Make it a practice for as long as you prepare to read theindexatleastoncedaily.
A continuous reading thereafter making notes or markingdetailsshouldstart.

The exam is a MCQ (Multiple choice questions) examinations in English and Hindi. The Candidate is asked 150 questions to be answered in 150 minutes, with each correct answer earning the candidate 3 marks and each wrong answer awarding minus one. The passing is 60%.
The exam is to test your domain knowledge and the MCQ’s would be designed to enable the department judge the same. There is a tendency to ask you twisted questions – please read question very carefully and answer.
Such a preparation will also reflect in the way you will workyourselfinthefuture.
PleaserememberthatCustomClearanceisdynamicprocesses would change; Government Policies would change; expectations of importers and exporters would change. This makes it all the more important that you study for retention of knowledge and growth of the individual.

LUCKNOW : The Uttar Pradesh Government’s Cabinet approved the ‘UP Warehousing and Logistics Policy 2022, State’s Industrial Development Minister Shri Nand Gopal Gupta said, stressing that the move will help it become a “USD 1-trillion economy”. The policy’s approval comes ahead of the Global Investors’ Summit scheduledtobeheldinLucknowinFebruary2023.
“The objective of this policy is to create a strong transport infrastructure network, upgrade and improve the existing warehousing and logistics infrastructure,” Guptasaid.
He said the ‘Uttar Pradesh Warehousing and Logistics Policy 2022’ will prove to be very useful in creating an international-level business environment and developing logistics ecosystem in the state in view of the development of new technologies in the rapidly changing global economy.
“On the other hand, the infrastructure of facilities like storage facilities, logistic park, dry ports and cargo terminal etc. will get an expansion. It will help in making the state a USD 1-trillion economy,” the Cabinet Minister said.
MUMBAI/DELHI: Gateway Distriparks Limited (GDL) has today completed the acquisition of Kashipur Infrastructure and Freight Terminal Private Limited (KIFTPL), which owns and operates ICD Kashipur located in Uttarakhand. Spread over 41 acres, the ICD has three rail sidings and the target market in the region includes various industries such as paper products, wastepaper, chemicals, home furnishings, handicrafts, automotive parts, polyfilms, soda ash and other industrial goods. ICD Kashipur will add additional volumes to the rail operations of GDL and will be connected to the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor via the company’s ICD in Gurgaon by utilising GDL’s hub and spoke
operations, and increasing the overall doublestackvolumeforthecompany.
As per the Share Purchase Agreementsignedon31stOctober2022, GDL has purchased 99.92% of the shareholding of KIFTPL from its majority shareholders, Apollo LogiSolutions Limited, India Glycols Limited (IGL) and Kashipur Holdings Limited at an Enterprise Value of approximately INR 155.67 crores, and accordinglyGDLhaspaidanaggregate cash consideration of approximately INR 144.47 crores to the majority shareholders of KIFTPL. The Enterprise Value has been adjusted on account of existing loans for an amount ofapproximatelyINR11.20crores.

Managing Director, GDL commented, “At present the monthly volume handled at this ICD is around 3,000 TEUs on average. We expect this to increase considerably in the next 12 months. Apart from the terminal income earned at ICD Kashipur in KIFTPL, GDL will earn significant revenue from rail transportation for these volumes by providing exclusive rail services to the ICD, which have alreadystartedearlierthismonth.”
With this acquisition, KIFTPL has become a subsidiary of the Company, effective from today. Furthermore, the process to acquire the remaining 0.08% shareholdingfromFourceeInfrastructure Equipments Private Limited, which is inliquidation,isunderway.
NEW DELHI: India is working out a plantorampupcargohandlingcapacity of its ports four fold to 10,000 million tonnes per annum (mtpa). A comprehensive ports master plan will spell out the target to be achieved by 2047,coincidingwith100yearsofIndia’s Independence,accordingtosources.
“The goal under Vision 2047 is to increase the port handling capacity to 10,000 MTPA. Contours of the plan will soon be spelled out. There will be avenues for private participation that arebeingworkedupon,”aseniorofficial said.
India has 12 major ports and 78 operational non-major ports. The total annualcapacityofmajorportsstandsat 1,597.59mtpawhilenon-majorportscan handle 1,007.40 mtpa. This takes the country’stotaloperationalportcapacity to2,604.99mtpa.
In April this year, the shipping ministry had issued directions for preparationofacomprehensivemaster planforportswithaplanninghorizonof 2047.
The Indian Ports Association, an apex body of major ports, has been directed to integrate all port master plans with respect to vision 2047 and prepareacomprehensiveplan.
At a ‘chintan baithak’ organised in June, Shipping Minister Shri Sarbananda Sonowal had asked all ports to prepare a master plan in order to become mega ports by 2047. “Improving port infrastructure and facilities, reducing turnaround time, andincreasinghandlingcapacitywillbe the bedrock of the 2047 target,” another officialsaid.
The latest goal is well above the targets set under the ongoing
Sagarmala programme that aims boosting port capacity by 800 million metric tonne per annum (mmtpa) to an overall 3,500 mmtpa by 2035.
As a part of Sagarmala programme, more than 800 projects at an estimated cost of Rs 5.5 lakh crore have been identified for implementation during 2015-2035. In a nearer goal, the Maritime India Vision (MIV) 2030 has a goal to develop global standard ports in India. The MIV 2030 estimates investmentstothetuneofRs1-1.25lakh crore for capacity augmentation and infrastructure development at Indian ports.
Separately, India is also working on developing LNG handling and ship refuelling capacity at all major ports with an estimated investment of Rs 20,000crore.
NEW DELHI : Indian exporters are keeping their fingers crossed on account of rising Covid infections in China and other countries as it could again disrupt supply chains and affect demandforgoods.
Federation of Indian Export Organisations(FIEO)DirectorGeneral Ajay Sahai said that if the cases continuetoincreaseinthecomingdays, it may have implications on imports. “We are keeping our fingers crossed,” hesaid.
Sahai said that if Chinese industries start shutting down due to rise in Covid cases, it would impact imports of key components for sectors such as pharmaceuticals, electronics and automobiles.“If the situation persists, then there would be issues,” headded.
According to the commerce ministry data, India’s imports from China during April-October this fiscal stoodatUSD60.27billion,whileexports aggregatedatUSD8.77billion.
Major goods imported from China included electronic items, organic and inorganic chemicals, medicinal and pharmaceutical products, fertilisers, crude and manufactured and dyeing/tanning/colouringmaterials.

