Cont’d. from Pg. 4
As an avid sports enthusiast, Dr Chandramohan inspires everyone to take up sports to live a healthy life and also lends a hand to talented athletes in rural areas to showcase their skill in the national and international arenas through Young Champions Sports Association.
Founder’s Day is not just about celebration but also about charity. Dr Chandramohan has adopted schools in rural areas and has also joined hands with NGOs to help needy students in over 20 schools in the most underdeveloped areas of Tamil Nadu. As part of the Founder’sDaycharity, mealsareservedintheseschools.
A celebration is held at orphanages supported by NTCGroupwherebreakfastlunchanddinnerwillbeserved to children. Besides, food is distributed to the homeless in the regions of Chennai. This year, a blood donation camp is organized at the offices in the city to spread awareness of the significance of blood donation and contribute to saving morelives.
The courage to pursue one’s passion may often set one on a journey more rewarding than its goals.
Dr K Chandramohan’s story of building his logistics empire is one such. The firmness in his purpose took Namakkal Transport Carriers from a small-scale General Transportation company with only one vehicle into NTC Logistics,apath-breakingpioneerinjust20years.
Consequently, it led the company to own the 8th largest specialized fleet of transport vehicles and equipment in the world, ranked by ICT50 (2022). From NTC Logistics, it snowballed from strength to strength to provide ODC (Over Dimensional Cargo) & Project Logistics, Supply Chain & Warehousing, Renewable Energy EPC Solutions, Infrastructure, Cranes & Lifts, Automotive Components, Engineering & Manufacturing, Training & Development, Agro Farms & Products and eventually becoming the NTC Group, a conglomerate of 5,000 families. AHMEDABAD: Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (“APSEZ”), the largest transport utility in India, announced its resultsforH1FY2023.
“H1 FY23 is a record half-year in APSEZ’s history, with the highest ever cargo volume, revenue and EBITDA. Extending this strong performance into October, APSEZ achieved 200 MMT of cargo through-put within seven months, another new milestone,” said Mr. Karan Adani, CEO and Whole Time Director of Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone.
For H1 FY23, this record cargo volumes have resulted in a 24% Y-o-Y jump in Port EBITDA, while the EBITDA of the logistics business jumped 57% Y-o-Y. The margin expansion of the logistics segment continued with a 470 bps Y-o-Y jump on the back of better utilization of assets and increased share of theGPWISrevenuestream.
The volume growth will be further fueled by the recently commissioned facilities of APSEZ, which include(i) 6 lakh TEU container terminal facility at Gangavaram, and (ii) liquid storage tanks at Katupalli, that have a Take-or-Pay contract. The scheduled commissioning of 5 MMT LNG terminal in Dhamra by the year end (with a Take-or-Pay contract)isanothergrowthcatalyst.

In the current financial year, APSEZ signed a concession agreement for berth mechanization at Haldia port taking our India footprint to 13 locations. We also received a LOI for the Tajpur Port, a greenfield development that we expect to commission in the next 5 years. Adani Agri Logistics (ALL) received a LOA from the Food Corporation of India (FCI) to build four silos, which will take our total silo capacity to 1.53 MMT and enable our presence across 24 locations. NEW DELHI: Warehousing and Electronic Negotiable Warehouse Receipt (e-NWR) are going to play a critical role in the transformation of India and rural India in particular, said Shri Sudhanshu Pandey, Secretary Department of Food and Public Distribution(DFPD).
The Secretary was addressing a seminar on “e-NWR – An Effective Tool for Promoting Pledge Financing” organized by the Warehousing DevelopmentandRegulatoryAuthority (WDRA)underDFPD.
Delivering his address, Shri Pandey spoke about a paradigm
shift and how in the next 25 years, real growth is going to come from rural India with mechanisation of agriculture, regulation of warehousing, organisation of the informal sectors of the economy, increase in financing and credit flow access in the rural economy and mobilisation of the potential of cooperative societies leading to better governance and accountability. He said that warehouses will continue to be required for safe storage, food security, financing and export.
He further said that the Government has taken a number of steps for
increasing registration of warehouses and promoting the benefits of registration of warehouses with WDRA and pledge finance against e-NWRs. These include encouraging all Government stocks to be kept in the WDRA registered warehouses and reduction in cost of insurance.
He further said that the electronic negotiable warehouse receipts envisaged by WDRA have become a reality and inspired all the stakeholders and partners to continue their collective approach to benefit the people of the country.

