BRAND INTRODUCTION
Burgess is among Napa Valley’s greatest historical estates. Since its genesis in 1972, the winery has embraced the role and importance of nature in crafting elegant wines from its pedigreed vineyards. From the slopes of the historical Sorenson Vineyard in Crystal Springs AVA, to the St. Andrews estate, the vineyards are 100% organically and biodynamically farmed to honor their past and protect the future. The vineyard team also practices regenerative and promiscuous farming in the estate parcels, interplanting fruit tries and adding apiaries and native plant gardens. Burgess wines are certified CCOF Organic.
Burgess is the culmination of 150 years of farming tradition on the slopes of Howell Mountain.
From the Swiss-Italian ancestors who first planted our Estate Sorenson Vineyard to present day, Burgess strives to create wines of elegance and finesse that honor the winery’s roots in the Napa Valley.

NAPA VALLEY
2021 Promiscua was one of Robb Report’s “The 50 Greatest Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignons of the 21 st Century (So Far).”
Named as an homage to the Ancient Roman practice of Agricultura Promiscua, which mimics nature instead of overpowering it, this is a signature red blend from all the Burgess pedigreed vineyard sites. Sensationally aromatic with delicate yet complex flavors and notes of freshly cut cedar, red cassis, and Luxardo cherry, it provides a multi-site, expressive style of Burgess in one vintage.

BRAND INTRODUCTION
“For wine lovers looking to experience a melodious, whispery voice that intertwines heritage with the intensity of mature vines, beguiling terroir, and the weightlessness of a cool climate, these latest Haynes Vineyard releases are for you.”
– LISA PERROTTI-BROWN, THE WINE INDEPENDENT
Haynes Vineyard, as a place on earth, has a quiet beauty that is almost mystical in quality. The small, close team, works every aspect of winegrowing on these acres in the sleepy volcanic caldera of Coombsville. The goal is simply to continue the legacy of good land stewardship and to forge wines that tell the story of place, people, and time. A benchmark vineyard of Coombsville, Haynes is the coldest, windiest site, encouraging deep
rooting and thick skins, resulting in more phenolics and more flavor. First planted in 1967, the vineyard boasts the oldest Chardonnay and Pinot Noir vines in Napa Valley, including Chardonnay vines are the original “shot” Old Wente clone that winemakers covet for tiny shot berries that increase acidity and reduce juice-to-skin ratio.
Haynes’ rare diatomaceous soils, not unlike limestone in France, make for linear, racy wines. Modeled after the Burgundy of the ‘80s and long before, the Chardonnays are whole-cluster pressed very hard, giving more tannins and phenolics that protect the wine through its two-year élevage on gross lees.
SUSTAINABLE PRACTICES
Sourced from the oldest vines planted in 1967 , the Corazon Chardonnay is crafted each year from the best plot and barrel that the vintage offers.
The old vines are in the south-facing part of the vineyard where they are exposed to more sunlight and wind, developing thicker skin, which gives more phenolics, energy, intensity, and flavor in the wine.

Planted in 1968 to the Louis Martini clone, these vines live in the world of restraint no matter the vintage.
Phenolic ripeness, sugars, and acidity arrive hand in hand at harvest. A high percentage of stems and whole cluster fermentation is aged in minimal new oak, with traditional Burgundian élevage with over 18 months in barrel. Perched atop Howell Mountain, Linda Falls Vineyard has a unique topography that allows it to deliver a distinct expression of mountain terroir in our classic Heitz style.
The vineyard sits at roughly 1,500 feet above sea level with an abundance of volcanic material in the soil and bedrock. These conditions create an environment where Cabernet Sauvignon struggles and develops much thicker skins than we see from valley floor fruit. Aged for two years in our cellar followed by two years in bottle, this wine was aged for immediate pleasure and will continue to reward for the next 15+ years.

Planted in 2002 next to the picturesque Linda Falls Preserve and Waterfall, these seven acres of vines planted among the redwoods were patiently farmed for 11 years before the inaugural 2013 vintage was released. Linda Falls is the singular mountain vineyard Heitz champions, capturing the rugged beauty of the Howell Mountain appellation. The Martha’s Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon changed the course of Heitz Cellar and Napa Valley. It continues to be the platinum standard of California single vineyards, with its exclusive clone and long growing season that leads to softness and concentration of flavor.

