Welcome to the July/August Edition Diamond Magazine. As I’m writing we are all melting in the heat of Summer I’m not complaining though, when I see the extreme heat in Spain and Portugal tipping 46 degrees! All of a sudden, in comparison our 31 degrees seems rather chilly!
Last month at our AGM, I announced a recent and very exciting development born of the work we are doing as part of our merger with GDi, in establishing an All-Party Political Group to focus on the Gatwick Diamond and the leading business sectors in our region. With the ambition of extending our voice and garnering support from Westminster, the APPG is a real opportunity to put the Gatwick Diamond firmly on the political map
Also at our AGM, we were privileged to have Cllr Paul Marshall, Leader of West Sussex County Council as our keynote speaker, giving us an update on the Government’s Devolution Priority Programme and Local Government Reorganisation, focusing on the implications for the West Sussex economy. We welcomed some new and exciting additions to the gdb Council who you can see along with our previously Elected Council Members on our website, with the addition of our co-opted members coming soon We are incredibly fortunate to have their support and the wealth of experience and knowledge they bring to benefit gdb and gdb members
Our Front cover of this edition showcases our friends at Fastsigns who have just celebrated their 30 anniversary. Harriet and I had the pleasure of attending their birthday celebrations recently where the number of guests joining them to celebrate, paid testament to the amount of hard work they have put in to building their business and engaging with the local community.
On page 4, our Member Spotlight shines on Helen Pomery, Director of the beautiful Tottington Manor & TERRA Restaurant Located in the South Downs National Park - with great food, great service and beautiful views, if you haven’t been yet it’s certainly worth a visit!
A big thank you goes to award winning Chess Dynamics for their sponsorship of this edition. Take a look at pages 16 & 17 to read about the values that have helped them grow from a niche supplier into a trusted name in global defence circles
And talking of Award winners, a gdb member and supporter for almost 20 years was awarded an MBE in His Majesty, The King's 2025 Birthday Honours List for achievements and services to Business and to Charity Our huge congratulations go to Matt Turner MBE, CEO & Founder of Creative Pod. Read about Matt’s experience on page 25
A final word of thanks to the incredible gdb Team who have really stepped up again over the past few weeks as we bid a fond farewell to Ciaran following the completion of his Apprenticeship at the end of last year, and we focus on recruiting for team member number 6
Our thanks as always to all of you who have contributed your news, inspiring stories and advice to this edition.
Happy reading and I wish you all a wonderful Summer!

The digital industry never stands still and the last couple of months have been no exception From shifting regulations to game-changing AI developments, UK businesses are navigating a rapidly evolving tech ecosystem Here are the standout headlines that have been on our minds the last couple of months that every business owner should have on their radar
The UK government has taken a firmer step towards regulating artificial
intelligence with the release of its AI Regulation White Paper: Update Paper in May The update outlines plans to empower existing regulators, such as the ICO and CMA, to apply AI principles within their sectors, rather than creating a new, centralised AI watchdog Businesses should begin preparing for increased scrutiny around transparency, data handling and algorithmic fairness
TikTok Shop has seen explosive growth in the UK, particularly among younger consumers Over 10,000 UK businesses are now using the platform to sell products directly through shoppable videos and livestreams However, concerns persist around product quality and consumer protection The CMA has announced it is keeping a close eye on the platform amid fears it could mislead users or host counterfeit products.
UK Introduces Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act The long-anticipated Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act became law in May, aiming to curb the power of tech giants like Google, Meta and Amazon The legislation introduces new rules for "strategic market status" firms and gives the CMA more power to impose fines for unfair practices SMEs stand to benefit from a more level digital playing field and increased protections online
The pace of digital change isn’t slowing down, it’s accelerating From emerging AI oversight to shifts in online commerce and competition law, the message is clear: adapt or get left behind For UK businesses, now is the time to lean in, stay curious and embrace innovation. The businesses that thrive won’t just keep up with the digital tide, they’ll ride the wave