The object is to bypass the dollar-denominated trades through baby steps and creating an alternative payment ecosystem other than the globalSWIFTplatform.
They include African countries such as Djibouti, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Ethiopia and Sudan, said people familiarwiththematter.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Finance Ministry and National Payment Corp. of India (NPCI) did not comment on the matter. The Indian

Revenue increased by 37%, and both EBITDA and EBIT increased around 60% compared to Q3 2021. Continued momentum in the strategictransformation, growthinLogistics, andOcean contract rates above the previous year were the main driversofimprovedperformance.
”Our third quarter result was another record and the 16th quarter in a row with year-on-year earnings growth. Ocean freight rates, which have driven the exceptional results we have delivered in 2022, were again up both year-on-year and compared to the second quarter. However, it is clear that freight rates have peaked and started to normalize during the quarter, driven by both decreasing demand and easing of supply chain congestion.Asanticipatedallyear, earningsinOceanwill come down in the coming periods. Our overall transformation momentum remained very strong as we continue to grow our Logistics business rapidly. For the first time, revenue in Logistics exceeded USD 4bn in one quarter, and we expect to continue to outgrow the market in Logistics based on new customer wins,” says Søren Skou, CEO of A.P. Moller - Maersk.

InLogistics&Services,Maerskcontinuedtoinvestin its portfolio and capabilities. The acquisition of LF Logistics was completed, the intended acquisition of Martin Bencher Group was announced, and the warehouse, distributioncenterandcoldstoragefootprint was significantly expanded with 21 incremental facilities across key markets like Latin America, Europe and India. Revenue in Logistics grew 60% to USD 4.2bn and EBIT increased to USD 258m mainly due to added revenue from acquisitions and higher volumes, in particularamongMaersk’sexistingtop200customers.
In Terminals, revenue grew to USD 1.1bn and EBIT increasedtoUSD357m,mainlydrivenbyhighervolumes and prices as well as the completion of the divestment of the Terminal’s share in Global Ports Investments in Russia.
Demand for logistics services moderated across global supply chains in Q3 2022. Supply-side bottlenecks
Revenue for Q3 increased to USD 22.8bn, EBITDA increased to USD 10.9bn and EBIT increased to USD 9.5bn. Profit was USD 8.9bn for Q3 and USD 24.2bn for the first nine months. Return on invested capital (ROIC)wasat66.6%forthepast12months.
“With the war in Ukraine, an energy crisis in Europe, high inflation, and a looming global recession there are plenty of dark clouds on the horizon. This weighs on consumer purchasing power which in turn impacts global transportation and logistics demand. While we expect a slow-down of the global economy to lead to a softer market in Ocean, we will continue to pursue the growth opportunities within our Logistics business. As a trusted partner, we are ready to support our customers in rethinking their supply chain needs through what is likely to be a period of a more volatile business environment,” says Søren Skou.
In Ocean, revenue increased over the quarter to USD 18bn and EBIT rose to USD 8.7bn mainly driven by significantly higher freight rates on contract and shipment on routes from Asia to Europe and to North America, partly offset by a decrease in volumes
continued to pose challenges, but there are signs of easing as demand slows and COVID 19-related restrictions in China diminish. Freight and charter rates declinedinQ32022relativetothepreviousquarterasthe expected normalisation gained momentum through the quarter. Global container volumes are estimated to have declined –3% year-on-year in Q3 while global air cargo volumes, measured in CTKs, dropped by 9% in July/August (IATA). As a result of slowing economic activity, global container demand is expected to contract between–2and–4%in2022.