NAPA VALLEY
A historic cuvée first envisioned by Joe Heitz in 1969 , Lot C-91 is Heitz Cellar’s pinnacle Napa Valley blend and achieves what a single vineyard cannot offer.
1969 was the only vintage ever produced—until Winemaker Brittany Sherwood found inspiration in the origin story after uncovering the remaining bottles in the library. Blending all Cabernet Sauvignon single vineyards of Heitz—but with the largest portion coming from Martha’s Vineyard— this wine takes all the best elements to create a complete wine: the structure of Linda Falls, the lushness, cocoa, and herbal characteristics from Trailside, and the balance of red fruit, black fruit, and eucalyptus from Martha’s Vineyard.

OAK KNOLL DISTRICT
The Quartz Creek Vineyard is situated at the base of the Mayacamas mountains, in the northwestern-most portion of the Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley.
This site takes its name from an abundance of quartzite found throughout the bedrock and upper layers of the soil. This material provides tension and energy, seldom seen in Chardonnay from the Napa Valley. The parcel sits at one of the northernmost locations, still capable of producing elegant and balanced Chardonnay. It is often blanketed with a thick layer of fog throughout the late evening and early morning, helping to temper the Mediterranean climate of the Napa Valley.

BRAND INTRODUCTION
Ink Grade Vineyard is Howell Mountain’s first monopole estate, first planted with vines in 1873 by visionary pioneer, Theron Ink. Ink Grade’s 800 wild acres—of which 200 have been farmed organically and biodynamically since their planting over 35 years ago— are Howell Mountain AVA’s northernmost vineyards, and some of its highest (up to 2,200 ft). This is the largest biodynamically-farmed vineyard in Napa County.
Steeply terraced vineyards cling to the iron-rich volcanic soils. Wild purity and raw tension are hallmarks of the wines.
Winemaker Matt Taylor learned winemaking from legends like Rod Berglund at Joseph Swan and Jacques Seysses at Domaine Dujac. He also made stellar wines at
Araujo Estate/Eisele Vineyard. Taylor brings a passion for the rhythms of biodynamic farming and a reverence for what the land wants the wine to be, not the winemaker. His mission is to capture this untamed nature and preserve it by producing elegant, single-estate wines that express the pristine mountain fruit and legacy of the land. To do so requires patience and presence, taking the time to listen to what a place has to say and what it will give. This is an art. This is Ink Grade.
Listed as one of the “Standout Producers” of Howell Mountain in Wine Spectator’s “Napa’s Mountain Cabernets”
The flagship wine from Ink Grade Vineyard is our Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon from the estate’s highest elevation blocks.
The wine is made using gentle processing techniques throughout fermentation, employing less new oak and larger aging vessels. The resulting wine is profound and possesses tension while remaining fresh and bright. A distinctive artifact of place, Ink Grade Cabernet Sauvignon is truly a grand cru of Howell Mountain.

“Andosol” has a dual meaning: the scientific name for volcanic-based soil found in the Ink Grade estate and slang in Andalusia for taking a walk in the sun.
Each year this cuvée is crafted to best express the unique mountain terroir comprised of volcanic rock and ash formed in the Miocene era almost five million years ago. NAPA VALLEY
Sourced from a steep east facing mountain slope, these Sauvignon Blanc vines were planted in 199 6.
The well-drained volcanic soil forces the vines to dig deep into the bedrock for water. This exposure to the various layers of soils comprised of volcanic ash and rock renders a wine of incredible minerality and opulent complexity. Vigilant farming is practiced to retain aromatics while preserving the natural acidity. Use of concrete, stainless steel and large oak vessels marry textures and weight, and lees enhance the saline quality while longer pressing builds structure.

Matt Taylor Wines is eponymous for a reason; these bottles contain an inimitable intersection of place and viewpoint. A Sonoma County native from three generations, Taylor has pursued wine knowledge across the world, studying and working in Xerez, Burgundy, Hawkes Bay, Mendoza, Cafayate, the Russian River Valley and Napa Valley.
It all led him to the same conclusion: wine should be as thorough an expression of place as possible.
The hand-crafted wines from the West Sonoma Coast are produced from the Komorebi Vineyard, Japanese for “sunlight filtered through the leaves of trees”, perched just four miles from the Pacific Ocean.
Winemaker Matt Taylor’s understanding of his vineyards with their long, cool growing season informs his whole-cluster-fermented Pinot Noir and no-sulfur-added Chardonnay, and inspired him to embark on planting Loire varietals for the future. These hand-painted bottles are defined by a poetic purity — they are a love letter to the land that only Taylor could write.
The Komorebi Pinot Noir is the flagship wine of the Matt Taylor Wines portfolio.
This vintage was hand-harvested and hand-sorted on the 9th & 11th of September, 2017. The 2017 Pinot Noir is a blend of 3 co-ferments. Fermented with 100% native yeasts and 100% whole cluster in concrete and French oak tanks and pressed approximately 20 days post-harvest.