The UK’s Inheritance Tax (IHT) regime is set for major reform following the Autumn Budget 2024 Although currently only around 4% of estates are subject to IHT, this is expected to rise by 50%, with over 37,000 estates affected by 2027
What’s Changing?
IHT applies to the value of an estate at death, including property, possessions, and certain gifts made within seven years prior The first £325,000 (the "nil rate band") is exempt, with the remainder typically taxed at 40% From April 2026, key reliefs will be scaled back, drawing more estates into the tax net, alongside potentially affecting business succession
1. Business & Agricultural Property Reliefs
Currently, Business Property Relief (BPR) and Agricultural Property Relief (APR) can offer up to 100% exemption From April 2026, relief bbb
will be capped at 50% above set thresholds, effectively introducing a 20% tax on the excess value
2. Pensions
From April 2027, unused pension funds will be included in IHT calculations, potentially incurring a 40% tax Individuals should seek a holistic review of their wills, tax and estate planning urgently.
3. AIM Shares & Trusts
Relief for shares on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) will be limited to 50% and excluded from the new £1 million cap Trusts created after 30 October 2024 by the same person will share this cap, limiting their IHT efficiency
Act
These changes mark a clear tightening of IHT rules Businesses and families with significant assets should review their position now.
Irwin Mitchell LLP’s Private Client Advisory tax team has published a detailed report on the upcoming reforms Access it here: https://bit ly/3FDjOae There is an opportunity to put planning in place to mitigate the effect of the changes with expert advice
For advice, contact Lucy Erdman-Samy at Irwin Mitchell LLP, Lucy.ErdmanSamy@irwinmitchell com

With the recent changes in corporation tax, many business owners are searching for new ways to maximise their tax efficiency
Business leasing has emerged as a popular option, offering a practical and financially savvy solution.
By leasing vehicles through the business, owners can potentially claim part or even 100% of the monthly payments against their taxable profit, depending on the vehicle's emissions and model This ability to offset costs has become particularly attractive, especially with
the rising expenses associated with vehicle ownership.
Many of our clients have expressed concern and dismay over these tax changes However, leasing has provided a flexible alternative that can also help modernise a fleet without the large upfront costs associated with purchasing vehicles outright Whether it’s electric, hybrid, or commercial vehicles, leasing enables businesses to stay up to date with the latest models and technologies while keeping cash flow under control
Furthermore, leasing agreements often include maintenance packages, reducing unexpected costs and ensuring vehicles remain in top condition For businesses that need reliable and efficient transport, this is a significant advantage
In short, the shift towards business leasing is not just a response to tax changes but a strategic move that aligns with the evolving needs of businesses It allows companies to remain agile, cost-effective, and environmentally conscious in an everchanging marketplace For business owners grappling with tax changes, leasing could be the smart solution they’ve been looking for
Our team can provide tailored advice and walk you through your options, ensuring you find the perfect leasing solution to meet your needs. Get in touch today to see how business leasing could work for you

You’ve worked hard to build a great customer experience - but what if prospects never get far enough to see it?
That’s the reality for many businesses A huge part of the customer journey is often neglected: the prospect experience - the bit that happens before someone becomes a customer
People form opinions fast. They’re not just judging your servicesthey’re assessing whether they trust you, feel heard, and believe you’ll deliver And that all happens during the very first enquiry
At insight6, we mystery shop the prospect experience across sectorsfrom legal firms to schools, visitor attractions to retailers One law firm believed they were replying to web enquiries “within the hour ” The truth? Their average response time was over 4 days
And it’s not just about speed. It’s about tone Helpfulness Personalisation Ease of interaction Every moment sends a message - and if those messages don’t align with bb
your values, prospects won’t stick around
5 Prospect Experience Pitfalls to Avoid:
1 Delayed Responses – Waiting hours (or days) to reply sends the wrong signal.
2.Generic Replies – A templated email without warmth kills the conversation
3 No Follow-Up – Failing to check in misses the chance to convert interest into action
4.Inconsistent Handling – Different teams responding in different ways confuses prospects
5 No Ownership – When it’s “nobody’s job,” it quickly becomes nobody’s priority What Can You Do?
Test it – Enquire as if you were a customer What’s the experience like?
Measure it – Use mystery enquiries to identify gaps

