NEW DELHI: The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, has approved the National Logistics Policy. The Policy lays down an overarching interdisciplinary, cross-sectoral, multiMinistries/Departmentsconsultationsprocessbeeniii.ii.i.Theaacceleratedtrustedcost-efficient,technologicallysuitableindevelopment,processes,resourceslogisticsPolicydevelopment,aimedPMGatiShaktiTheframeworkjurisdictionalandcomprehensivepolicyforthelogisticssector.policycomplementsthePMNationalMasterPlan.WhileGatiShaktiNationalMasterPlanisatintegratedinfrastructuretheNationalLogisticsisenvisagedtobringefficiencyinservices,andhumanthroughstreamliningregulatoryframework,skillmainstreaminglogisticshighereducationandadoptionoftechnologies.Thevisionistodevelopaenabled,integrated,resilient,sustainableandlogisticsecosystemforandinclusivegrowth.ThePolicysetstargetsandincludesdetailedactionplantoachievethem.targetsare:toreducecostoflogisticsinIndiatobecomparabletoglobalbenchmarksby2030,improvetheLogisticsPerformanceIndexranking,tobeamongtop25countriesby2030,andcreatedatadrivendecisionsupportmechanismforanefficientlogisticsecosystem.TheNationalLogisticsPolicyhasdevelopedthroughaconsultativewhereinseveralroundsofwereheldwithvariousof

Government of India, industry stakeholders and academia, and takes cognisanceofglobalbestpractises.Tomonitortheimplementation of the Policy and integrate efforts across stakeholders, the Policy will utilize the existing institutional framework i.e., Empowered Group of Secretaries (EGoS) created under the PM GatiShakti NMP. The EGoS will also set up a “Services Improvement Group” (SIG) on the pattern of Network Planning Group (NPG) for monitoring of parameters pertaining to processes, regulatory and digital improvements in logistics sector that are not covered undertheToRoftheNPG.Thispolicypavesway for reduction in logistics cost in the Country. Focus will be on enabling adequate development of warehouses with optimal spatial planning, promotion of standards, digitization and automation across the logistics value chain and theLogisticstheoutreach,policyfact,implementationactionoutpooldevelopmentprocesses,resolution,differentseamlessbettertrackandtracemechanisms.Furthermeasurestofacilitatecoordinationbetweenstakeholdersandspeedyissuestreamlinedexport-importhumanresourcetocreateanemployableofskilledmanpower,arealsolaidinthepolicy.Thepolicyalsoclearlylaysdownanagendaforimmediateongroundofvariousinitiatives.IntoensurethatthebenefitsofthishavemaximumpossibleimportantinitiativesunderpolicyincludingtheUnifiedInterfacePlatform(ULIP),EaseofLogisticsServicesplatform,

e-handbook on Warehousing, training courses on PM GatiShakti and logistics on i-Got platform, were launched along costlogisticsIndia’saglobalPerformanceimprovecostanothereconomicbesideschainsinventoryintransparencyelectronics.fastsuchMediumcompetitivenessofwillofwhichGatiShaktiinstitutionalStates,theStatealreadyfullyimplementation.forPolicy.withthelaunchoftheNationalLogisticsTherebyindicatingthereadinessimmediateongroundAlso,allStatesandUTshavebeenonboarded.FourteenStateshavedevelopedtheirrespectiveLogisticsPoliciesonthelinesofNationalLogisticsPolicyandfor13itisindraftstage.TheframeworksunderPMatCentreandStatelevel,willalsomonitorimplementationthePolicy,isfullyoperational.ThisensureafastandeffectiveadoptionthePolicyacrossallstakeholders.ThispolicysupportsenhancingofMicro,SmallandEnterprises,andothersectorsasagricultureandalliedsectors,movingconsumergoodsandWithgreaterpredictability,andreliability,wastagessupplychainandneedforhugewillreduce.GreaterintegrationofglobalvalueandhighershareinglobaltradefacilitatingacceleratedgrowthintheCountry,isoutcomeenvisaged.Thisisexpectedtoreducelogisticstoachieveglobalbenchmarksandcountry’sLogisticsIndexrankinganditspositioning.Thispolicylaysdowncleardirectionfortransforminglogisticssector,improvingefficiency,reducinglogisticsandimprovingglobalperformance.

Seamless transfer of Logistics data by November : DPIIT Secretary

NEW DELHI: Looking to expedite clearances of infrastructure projects and bring a better coordination in line with the PM Gati Shakti plan, the Government is eyeing seamless transfer of logistics data across various Ministries by November. "We are reconciling the complete legacy data so by the first week of November actually, everything would be shifted to this," Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) Secretary Anurag Jain was quoted as sayingrecently.PrimeMinister

Narendra Modi launched the National Logistics Policy last week, which was cleared by the Union Cabinet recently. The policy

seeks to reduce the cost of logistics in India to be comparable to global benchmarks by 2030; improve India's ranking in the Logistics Performance Index from 44 in 2018 to within the top 25 by 2030; and create a data-driven decision support mechanism for an expediteworkheimpactinternational"Thethelogisticsefficientlogisticsecosystem.TheGovernmentaimstoreducethecostinIndiafromabout13%ofgrossdomesticproductto7.5-8%.targetisthatwereachthestandardsby2030butthewillstartcomingrightaway,"said.JainsaidthelogisticspolicywillintandemwithPMGatiShaktitotheimplementationofthe
