Being a Chartered Accountant and getting into shipping business was like oddmanoutthereandhencechallenging forme.
“Way back in the year 1991, I got a call from my well-wisher and he asked, would you like to join a Belgium based - CMB (Compagnie Maritime Belge), a Maritime Group with registered office in Antwerp and founded in 1895. I thought of exploring this opportunity despite no backgroundinshippingindustryandtookitasachallenge.
In fact I am in Shipping Industry even now only because of itschallengingnature.
So having worked for couple of more companies and Shipping Lines, one day, I got a call from Mr. Abhishek Poddar who also happens to be my co-founder of MSA saying why don’t we start our ownentity?
“After considering the pros n cons, we decided to take a plunge into the world of shipping and here we are now celebrating the 10thAnniversaryofsuccessfuloperationofMSAGlobal.
“The journey of this Ten Years has not been a smooth sailing owing to the fact that Covid Pandemic took almost three year to recover. However, we at MSA Global took it as a challenge and worked relentlessly almost 24X7 during the Covid period to make sure that the wheels of commerce keep flowing uninterruptedly andthecargoreacheditsdestinationontime.”
“In fact, we at MSA Global Logistics entered into a Strategic Alliance for Management & Operations (SAMO) Agreement with Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC) for operations &
management of the facility ‘CWC Impex Park’ in Nhava Sheva for period of 15 years in Feb 2020. During the Pandemic time, Company has managed to sustain the Growth chart and customer satisfaction by ensuring prompt services. The Company also have started new CFS Facility in Chennai in the month of August 2020, during pandemic.
So all in all, we performed much better during the Pandemic era when compared to its previous period”, highlighted Mr.Puri.
“On this occasion, I would like to enlighten our customers that we are starting a new Container Freight Station (CFS) at Hazira in a month or two. Also we are starting Warehousing and EmptyContainer Depot atMundra.
So with all the immense support, love and affection shown by our valuable Partners, Customers, MSA Global Team and Family memberIamprettysurethatwewouldbecelebratingthesuccess ofnext10yearsinaGrandmanner,concludedMr.Puri.

Australia is an important strategic partner of India and both the democracies are part of the four nation QUAD, Trilateral Supply Chain Initiative and the Indo-Pacific Economic Forum (IPEF). MUMBAI:Indianeconomyislikely togrow13foldsfromitscurrentsizeto become a $40-trillion economy by 2047 said Reliance Industries chairperson Mukesh Ambani on Tuesday. He said that this will be driven primarily by a clean energy revolution and digitalisation.
Mukesh Ambani’s estimate for the country’s economy, which currently is thefifthlargestintheworldonlytothe US, China, Japan and Germany, is more optimistic than Asia’s richest man Gautam Adani, who last week
stated that India will become a $30-trillion economy by 2050 on back of rising consumption and socio-economicreforms.
“From a 3 trillion-dollar economy, India will grow to become a 40 trilliondollar economy by 2047, ranking among the top three economies of the world,” said Ambani sat the 10th convocation of Pandit Deendayal Energy University here.
As the ‘Amrit Kaal’ — the period between now and 2047 when India will be celebrating 100 years of
independence — unfolds, the country will witness an unprecedente d explosion in economic growth and opportunities, heasserted.
“Three game-changing revolutions will govern India’s growth in the decades ahead,” he said. “The clean energy revolution, the bio-energy revolution and the digital revolution.”
NEW DELHI: Indian exporters, whohavesufferedsetbacksfromCovid and Ukraine war led supply chain disruptions, are excited at the prospects of sending their consignments on Made-in-India containershipsbynextyear.
The Country is expected to build some 47 container ships by the year 2030, with the Central Government approving $20.13 million under the Shipbuilding Financial Assistance Policy (SBFA). The policy, introduced in 2015, has seen as many as 21 shipyards, including big names like L&T Shipbuilding Ltd, Cochin Shipyard Ltd, Goa Shipyard Ltd and Titagarh Shipyard Ltd, signing up for thescheme.
The financial assistance under SBFA is for Indian shipyards for shipbuilding contracts: signed between April 1, 2016 and March 31, 2026.

“India is gearing up for adding Indian-Made Container. The Central Government has already sanctioned $20 million for this…During the pandemic, Indian traders faced issues with regard to availability of container shipsaswellascontainers.Sincethen, there has been a demand for manufacturing them domestically,” said K. Unnikrishnan, Joint Director General, Federation of Indian ExportOrganisations.
Indian companies are also in the process of increasing production of containers. As per reports, the Government is planning a productionlinked incentive scheme for container manufacturing.

a manufacturing hub for containers, with APPL Containers there receiving orders to supply 10,000 shipping containers in a year to the Container Corporation of India. Concor will also be procuring 6,000 containers from BEML and Braithwaite & Co Ltd by theendof2023.
Jindal Steel is in process of setting up container manufacturing facilities. SAIL and a few other major steel producers have already started manufacturing specialty steel required for container production. Import of this steel from China has beenamajorconcern.
“As per estimates, the logistics sectorusesaround12lakhscontainers and there is a requirement of 50,000 newcontainersinthenextthreeyears. India is dependent on China for 90 percent of its container needs, Once manufacturing picks up, some portion of the demand would be met by these producers,”saidUnnikrishnan.
LONDON: The limited increase in ship supply driven by the new International Maritime Organization (IMO) regulations is expected to contribute to the recovery of the shippingfreightmarketinthemedium and long term, according to S&P GlobalMarketIntelligence.
The analysis shows that while freight rates are expected to return to the pre-pandemic level in 2023, limited active supply growth driven by regulations (demolitions and speed) will likely help the market to recover from2024onwards.
“Freight rates may return to the pre-pandemic level in 2023 with absence of congestion and weaker economic condition. However, limited active supply growth driven by regulations, which will lead to vessel
demolitions and speed reduction, may help the market to recover in 2024 onwards,” commented Daejin Lee, lead shipping analyst at S&P Global MarketIntelligence.
The organisation notes that the container sector is expected to face pressure from the supply side due to heavy investment in newbuildings, while fresh new contracts are limited in other sectors, including the dry bulkerandtanker.
In addition, newbuilding contracts in 2021 reached the highest since 2015 mainly with container vessels but remained lower than the shipbuilding boomperiodduringthe2000s.
S&PGlobalMarketIntelligencesaid that fresh contracts were limited in the current year due to high prices and limited yard capacity in top-tier yards
while many owners took the options of existing contracts for much lower contractprices.Accordingtotheanalysis, gas has been a preferred choice for alternative fuel, while methanol (green fuel) started to gain attraction recently, mostlyfromthecontainersector.

Furthermore, the Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII) regulation, which will be assessed yearly with stricter emission limits, will start to reduce sailingspeedfrom2024andtheimpact may become significant in scrap activities from 2025 onwards with favorableageprofile.