Own it – Make the prospect experience someone’s responsibility

When people think about defence companies, they often picture global giants with thousands of employees But some of the most important work is done by smaller British firms like Chess Dynamics, a local business making a big impact.
Headquartered in Horsham, Chess Dynamics designs and builds advanced camera and tracking systems that help protect armed forces and critical infrastructure Whether it is helping naval ships keep watch at sea or detecting drones on a battlefield, their technology helps keep people safe quietly and effectively
What Does Chess Dynamics Do?
Chess Dynamics creates high-tech camera systems, sensors, and software that can spot, track, and follow fast-moving objects such as drones, vehicles, or boats even in challenging conditions like fog, darkness, or cluttered environments.
These systems are often used by:
The British Army to detect threats on the ground
The Royal Navy to monitor surrounding waters and control weapon systems
Overseas allies who need reliable surveillance for defence and security
Their technology is used on both land and sea, and everything is designed and built in the UK mostly from their sites in Horsham (head office), Plymouth (naval systems), and Wokingham (software and AI)
Highlighting Chess Dynamics’ achievements in the past year:
New Navy System Orders: In June 2025, a modern, digital version of their Sea Eagle system a special camera and sensor suite used on ships secured its first customer. It’s a big win that confirms the growing demand for Chess’ latest innovations
Trusted by the UK Government: Chess is part of projects led by the Ministry of Defence One example is their role in a high-tech decoy launcher, designed to protect Royal Navy ships from missile attacks
Smart Software Tested in Military Trials: In May this year, Chess Dynamics’ AI-powered tracking software performed impressively during government tests showing it could lock onto targets quickly and accurately in real-world scenarios
Recognised by Gatwick Diamond Business: In 2024, Chess Dynamics was proudly named Manufacturing Business of the Year at the Gatwick Diamond Business Awards. And in 2025, won Business of the Year (over £1mn turnover) – a huge achievement!
Despite being an SME (around 250 employees), Chess Dynamics plays a vital role in the UK’s defence sector It can move faster than larger companies, tailoring solutions to the specific needs of its customers
Its in-house software team Vision4ce builds powerful programs that help make sense of complex visual data in real time Whether it's spotting a drone flying low or tracking a fast boat in busy waters, their technology helps operators respond confidently and quickly
Chess Dynamics isn’t just about technology It also takes pride in its role as a responsible, local employer that gives back.
Volunteer Week Activities: Staff across all three UK sites got involved in community volunteering during National Volunteers’ Week in June 2025 from helping at a local foodbank in Horsham to helping out at a city farm in Plymouth
Green Goals: Chess is officially carbon neutral, which reflects its commitment to sustainability and aligns with their values of fostering a positive global impact Supporting Education and Veterans: Chess works closely with schools, colleges, and universities to encourage young people into engineering It also supports the Armed Forces Covenant and raises money for military charities like SSAFA.
Powered by People
But what really sets Chess apart is its culture The company is proud of its diverse workforce and inclusive environment In June 2025, for example, they marked International Women in Engineering Day by spotlighting one of their female engineers, project lead Helen Warne
The company encourages bold thinking, teamwork, and integrity values that have helped it grow from a niche supplier into a trusted name in global defence circles
Chess Dynamics is proof that innovation doesn’t need to come from a multinational corporation This Horshambased SME is designing and building high-tech equipment that keeps people safe all while supporting its local community, protecting the environment, and investing in the next generation of talent
With strong roots, a clear mission, and growing recognition, Chess Dynamics continues to show what British engineering can achieve.

