishings, fine art, folk art, midcentury modern, industrial, garden decor, plants and more. A highlight of Antiques On The Square is a live no-reserve auction on the closing evening of every show. Featuring complementary food and drink, the auction provides an evening of fun and excitement as shoppers and dealers alike gather to swap tales of treasures found and bid on tons of great items at often bargain prices. Antiques On The Square is held at the Old Firehouse on the town square, which features the original wood Precinct Courthouse built in the 1890s complete with two jail cells upstairs.

A walking tour of Fayetteville also is a lot of fun. Due to the number of lovely vintage homes in Fayetteville, the entire town is on the National Register of Historic Places.
