DNE MESSAGE Hello Blue Turtles, Thank you so much for such an amazing term. Despite being online, I couldn’t have asked for a better district to be apart of and serve for. Thank you for participating in district events, serving the community, and for reading this newsletter. I will miss you all !

NEWS COORD Hello all, how are you doing? Spring break is coming up and I'm definitely excited for that reprieve! It's an absolutely perfect time to spend with your family and friends (while maintaining social distancing) and all in all, it's an awesome way to get a good week's rest before school comes back up. I hope you guys will have fun. And, with the last quarter of the school year coming up, I wish you all the best of luck!

LTG MESS Hello Blue Turtles! I can’t believe that this is already the last Turtle Times Newsletter of the term and that this is the last LTG message I will write for you all! Time has really flown by, and I treasure each day that I serve you all as your current Lieutenant Governor. With the term coming to an end, we still have a few more exciting events coming up, including our March DCM, which is the very last of the term, and our Region ZomBEE Apocalypse! I hope to see you all there — don’t miss out! We’ve made outstanding progress and reached amazing accomplishments during our term! Despite being entirely virtual, we served almost 16,000 service hours as a division and fundraised almost $5,000 for PTP! These are exceptional numbers for a regular term and outstanding considering the circumstances of ours! I thank you all for entrusting me to serve you all as your Lieutenant Governor and for your constant support throughout the term. I sincerely hope that you were able to have a great Key Club term (even if it was all online) and make new friends and memories!

SSAGE To underclassmen, I hope that you all can have in-person events soon. And to seniors, I wish you all the best as we graduate this spring! I hope that Key Club has been a positive experience of your high school years like it has mine and that your future endeavours treat you well! As always, please feel free to reach out to me if you ever have any questions, comments, or concerns. Make sure to take care of yourselves and stay safe and healthy! Thank you all for being the BEST division I could ever ask for! Swimming in Service,

JERICA FANG, D10S LIEUTENANT GOV.

MARK KEPPEL In the month of February, Mark Keppel Key Club members dedicated their time towards planting trees and helping with Earth reforestation. Deforestation is a current environmental crisis as forest areas across the world are being lost to other uses such as agricultural croplands, urbanization, and mining activities. However, Tappy Tree is a mobile game app that allows participants to click on a tree icon and gain credits to plant real trees at the convenience of their own homes. For every 20,000 trees each member planted, they were able to earn half an hour of service. At the end of the month, Mark Keppel Key Club members succeeded with planting over 3 million trees through the mobile app and made a meaningful contribution towards battling deforestation around the world.

GABRIELINO In February, Gabrielino High School and Rosemead High School collaborated together to celebrate the month of love! The two clubs planned a Valentines-themed movie night on February 13th from 2 to 4 pm. All the single turtles were welcomed to mingle during our bonding. Members watched the new rom-com “To All The Boys: Always and Forever” on Netflix. Throughout the film, the chat was alive with fun and lively comments. In addition, members could fill out the Love Box form to share their gratitude and appreciation during the run time. At the end of the event, officers from each board read out the Love Box submissions to start the month off on a positive note.

ALHAMBRA Alhambra Key Club hosted a two-week 7 Leaves fundraiser from February 7th to February 20th. Members were able to fulfill their boba cravings, while supporting our club by contributing to our club’s funds. Members who attended the fundraiser also earned an entry to our semester raffle. For the month of February, members had 2 service opportunities. This included creating an informational KEY Club graphic and Ecosia, an extension that helps plant trees to benefit some of the world’s harshest environments. Both services could earn members a max of 5 hours, so in total members could earn 10 hours. In the month of February, we also officially welcomed new blue turtles in the club. Despite being virtual, we were able to recruit the most members out of all the service clubs on campus! Qualified members attended one of the two open meetings and the social. Welcome d10s blue turtles, we are super excited to have you!!

WILSON For the month of February, Wilson key clubbers participated in the Shave The Day service event. Members would have to download the app and submit their screen time in order to earn hours for this event. Members can earn up to 3 hours of service by playing! This app is similar to the game Subway Surfers, but the only difference is that when you play and earn coins, you are also earning money for child cancer research. Not only are they having fun by playing a game we all enjoy, they are also contributing to cancer research, which is saving many lives. Another service event our club held was Ocean Hero, a search engine, similar to Google. But the plus side is that when members use this search engine to search, they are also generating money to fund the recovery of plastic bottles from the ocean. Every member had the opportunity to earn up to 4 hours, which requires them to do 600 searches, equivalent to 600 bottles retrieved from the ocean. By exposing our members to this site, a great alternate site to Google, members can use in the future and continue to help save our earth from the comfort of their home.