isn’t a “nice to
“Creativity in advertising isn’t a luxury, it’s your last unfair advantage” A common phrase shared over the past couple of years And it’s true, creativity is undervalued comparatively with data and efficiency numbers. But the evidence is clear, creative excellence drives business growth Studies show that creative quality is the single biggest driver of advertising effectiveness, responsible for up to 70% of campaign performance.
Great creative captures attention, sparks emotion, and makes brands unforgettable Campaigns, like Dove’s ‘Real Beauty’, didn’t just win awards, they drove billions in bbbbb
revenue and built emotional connectionswithpeople It’snotsoft ROI,it’sstrategicimpact
So why is creativity one of the first items questioned when budgets tighten?
Because it is viewed as art, not as a growth investment It’s time to flip that and see creativity as an investment and profit centre. When aligned to business goals, it helps grow customer acquisition, improves lifetime value and builds brand equity
As CEOs seek differentiation, loyalty, and growth, creativity delivers all three But it must be championed and held alongside media and data. Safety becomes expensive and mediocrity will be the most expensive thing you’ll never see on a balance sheet

Is your brand struggling to stand out in today's overcrowded market? The solution isn't to be louder or shinier. It'saboutcreatingentirelynewvalue that renders your competitors obsolete
Customers face an endless array of choices, brand loyalty is fragile, and competing onfeaturesorpriceleads to a race to the bottom To break free, brands must stop shouting and start offering something genuinely different
Three proven paths to creating new value:
1 Reframe the Category: Challenge industry assumptions Peloton transformed home fitness from solitary drudgery into a communal ritual
What assumptions does your industrytakeforgranted?
What if you served a different audienceinadifferentway?
How might adjacent industries approach your core challenge? What cultural shifts are making old models feel obsolete?
2 Solve Unspoken Needs: What customers feel matters more than what they say. Tony's Chocolonely addressed the guilt chocolate lovers felt but rarely discussed, selling fairness alongside indulgence
Where do functional benefits fall short of emotional desires?
What frustrations do customers often experience but rarely say?
What compromises do they make that they wish they didn't have to?
What aspects of their identity does your category ignore?
3 Create Cultural Traction: Don't chase trends – set them by taking meaningful stands. Patagonia built deep cultural connection by championing environmental activism
What cultural tensions intersect with your brand's purpose?
What movements or mindsets does your audience care about?
How can you add to meaningful conversations, not just join them?
Where can your brand take a meaningful stand?
Brands that create new value command premium prices, inspire loyalty, and become nearly impossible to replicate They transform from "just another option" into "the only option "

is set to reshape the private rental sector, and one of its most significant changes is the proposed abolition of Section 21, the so-called “no fault” eviction process
For decades, Section 21 has given landlords a straightforward route to regain possession of their property Under the new legislation, this mechanism will be removed entirely Instead, landlords will need to use Section 8, which requires specific grounds, linked to a specific event, such as rent arrears or needing to move in
This shift is designed to give tenants more security and reduce unfair or retaliatory evictions, which is something we can all get behind However, it also means landlords will have less flexibility in managing their properties: The dynamic is changing, and landlords need to adapt.
Navigating this new environment demands a deeper understanding of compliance, legal processes, tenancy
strategy and ongoing property management with daily oversight Miss a step, and landlords could be exposed to extended void periods, legal delays, or even fines (which are expanding under the bill).
While the intentions behind the reform are rooted in tenant protection, it’s clear that professional guidance will become essential For landlords who have grown used to managing things independently, or who are working with agents that treat lettings as an afterthought; now is the time to reassess
The coming years will reward those who are proactive, informed, and supported by specialists who live and breathe the rental market

With the rise of hybrid work and cloud-based operations, organisations face increasing cybersecurity threats targeting vulnerable endpoints like laptops, phones, and tablets A recent study revealed that 68% of organisations experienced a rise in endpoint and IoT security attacks in the past year To combat these threats, businesses need a robust endpoint management solution to ensure devices remain compliant, secure, and up to date.
Microsoft Intune is a powerful cloudbased endpoint management platform that allows IT teams to enforce security policies, manage applications, and safeguard IT infrastructure It streamlines device management and enhances overall security posture. However, effective endpoint security management requires time, expertise, and continuous monitoring, which is where a Managed Service Provider (MSP) becomes crucial.
The modern workplace has transformed, with employees accessing company resources from various devices, including personal ones This flexibility increases the network's attack surface, making endpoint management essential Key aspects include: Enforcing security policies to prevent unauthorized access Ensuring device compliance with industry regulations and internal IT policies
Protecting corporate data by securing applications, networks, and user identities
Updating devices and applications with the latest security patches
What is Microsoft Intune?
Microsoft Intune is a cloud-based endpoint management solution that secures devices, applications, and data from a centralized platform It integrates with other Microsoft security tools like Defender for Endpoint and Azure Active Directory, balancing employee needs and security requirements.
Benefits of Remote Management by an MSP
Partnering with a trusted MSP such as Extech Cloud provides complete endpoint protection. MSPs design and implement endpoint policies, continuously monitor and manage endpoints, and respond rapidly to security incidents, reducing the burden on internal IT teams.

