‘Ons moet deel met mekaar’ Astro:
Die Hoërskool Swartland op Malmesbury se astro-baanprojek vorder fluks en die siviele werke van die Swartland Munisipaliteit is nou amptelik afgehandel. Agter is Johan Venter (Swartland Munisipaliteit), Jacques Snyders (SKCM Engineers), Dirk Marais (skoolhoof) en George Sabbagha (oud-onderwyser en hokkie-afrigter). Voor is Herman de Jager (Wezan) en Freek Stander (Hoërskool Swartland).
Gesellig:
Graham Willers, Adi Badenhorst en Pieter Stoffberg. Landbouers moet erns maak met studiegroepe, het Koot Claassen, voorsitter van die Malmesbury Landbouvereniging verlede week by die jaarvergadering van die Wingerdstudiegroep gesê. “Dit gee boere die geleentheid om in te skakel in die bedryf waarmee hy hom elke dag besig hou. ‘n Studiegroep is suiwer daar om die betrokke bedryf na te vors, volhoubaar te maak. “Die doel is om u kennis te verbreed, sodat u ‘n leidende rol kan speel in die bedryf,” het hy gesê en bygevoeg: “Landbou is nie ‘n toeboekbesigheid nie. Ons moet deel met mekaar.” Hy het boere ook bemoedig: “Moet jou nie bekommer oor kwessies soos grondhervorming nie. Gaan voort. Met passie sal jy kán voortgaan. Die spreker was Adi Badenhorst, wynmaker en betrokke by Swartland Independent en Swartland Revolution. Hy het met nostalgie en passie vertel van Swartland Independent: ‘n groep kleiner Swartland kelders wat die storie van die Swartland en wyn wil vertel. “Kyk na Europa – hulle vertel die storie van wyn oor 1300 jaar. Dit sluit die mens en grond in,” verduidelik hy. “Hier fokus ons te veel op klimaat, ons skei die mens van die grond. Ek is oortuig daarvan
dat jy die mens in die wyne kan proe.” Hy het ook vertel van die Swartland Revolution, wat vyf jaar gelede begin is en verduidelik dat dit glad nie oor Swartland-wyne gaan nie. “Ons wou kyk na die beste wyne in die wêreld wat wynmakers inspireer.” Die gedagte was om so 400, 500 mense die geleentheid te gee om oor twee dae ongelooflike wyne te proe. Dit was in 2010. In 2011 was die kaartjies binne ses weke uitverkoop. “Vanjaar is alles binne twee minute uit en ons het 190 mense op ‘n waglys.” Badenhorst is duidelik trots en lief vir die Swartland: “Ek praat uit die oogpunt van iemand wat elke dag die Swartland bemark. Mense soek oorspronklikheid, hulle soek die storie agter die wyn – en waar beter as hier om dit te doen. “Ek bly positief oor ons land en die Swartland. Geen ander streek kry soveel publisiteit as die Swartland nie.” • Die nuwe bestuur van die studiegroep is: Pieter Stoffberg, Graham Willers, Thys Basson, Willem Bester, DB Rust, Tobie Basson, Henk Geyser, Liam Viljoen, Barry Dürr, Hennie Rossouw, Johan Kellerman, Jaco Basson, Gawie Lambrechts, Mike Bester en Konnie Bestbier.

Riebeek United het Saterdag op Malmesbury teen Die Dorings gespeel. Riebeek United het die wedstryd goed begin deur die bal te behou en met goeie samespel het Janquin Kriel ‘n goeie drie gedruk. Riebeek het baie geleendhede laat glip deur hanteerfoute, maar was nogtans 17-9 voor met rustyd. Indie tweede helfde het Riebeek aangehou storm, en soos ‘n eenheid begin speel. Reinhardt Lameyer het weer eens voor gevat en ‘n pragdrie gedruk. Riebeek United het die wedstryd met 43-15 gewen. Riebeek United se tweede span het ook geseëvier met 40-0.