From a pandemic vintage with lower yields, all Pinot Noir fruit from Komorebi Vineyard went into Cuvée Kaela in 2020 , making this wine a stunning expression of the vineyard terroir.
2020 was an amazing year for this site. During the pandemic, my wife Kaela and our 3 children (Marley, Devon & Naia), spent more time together farming in this vineyard than we had together at any time before. A drier start to the year saw early budbreak and then some necessary rain in late March. Average to slightly above average temperatures in the summer and then multiple fires to the North (Cazadero) and East (Healdsburg & Napa) were kept at bay because of our proximity to the Pacific Ocean (4.5 miles) and constant ocean breezes.

The first post-Prohibition winery built in Napa Valley in 1951, Stony Hill’s renown grew by word of mouth over decades for the wines’ mineral-driven intensity and stamina in the cellar. Today, older vintages are coveted by collectors and sommeliers of influence. Stony Hill is still an “insiders’ winery,” a hidden cultural treasure of Napa Valley, home to the oldest Riesling vineyard in the United States, planted in 1948. Stony Hill also supplied other growers—notably John Kongsgaard—with old Wente Chardonnay clonal material for decades. A hidden 168-acre oasis surrounded by lush forests, the high-elevation vineyard of Stony Hill is nestled on the eastern slopes of Spring Mountain District AVA with an unparalleled view of the valley below. Founders Fred and Eleanor McCrea’s original home on the Estate, a stunning mid-century modern haven, has been perfectly preserved.
“Stony Hill Chardonnay was Napa’s first cult wine. A standard bearer for the region, it’s been a classic forever.”
– CLIVE PURSEHOUSE, DECANTER
Winemaker Reid Griggs came to Stony Hill in 2023 after learning from the best: Harlan Estate, MacDonald Vineyards, Dalla Valle, Ridge, and the cult St. Joseph producer Domaine Pierre Gonon. He makes the wines in a classical, terroir-driven style that prioritizes grace and delicacy. All wines are sourced from certified CCOF organic and biodynamic estate fruit and produced in extremely limited quantities, just a few thousand cases per year.
SUSTAINABLE PRACTICES
The pearl of Spring Mountain and the first post-Prohibition winery built in Napa Valley, Stony Hill is one of the region’s original cult wineries.
Famous for pioneering mineral-driven Chardonnay, the iconic Estate also produces highly acclaimed Cabernet Sauvignon. The Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is a complete expression of this special Spring Mountain terroir. From the volcanic soils in the blocks residing at the summit of the vineyard, the Cabernet Sauvignon is an elegant, classically styled wine.

BRAND INTRODUCTION
Trailside Vineyard is a single-vineyard Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon conceived by two of the industry’s most experienced and well-known professionals, Carlton McCoy Jr. MS, and Jeremy Seysses of Domaine Dujac. With the first release of the 2022 vintage, the duo crafted a profound single-vineyard wine made in a terroir-driven, ageworthy style that is an homage to Napa Valley’s glory days of the 1960s and 1970s, which they both adore.
Their hope is to restore a great vineyard’s rightful reputation simply by making a wine that they would love to drink.
Towards this end—and in classic Dujac style—Seysses had the idea to incorporate whole clusters and a submerged cap in the fermentation—a calculated risk that defies convention in the Napa Valley.
Their source is a historical vineyard in Rutherford— once called Wildwood Ranch—that was once a source for Spring Mountain Vineyard’s and Heitz Cellar’s Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon in the 1970s and 1980s. Located on Rutherford’s east side, it is just north of Beckstoffer’s Georges III. A pedigreed site hiding in plain sight for decades, the vineyard is notable for its diversity of gravel, volcanic and loamy soils.
SUSTAINABLE PRACTICES
The inaugural release is 100 % Cabernet Sauvignon, from the 2022 vintage, crafted to produce the most complex and complete expression of this site.
It is farmed, harvested, and fermented according to each climat’s individual soil type, of which there are nine. Fermentations began with a traditional pied de cuve starter, and the wine was aged in a vast array of vessels, from barrique to foudre. The wine is in a floral, fresh, but densely flavored style with the potential for long cellar aging. It’s a true collector’s item.
