NYK named “Noteworthy DX Company” for 2022 TOKYO : NYK was selected as a Noteworthy DX Company for 2022 by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE). This year, 15 companies including NYK were recognized as companies that are implementing noteworthy initiatives in the promotion of digital transformation (DX). This is the fourth METI/TSE recognition of NYK, following the company being named a “Digital Transformation Company” in 2021 and a “Competitive IT Strategy Company” in 2017 and 2016. The selection is in recognition of NYK’s DX initiatives, including the development of a ship data lake* to support demonstration tests of safe navigation systems and autonomous ships, in addition to the practical application of MarCoPay, a financial platform for seafarers operated by MarCoPay Inc. In February 2021, NYK released the “NYK Group ESG Story,” which aims to further integrate ESG into the company’s management strategy and promotes activities that contribute to the achievement of the SDGs through business activities. In March this year, NYK released the updated “NYK Group ESG Story 2022,” which introduces initiatives for integrating ESG into the Group’s management strategies set forth in the “NYK Group ESG Story” and provides a partial explanation of the Group’s sustainable growth strategy from a long-term perspective.