happy and motivated person is more likely to perform and deliver and by performing and delivering, they are more likely to feel a sense of achievement and purpose.
One of the balancing acts for any leader, manager or employer is ‘needs of the company’ vs ‘needs of your people’
On the one hand, the business requires you and your team to (e.g.) deliver, perform, hit targets, delight service users, make money in order to stay in business! On the other hand, your people require focus on (e g ) reward, recognition, motivation, welfare. Of course, a ghhd www.gatwickdiamondbusiness.com
The first step to getting ‘delivery’ AND ‘motivation’ is to understand yourself as a leader For example, there is a personality scale between high relationships at one end and high results at the other. Relationship focus tends to indicate higher empathy for others, concern for their welfare, kindness and caring Results focus tends to indicate task, action, achievement Be honest with yourself where are you on that scale?
If you are more results focused, then you will need to actively make time for your team, e g regular one to ones Seek to understand what drives each person and if someone’s performance drops, hfh
consider initially that it might be a welfare issue rather than a ‘disciplinary’ Yes, they are being paid to do a job but by understanding their issue and what they need, you are more likely to get the performance you require
If you are more relationship focused, then you can help people by providing greater clarity, structure and direction Discuss and manage expectations (yours and theirs). Make sure that everyone truly knows what they are meant to be doing and how to do it Check in with them to review objectives and targets
In essence, you need to be both results and relationships focussed… and to adapt to the situation accordingly

Imagine parking your car on a busy street and walking away without locking it. Most of us wouldn’t dream of it Yet many businesses do something similar every day by failing to secure their systems against cyber threats
Recent high-profile attacks show just how costly this can be. M&S expects the fallout from a ransomware attack to dent its annual profits by around £300 million Meanwhile, the Co-op’s loyalty card scheme, used by millions, has reportedly been compromised, putting customer data at risk. The message is clear: cybersecurity is no longer optional A breach could mean lost business, broken trust, and long-term damage to your reputation Often, you won’t vb
realise the true cost until it’s too late
Cyber criminals don’t just target big brands Half of UK businesses have suffered a breach in the past year Phishing remains the most common tactic, but attackers increasingly
exploit human error, not just technical flaws.
Think of cybersecurity as locking up your digital world Strong passwords, regular updates, and multi-factor authentication are essential
Not sure where to start? Certifications like Cyber Essentials can help you put a security framework in place, and they also demonstrate to clients and partners that you take data protection and cyber security seriously And the good news, you can self-certify for Cyber Essentials through a straightforward online application. Is SEO still worth the money with the rise of
The way people search online is changing fast Increasingly, buyers and decision-makers are skipping Google and turning directly to AI tools like ChatGPT to get instant answers to their questions. If you've noticed traffic to your website has been dropping, this is likely the reason.
AI tools do not display a traditional list of website links. Instead, they generate real-time conversational answers that are unique for each user. If your website content is not included in those answers, you risk becoming invisible to potential clients
Even Google is changing With AI Overviews now appearing at the top of many search results and its experimental "AI Mode" showing no links at all, the classic search results page is fading away This shift means businesses must move beyond chasing search engine rankings
To remain visible, you need to optimise your content not just for Google but for how AI presents information That means focusing on the full client journey: awareness, consideration, and conversion.
At the awareness stage, creating content that answers common questions, blog posts, guides, and FAQs works well During consideration, demonstrate expertise with service pages and guides. In the conversion stage, offer reassurance with testimonials and case studies supported by strong calls to action.
Traditional SEO still matters, but it's evolving By building content around bbbbb
key themes and using SEO best practices, you improve your chances of being picked up by both AI and search engines
Measuring results needs to adapt as well AI-driven results are personalised and not visible to rank-tracking tools So where you rank is becoming less important Instead, focusing on on-site engagement metrics like scroll depth, time on page, and conversions will provide a better way to measure success.