MUMBAI: India’s foreign exchange reserves contracted by $571 million afterwitnessinggainsforfiveweeksina row. Forex reserves with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) stood at $563.5 billionfortheweekendedDecember16, according to data released by the
centralbank.Forexreservesweredown $44 billion as compared to March 31, 2022, and were lower by $72 billion on a year-on-yearbasis.
The reserves had improved by $34 billion during the past five weeks put together. The RBI had net sold $33.42
billion till September, Parliament was informedearlier.
Forex reserves had fallen to their lowest levels since July 2020 to $528 billion for the week ended October 14, from an all-time high of $645 billion in October2021.

1. The maximum permissible draft in the channel is 14.50 m. However, maximum permissible drafts at individual Berths, moorings and anchorages will applyseparately
2. Container vessel upto 330 m can be handled with a draft of 14.0 m, subject to availability of tide. For other cargo ships with LOA more than 270 m, can be brought inside to Kandla creek under special conditions.
3. a. Ships and tankers exceeding 225.5 m will have a minimum under keel clearance of 1.2m b. Berthing of vessels beyond 225.5 m in length shall be done between panels 52 to 85 of Cargo Jetties
4. Ships and tankers having maneuverable speed of less than 9 knots through water will not be moved in and out of Kandla Port during dark hours. However, this condition is not applicable to Tugs/Barges
5. Night Pilotage is restricted to vessels beyond 240 m of length. However, vessels in Ballast upto LOA 270 m can sail at night when berth in Flood.
6. Berthing and un-berthing vessels and tankers to Buoy moorings will be restricted to daylight hours only
7. Vessel will not be permitted to anchor at Kandla Creek inner anchorage except in case of emergency
8. Minimum tide of 6.4 m is required for handling vessels with draft 14.5 m.
9. Vessels with a departure draught of 10.5 m. or more should be brought starboard side alongside on the flood tide as far as possible to prevent delay in sailing to await change of tide. In case the vessel is portside alongside due to any reason, she may be turned around to face the flood during the stay at berth whenever practical.
10.The draught, length and DWT etc. at various berths are given below. The draught shown at various berths are indicated for the chart datum depth unless stated otherwise-
i. Oil Jetty No.1 Oil Tankers drawing upto 10.6 m draught with LOA upto 185 m and DWT upto65,000 tonnes.
ii. Oil Jetty No.2 Tankers upto LOA183 m, DWT upto 52,000 tonnes and maximum draught of 10.3m shall be allowed for berthing.
iii. Oil Jetty No. 3 a. Tankers drawing upto 10.6 m LOA upto 213.4m and DWT upto 40,000 tonnes.
b. If a tanker of 213 m is berthed at Oil Jetty No. 2, the length of the vessel at Oil Jetty No. 3 shall not exceed 183m
iv Oil Jetty No. 4 Oil tankers drawing upto 10.70m draught LOA upto 216 m and DWT upto 56,000 tonnes are permissible.
v. IFFCO Jetty Tankers upto LOA 216m, DWT 45,000 tonnes with the draught of 9.5 m shall be permitted for berthing. Additional advantage of upto a maximum draught of 10.7 m shall be allowed depending upon the height of next low water
vi. Oil Jetty No. 6 (IOCL) Ships drawingupto 10.1m draught, LOA upto 216 m and DWT upto 45,000 tonnes shall be permitted.
NOTE: The draught at Oil Berths are available at minimum tide. However, higher draughts upto a maximum of 10.4 m unless mentioned otherwise may be allowed upon an undertaking that the draught of the vessel will be reduced to the permissible draught of the berth before the next low water.
