1. Introduction from the Head Dear Luckley Parents and Pupils

I hope that the information in this guide will be helpful, reassuring and informative. My aim will be to host the majority of the information you will need to access Luckley Online in one place for ease of reference. The content of this guide will grow and change as our offering increases, with updates being sign-posted in the table of contents. Do just click on the relevant heading to be taken to new content. We have given much thought and care to how Luckley Online will operate this half term, reflecting on our past experience and always aiming to provide the best possible online school for our pupils. Luckley Online will include live lessons, recorded content, clubs and activities, special events and guest appearances. The main platform we are using is Microsoft Teams, which pupils and staff are now familiar with. Teams will allow us to hold live lessons, upload recorded content, allow access to OneNote and host a variety of resources. You may find that our visiting speakers will ask to use Zoom and, on those occasions, separate event details will be sent to you. Luckley is about more than academic lessons and the pastoral care of our community remains central to what we do. Pupils will have regular contact with their tutors and Heads of Year and of course, we will continue with our Monday assemblies. The school counsellor is also available if needed. At the mid-point to half term, on Wednesday 27 January, we held a wellbeing day. This was an opportunity for us all (pupils, parents and staff) to take some time to reflect and rejuvenate body, mind and spirit. My thanks to Mr Vallance for putting the day together, we received fantastic feedback and will be looking to do something else in the summer term. We aim to keep Luckley connected through lockdown and I sincerely hope that parents and even members of our extended family will join in with many of the events we have planned in the coming weeks. I am very open to hearing your good ideas on events and activities that might bring us together, albeit virtually. The move to Luckley Online, unescapably means more time in front of a screen, so I really do encourage our pupils to ensure they read, exercise and make time to relax and find balance. This remains a time of uncertainty for our exam groups, we share your frustration, but assure you, we want the best for you and will do all we can to support you. To this end, Mr Vallance will run a weekly academic update for all exam groups on a Tuesday from 16.00 and will send joining details out to relevant pupils and parents. Despite challenge, there is always much to celebrate, so please may I request photos of our pupils engaged in Luckley Online so that we might share this positive message on our social media platforms. Photos can be sent to Desni.Ennis@luckleyhouseschool.org. All aspects of Luckley Online will be kept under review and you will be alerted to any changes made. Technology is a wonderful tool, but there will inevitably be some challenges along the way. I have asked all our pupils to be considerate and patient. Let us treat people with kindness at this challenging time and remember always that where there is belief, there is possibility. With best wishes Yours sincerely