We've been working with an increasing number of clients recently who are navigating significant business restructuring challenges Whether driven by market pressures, technological advances or strategic planning, these organisational changes almost always involve complex personnel decisions that require careful handling
In recent months, we've supported several businesses across different sectors through these transitions, helping them manage the HR complexities that accompany any business restructuring plans What we've observed is that whilst business leaders identifying the strategic opportunities ahead, the intricate web of employment law, redundancy procedures and personnel management often presents unexpected challenges
In our recent cases, we've focused on ensuring full compliance with bbbbbbbb
employment legislation whilst helping clients minimise disruption to daily operations Working closely with leadership teams, we've developed comprehensive restructuring plans that protect both the business and its employees This has involved conducting risk assessments, managing consultation processes, handling redundancy procedures where necessary and facilitating smooth transitions for retained staff
A key lesson from these engagements has been the importance of maintaining
maintaining business continuity throughout the restructuring process By handling the administrative burden, managing communications with affected employees and ensuring legal requirements are met, MJV Consulting have helped leadership teams avoid being pulled away from their primary responsibilities
Recent projects have also included updating policies and procedures, implementing new reporting lines and providing guidance on cultural integration where teams have been merged or reorganised
What's become clear from these experiences is that businesses who invest in professional HR support during restructuring can approach changes with greater confidence, allowing leadership teams to maintain focus on strategic vision whilst knowing their people-related obligations are being fulfilled expertly

We recently had the pleasure of working with a local homeowner who wanted to breathe new life into her much-loved property The exterior had begun to show signs of aging, with weather damage dulling the paintwork and the guttering becoming visibly worn Her primary goal was to improve the overall appearance of the house, while also addressing the functional elements to prevent future deterioration
Following a thorough consultation, we established a clear plan: a complete exterior repaints combined with a full inspection and targeted repair of the guttering This approach would not only give the property a fresh, polished look but also ensure it was properly protected from the elements for years to come
To carry out the work efficiently and safely, especially on the upper levels, we used tower scaffolding This gave our team full access to all parts of the exterior while minimising risk and ensuring a high standard of finish. Despite the unpredictable spring weather a common challenge in the UK we managed to stay on track, delivering the project within the agreed timeframe and with minimal disruption to the client’s routine
The result was a dramatic transformation The client was thrilled with the outcome, stating: “Absolutely thrilled with the result! The team was professional, friendly, and tidy throughout My house looks fantastic, and the attention to detail was spot on I would highly recommend them to anyone needing exterior work done ”
This project perfectly illustrates the value of clear communication, careful planning, and quality workmanship in delivering results that meet both the aesthetic and practical needs of our clients.

Lorraine Davies, SME Engagement Manager at the University of Brighton sat down with Lisa Casado to learn how Knowledge Transfer Partnerships, known as KTPs, are transforming local businesses, and how the University of Brighton has become a national leader in these powerful collaborations
Lisa, for those unfamiliar with KTPs, what exactly are they?
Launched in 1975, KTPs are government-funded collaborations that connect forward thinking businesses with UK universities At the heart of each KTP is a dynamic three-way partnership - the business, an academic, and a highly skilled graduate, known as a KTP Associate, who works to brings fresh thinking and academic expertise into the business to deliver a transformative and innovative project It’s a win-win -the business embeds new solutions to address real challenges, the university sees its research in action, and the graduate gains invaluable experience
Innovate UK is celebrating 50 years of KTPs What’s the scale of the University of Brighton’s involvement?
We’ve delivered over 280 KTPs and unlocked more than £24 million in innovation funding for businesses and charities We have a 100% success rate in securing funding which is rare Our focus has always been on creating lasting impact for businesses, and 82% of our projects have directly benefited companies right here in Sussex.
Can you give us some examples?
Absolutely! Take Lankelma, a specialist in cone penetration testing in the pre-construction industry Through a KTP, they developed cutting-edge equipment that elevated their services and secured their future in the sector Their general manager told us the project helped them offer better, more reliable solutions tailored to clients' needs.
Then there’s Judges, a company that transformed its digital strategy and marketing approach through a KTP Their managing director described the commercial returns as “beyond our wildest expectations” from increased profits to better staff retention
And Falcon Coffees is a great example of how KTPs aren't just for science or tech firms They partnered with us on a business management project that helped them to develop data-driven approaches to enhance supply chain transparency, improve sustainability, and empower coffeegrowing communities to do the same
Why should a local business consider a KTP?
In today’s turbulent and testing economic landscape, the ability to adapt and innovate is crucial for business survival, making KTPs a more relevant tool than ever for organisations aiming to future-proof operations and achieve sustainable growth.
If you're facing a big challenge - whether it’s a product innovation, a digital transformation, or streamlining operations - a KTP can bring the expertise and funding to make it happen SMEs can access up to 67% government funding, and the support of world-class academics who are passionate about seeing their knowledge put to practical use.
What’s your message to Gatwick Diamond businesses? KTPs give you the tools, people, and insights to future-proof your business If you're curious, let’s talk We’re ready to help

Often, a relationship is entered into with the hope that it will be permanent Sadly, that is not always the case It is therefore preferable to protect assets, insofar as possible, at the earliest opportunity to avoid a dispute following a relationship breakdown Years ago, pre- and postnuptial agreements were not binding However, they are now heavily persuasive if they meet certain requirements something a specialist lawyer can advise upon.
A business owner may wish to give consideration to:
A pre-nuptial agreement seeking to, for example, ringfence their pre-marital assets now and potentially in the future A postnuptial agreement can be prepared in a similar vein after a marriage has taken place
If there is intended cohabitation, rather than marriage, a cohabitation agreement can seek to protect property and other assets
Whether cohabitation or marriage, it is strongly advisable to obtain a Declaration of Trust in relation to any disparity in financial contributions to a property That can, for example, ringfence that contribution insofar as possible
It is far easier to reach an agreement and protect interests with some early planning, which, ideally, avoids conflict, saves time and cost, and helps to secure financial assets, particularly where later-life or blended family relationships exist
Taking proactive legal advice ensures that expectations are clear from the outset and that your financial interests are safeguarded By planning ahead, individuals and families can reduce uncertainty, preserve relationships, and approach the future with greater confidence and security www.stevensdrake.com

As one of the UK’s most labourintensive sectors, the hospitality industry remains under pressure from rising costs, especially staffing expenses driven by higher employer National Insurance contributions. To maintainhealthycashflow,it’scrucial to adopt proactive cost-saving strategies.
Salary sacrifice allows employees to exchange part of their gross salary for non-cash benefits, such as pensions This reduces both employee and employer NI contributions. For example, if an employee sacrifices 5% of their salary into a pension, NI is only paid on the remaining 95% This not only cuts costs but also boosts staff retention, as many competitors don’t offer such schemes.
Note: Salary sacrifice cannot reduce pay below the National Minimum Wage, so it’s best suited for management or higher-paid staff
Nearly half of hospitality businesses pay tips via payroll, incurring unnecessary NI charges A properly structured tronc system managed independently by a Tronc Master can exempt tips from both employee and employer NI With the NI saving now around 15%, this is a significant opportunity. Following 2024’s tipping legislation, we’ve helped many bb
operators implement compliant tronc systems

Virgo, who has been involved with the charity since October 2023, will play an instrumental role as Programme Delivery Consultant, helping deliver the core messages of the Foundation’s Dare to Dream programme through a series of inspirational events
“Personally, it’s inspiring to be involved with an organisation that supports local young people and enables them to dare to dream about the brighter futures they can create for themselves, said Virgo
“It’s something very special to be a part of, and I’m looking forward to making a real difference.”
Since its launch in 2018, the Dare to Dream programme has reached over bbbbb

For too long, "sustainability" felt like a buzzword – complicated, laden with greenwashing, and overwhelming My brain would immediately jump to "How can I choose with so much conflicting information?" and I'd often give up before I even started
Recently, I decided to tackle sustainability gradually, learning without pressure to act immediately While greenwashing is undoubtedly present, I've also discovered a wealth of genuine, impactful action A key learning: for most businesses, IT bbbb
significantly contributes to their carbon footprint And with the rise of generative AI, that impact is only set to grow
This discovery led me to Green Software Brighton (www.meetup.com), a local meetup focused on minimising carbon emissions from software Attending their events has been incredibly insightful I've gained new information, valuable connections, and a shared sense of what's achievable moderate effort For instance, did you know that in the UK, charging your bbbb
It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of our cherished colleague and friend, Gail Shenton. Gail passed away on 10th May 2025, peacefully at home with her family beside her, after a short battle with cancer She was an integral part of the Jancett and JACE family for an incredible 28 years, making a lasting contribution across many areas of the business. Gail brought dedication, expertise and a deep understanding of childcare and education to JACE Training, supporting countless colleagues and apprentices as they grew into their own careers.
Gail was known for her unwavering professionalism, compassion, and integrity She added warmth and a calmness to every team she worked with Her presence enriched our bbbb
battery devices between 11 am and 4 pm is generally better, as the electricity carbon index is lower then? Or that, if possible, hosting your cloud software in Iceland or France can significantly reduce its carbon footprint due to cleaner energy grids? Or that a Dutch company, GreenPT, runs a GPT chat based on open-source large language models sustainably?
Sometimes, a green choice is also costeffective, and it can be beneficial if your client base is environmentally conscious.
Perhaps your first step, like mine, could be to simply check your device's charging habits or explore the Green Software Foundation's online resources (www greensoftware foundation) It would be great to meet some of you at future events to discuss how we can collectively make a difference Please don't hesitate to contact me if you'd like to learn more about my experience

workplace and her ability to encourage and uplift others left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
In addition to her professional accomplishments, Gail was deeply devoted to her family and had a great love for the sport of rugby with a particular emphasis on the areas of safeguarding and coaching. She will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humour, her generous spirit, and her role as a mentor to many
We are truly grateful for the years we shared with Gail and the legacy she leaves behind Our hearts are with her family, friends, and everyone whose lives she touched.

Humanimal Trust, founded by renowned veterinary surgeon Professor Noel Fitzpatrick, has revealed the winners of its 2025 Creative Awards, celebrating the theme We Are All Animals
The competition attracted 135 entries from individuals across the globe, who showcased their creative talents in artwork, poetry, photography and ceramics.
Now in their third year, the awards featured five age categories, starting from age seven, and this year saw the introduction of a new category for bbb
human and animal medical professionals and students.
The theme was inspired by the newly released children’s non-fiction book We Are All Animals, co-written by Humanimal Trust Patron Christopher Lloyd, which explores the deep connections between humans and animals
Joe Bailey, CEO of Humanimal Trust, said the theme perfectly reflected the charity’s mission: advancing ‘One Medicine’, which unites vets, doctors and researchers, so that all species benefit equally from medical progress, but not at the expense of an animal’s life
A panel of esteemed judges - including Professor Noel Fitzpatrick; Christopher Lloyd; MD of What on Earth!, Nancy Feresten; and Intensive Care Consultant, author and Patron of Humanimal Trust, Dr Matt Morganpraised the imagination and empathy
shown by all participants.
Prizes include signed books, magazine subscriptions, and for professionals and students, a virtual session with Dr Morgan to explore One Medicine principles
Professor Noel Fitzpatrick, said: “The standard of entries was exceptionally high, and it was deeply moving to witness such compassion, creativity and reverence for all species It fills me with hope for a future shaped by empathy and understanding. A future where ‘One Medicine’ is fully embraced - a two-way street, where we learn from the naturally occurring diseases that affect both humans and other animals, and where medical innovations and technologies are shared fairly between species.”
Entries from all the winners and runners-up can be found here: www.humanimaltrust.org.uk/creativeawards-2025
